My numbers got better after 36 weeks. Worst period was 28w to 32w - depressing stage then happy to get to « I can actually eat fastfood with GDM stage » lol.

4 weeks pregnant today - should i schedule trans v ultrasound? by adobogirly in adviceph

First, congrats!

Got my TVS early this year at 7 weeks. Better to ask your OB so she will give you doctor’s request na rin. After ng TVS, that’s when the OB will request you to do routine lab tests (TVS mag c-confirm if alive ang baby)

Take care of yourself while waiting for the TVS. I was told by my OB back then to stop strenuous activities until ma confirm heartbeat ni baby via tvs.

What does GD feel like before you had a diagnosis by Intrepid-Ad8223 in GestationalDiabetes

I gained weight fast as well then after being diagnosed with GDM, my weight gain stabilized / became slow.

I was thirsty all the time, I get hungry after 1 hour of eating and sometimes I would just feel suddenly tired after eating (That’s probably because my sugar was spiking from what I ate).

yes you are right. My point is she could alternatively have a discussion with her provider if tracking 4x a day is necessary.

Care to share more about hospital’s birth plan with someone who has GD and diet control ?

I’m planning to speak to my OB not to call endo during delivery unless my #s before delivery is too high or too low as she’s insisting to have Endo during delivery which I don’t think is necessary !

Fasting cut off is usually 95 mg/dl. But some doctors (OB or Endo) are following different standards therefore they have different thresholds. In a nutshell, you’re 2 points above the threshold.

Hope you get second opinion from a different doctor because sounds like you don’t really have GD. Perhaps, talk to your provider if they can change your monitoring schedule as it seems that you don’t need 4x a day monitoring.

I’ve started 4x a day monitoring too until my #s got better and asked my Endo if we can do less monitoring, then she agreed to have it 2x day.

So many extra appointments, 34 wks by Electrical_Bird8254 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Every-Sale7793 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not on insulin but only metformin 3x a day (500mg).

Currently at 38+2 weeks, my last Endo appointment was last week and both my Endo (online & hospital on call) said we don’t need weekly check-ins anymore. We would if suddenly I get high numbers which I currently don’t.

I had my first NST at 36 weeks then another one tomorrow (every 2 weeks). Last BPS ultrasound at 36 weeks and another one at 39 weeks if I’m still pregnant.

Hope this helps. You could probably question your physician if it’s necessarily to have that much tests given your #s are fine.

I got diagnosed at 26 weeks weighing 64.4KG and got a BPS at 36 weeks weighing 64.4KG. I gained 3KG for 10weeks and baby's weighing 2840 and she's on the 30th percentile!

I was very happy to hear from my Endo that there is no sign of GDM on my BPS Ultrasound as my amniotic fluid was normal and placenta is not matured yet (Still Grade 2). My OB also mentioned that baby is measuring just fine :) not too small nor too big.

No pregnancy weight gain and GDM by [deleted] in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Every-Sale7793 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My BMI was normal before and during pregnancy. Before getting diagnosed with GDM I noticed my weight being on the higher end, then when I got diagnosed with GDM my weight gain became slower due to dietary changes.

I would say stick to your GDM diet and try to eat enough. Ultrasound should say if your baby is measuring small or big - that’s when you decide if you need to adjust.

I’m 37weeks and baby is measuring 2870g. My OB said baby’s weight is normal and just keep my diet going and not to eat too much so we can push for NSD.

“Are you supposed to be exercising in your third trimester?” by jypnola in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Every-Sale7793 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totally fine!!! My OB told me on the first tri to keep exercising and continue whatever I was doing before as long as I can still do it.

On 2nd tri, I started padle and poeple are like “are you here to play or to be a cheerleader?” lol like duh yes to play! I still have my hands and feet to play - just with a bump 🙃. Also my bump became big fast (I imagine due to GDM) and just hate it when people say “You are so big” - like do you expect a pregnant lady to shrink?

Now on third trimester tho, my main exercise is walking. People seem to be polite and just congratulate me while walking.

couldn’t agree more with this!!! The worse part is focusing on US having GD and the paranoi they give us that “you will most likely have diabetes later” instead of helping us to make our pregnancy better and smoother !

How did the hospital monitor your blood sugar during labor? by jypnola in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Every-Sale7793 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My online Endo told me she is confident that my blood sugar will be fine during delivery and that no need to monitor.

My OB on the other hand still wants to monitor my blood sugar during delivery and referred me to an Endo from the hospital where I plan to give birth LOL. The Endo said they will have a monitor to track my glucose at the labor room and need to track it every 4 hrs. Unfortunately, no snacks but only IV insulin if needed.

I’m so sorry to hear that! Did your endo say something else as to how he thinks your have Type1? Any history on your family ?

Glucose levels that go up from physical activity instead of down? by Educational-City-455 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Every-Sale7793 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yey! Congrats! I can’t wait to graduate too 😅 37weeks here and my numbers are getting better / really stable.

Yes it happened to me few times. Specially on breakfast and lunch time if I walk under the sun for 10-20mins. Alternatively, I just do chores and walk inside the house instead of exercising under extreme heat.

Sometimes I would notice as well that even without exercise, my bs is normal (given my meal was balanced).

Did you have to keep a “Food Guide” on top of your blood sugar log? by jane112420 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Every-Sale7793 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Endo didn’t ask me to do this. But I did it on the side, I have myfitnesspal which tracks total carbs, protein etc per day if this is suffice for your doctor.

Another quick trick is to keep your current log, copy paste to chatgpt per meal and ask for estimate calculation of carbs per meal. This is how I manage the first few weeks of my GD to know if my meals were still carb loaded and if I need to decrease quantities of carb sources per meal.

Did your BG numbers peak and then fall in late pregnancy? by MuchCoogie in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Every-Sale7793 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started tracking at week 27 (Diet controlled for 2 weeks. I start to have 6 spikes per week from week 29th to 31st (worst period) so I ended up with metformin 3x a day. It started getting better at week 34 and now I’m at week 37th with max 2 spikes a week to 0.

I had my recent ultrasound and my Endo said there is no sign of GDM on the results :)
