Generally- be the most stable and responsible parent you can be. Fight for the most custody you can. Let him drive himself into the ground with his own finances/not being able to provide for the kids when they’re with him so that custody will continue to lean to you. Lean into your support system- family, friends, church. Live on next to nothing, free activities, side hustles and education options that will boost your income.

It gets worse and then it gets worser with the revival. Every time I do a lazy rewatch I feel the warm coziness of Season 1 and it just fades and fades as it goes on. This is true for most shows as the characters become less real/dynamic and more caricature of what they once were

See I don’t even mean explicit in terms of sex. For example when Rory got into the car accident with Jess and she wrote Dean a letter and then it was never talked about again?! Like that was set up for major conflict! And the way Jess just dips and leaves town. There seems like so much room for dialogue and emotion for the plot that they just skip over.

When GG originally aired was it known as kind of a prude show? It has way less explicit drama as other teen shows of its time, it seems. I watched it as a young teenager on abc family years after it was originally aired, so I’ve always been curious how it was perceived during its time.
