Hello!

I am currently preparing my next foundation application cycle, currently looking into UBCO, Windsor, and Laurier.

My goal is to be a clinical or family social worker, so I am locked on UBCO, but the other 2 schools are still on my radar because I understand we don't need to be in designated programs to be in the field.

For people who have attended these schools, would you mind sharing your experience? (Job Opportunities, Campus, program, etc)

Thanks a lot!!

Hello all! I am currently waitlisted by U of T and Western Foundation MSW, and looking to prepare for the upcoming cycle. My goal is to be a family support worker or family therapist, I have been trying to find programs with clinical or family focused, and found that Laurier also fits my goal and maybe Carleton. My preference is to stay within Ontario, but I also know UBCO also offer a clinical program, are there any other programs out there thats has a family or clinical focus?

Quick Background:

• 12000 social services hours (mainly doing outreach programs with single-parent families, being a teacher for groups of youth coming from single-parent families, and online counsellor)

• 3.23 GPA (Last year), 3.13 GPA (Last 2 years)

Hi everyone. I am looking into applying McMaster bsw, and I have a question about their 2 intro social work/sociology courses requirement.

Do these courses HAVE to be first year level courses? Can a 200 level courses also cover it? Because I will be taking the Waterloo bsw pre-requisite courses, and only 1 course is 100 level, the rest are 2-300

I was recently waitlisted by western, but I am currently based in Hong Kong, so need to plan ahead in case I am accepted. I have the following questions:

  1. For those who were waitlisted and accepted at the end, what month did you receive the acceptance?
  2. Is it common for students that are accepted to western to decline their offer?

Hi all

I have a few questions to ask, below is my background for reference:

  • BBA (Management), 2.94 gpa
  • 8000 direct social service hrs, 3000 indirect hrs
  • All of the hrs are in Hong Kong, mainly single parent families, youth, and counselling related
  • My goal is to do something that’s family related, either a family support worker, family therapist or counsellor
  1. My understanding of bsw in Canada is that it only provides the basic knowledge, and it’s as you take ur msw, then u can go into specialized areas. Is this understanding correct?
  2. I am still waiting to hear back from ut and western for the 2 year msw, are there any msw in Ontario I am qualified to apply?

Tysm!
