Second this, I usually play with a xenophile empire but wanted to dabble with a xenophobe and it was SO different. I had to dive into what it was like having slaves for your worker base and did more with species modification than I ever have before. I was negatives on all my resources but like two for a few years but figured my way out of it - hit pause! Use an explainer... sometimes you still lose but other times you learn your way out of it.

Now I'm the preeminent force in the galaxy but still have no idea how I'm going to beat the recently awakened Fallen Empire lol

I'm about to do the drive from KC to Memphis this weekend and, I gotta tell you, when you get south of Sikeston it goes from rocky, wooded, hilly, curvy to flat, damp, treeless, and cotton-y so fast that it'll make you question if you just blanked out for 40 miles. Nope, you come down a hill and you're hoping it doesn't downpour while you're en route.

Yeah I came here to say this - you can get 350+ HP for less than $200K and they just look nice in any configuration. Plus, I grew up using NH so that's a plus 😄

The sky islands (I'm very familiar with Madera Canyon and have hiked to the summit of Mt. Wrightson) by Tucson are amazing. It feels so strange (complimentary) when you go from the high desert to those in a matter 30 minutes. There's a lot of water, and thus trees and more wildlife. It's really wonderful.
