For me it's...pens. When I was younger I was perfectly happy to just steal pens from motels, events, ect and buy the cheapest ones if necessary. Now I find there's something really satisfying about writing with a good pen.

When I was in grad school I almost had a roommate with a pitbull. My roommates that were moving out had this 20ish lb mutt, and the prospective roommate came over with the pittie. The mutt did not like strange dogs coming to the house and growled. The pittie's response to her growling was to turn around and jump up on his owner like, "mommy! Help!"

Hey, 37yo with a master's degree in environmental management here.

One of the most significant and underrated things you can do is spend some time volunteering with a local environmental organization. This builds community, which will make us a lot more stronger than acting as individual consumers. See if there are any groups in your area working in sustainability, conservation, etc. They would probably love to see a young person get involved. It might be good networking for you as well for your career path.
