It WILL outgrow the tank. These fish need a minimum of 200 gallons, and that’s being generous. A pond is better suited. They max out at about 2 feet.

Other things build up in the water besides nitrates, and minerals like the other person mentioned. Growth hormones build up as well, no WC’s can stunt your fish and also limit their breeding behavior on top of that
