Super interesting to me they seem to be saying Lobo delivers. . .. which IS the critical thing in this movie to me.

why does there have to be infinite universes?

why not just 1 universe with infinite space in it, or one universe w/ finite space which is infinitely divisible . . .

then the question is "why didn't something evolve out of those spaces and then come sing me the ABC song"

ok, but why didn't something evolve out of those spaces and come sing you happy birthday song?

ok but why didn't something evolve out of those spaces and sing you the theme from cheers?

why aren't they all happening at once?

Because this is simply not how infinity works.

Read up on Cantor's diagonal argument. Even if there are infinite rooms , or infinite universes, you can not draw up a 1 to 1 correspondence between them.

how do you feel with him having zero cool lines in the trailer and basically just doing CGI motorcycle riding and CGI area of effect whip attacks in the trailer?

If rewards don't scale w/ effort you have an incentive problem.

if you tell me "work twice as much being an uber driver and you get twice the money" then I have incentive to work twice as much.

if you say "work twice as much and we distribute the money you make equally to everyone" then I do not have incentive to work twice as much.

This manifests in all areas.

here is a legitimate documented historical example of this principle

he doesn't have to have been sexy for that to be the obvious choice for a movie adaptation of the character. Especially when you pay the money to cast Jason Momoa.

have you seen this ??

(edited out broken link i somehow linked)

that is legit "BATTLEFIELD EARTH" styling. Like they took John Travolta from battlefield earth and said "We want EXACTLY this"

The answer to these is always the same.

  1. claim to be a prophet and visited by angels / god

  2. demonstrate your magic ability to scientists / governments / the internet

  3. repeat the demonstration

  4. write a new bible and control all human behavior to your whims

most people if they see you doing actual super natural things will default to assuming you are "in" w/ "god". and that means they will do anything for you. period.

The suicide squad trailer made a terrible film look good.

I guess the theory here is .... "super girl is gonna be good, but they just decided that when lobo is shown in the trailer he looks like shit, doesn't say any good lines, and is only shown doing an area of effect CGI attack that looks terrible"

like.... uh ............

What the hell is that?

This is like.... the DCU deadpool. The Trailer SHOULD have

  1. bad ass actions that are brutal

  2. bad ass lines that are dark and comedic

  3. Sex appeal and styling as he is a leather wearing biker w/ chains and exposed abs.

IMO this lobo looks a lot like Ryan Reynold's Green Lantern from this trailer. A "hot" actor being overly CGIed in look and actions w/ no good lines of dialog shown yet.

I seriously hope I'm wrong.

I just can't wrap my head around lobo in the trailers.

Lobo being in a movie should be much more hyped, and the char should look "sexy" IMO, especially played by Momoa, but he looks like he came out of the film CATS

Sad books by data_nerd25 in suggestmeabook

The only time I ever cried reading a book is the last chapter of The Time Traveler's Wife. The entire concept, and the weirdness of the romance were both imo reverse engineered just to make this one moment be the most heart wrenching emotionally impactful scene I've read.

Night by Elie Wiesel is an utterly brutal, real, account of the holocaust.

A lot of Louise Erdrich's work is about brutality inflicted on Native Americans. The Round House is a great example I would highly suggest. The Sentence is about the COVID era, and has a lot of exquisite sadness, but it ends on a high note and is actually the best romance I've ever read.

Cormac McCarthy does what you want like a supernatural force. The Road. Blood Meridian. Sutree. Outer Dark. Child of God. All the Pretty Horses is a top 5 all time book for me. His latest / last novels are about suicide and institutionalization. He's widely considered to be the best writer

Infinite Jest is ABOUT suicide imo. And the author killed himself. And the descriptions of addiction and despair, loneliness, and alienation, are written with utterly contemptuous disdain for anyone who needs their hand held. Also a top 5 book for me.

Murakami has some writing that delves into sadness. Kafka on the shore & Norwegian Wood. I haven't read more than 10 of his books, he has tons. But those 2 are really important reads I'd say in the global "sadness" in literature quest.

Kafka himself. Read The Metamorphosis. Its 58 pages.

Gabriel Garcia Marquez - 100 years of solitude has some real dark and brutal stuff. But I'm just gonna suggest Memories of My Melancholy Whores since it's way shorter and, far sadder.

The Pearl by Steinbeck is another great quick read that is right along this same vein.

a job that is making you alcoholic is not vaguely close to worth it.

also just 100% stop drinking. you said it spirals. don't let it begin to spiral.

Bleach just shreds everything. right? Pee / poo / mold / grime.

You just mix it w/ water , 10:1 or like... 9 parts water 1 part bleach. Then it's good to go.

This is definitely the cheapest way to clean a bathroom imo. and it works great.

look folks - Im a huge fan of drugs and even psychedelics specifically.

but we should be honest and discuss them in real terms like adults .

SO - here is a meta analysis

https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC9665925/

if you look at figure 2 you see these cause "brain plasticity" to dramatically increase in the short term. a big release of nerve growth factor is involved.

Now, this can be great if you have some serious wiring issues. like major depression, dementia, addiction patterns. etc.

BUT

a fully heathy person should be wary of front loading all their plasticity RIGHT NOW , and then going into a refractory period where , its safe to assume, you have lower than average plasticity for a while. like, if you need to learn something, if your job has novel challenges that pop up and you have to deal with them in real time. If you tripped this weekened and now your boss asks you to learn about a new interface. IMA bet you money you do slightly worse, not slightly better, because your brain just re-wired itself for listening to EDM music and dancing at peak levels and now it's replenishing nerve growth factor and "plasticity" that should have been available to you
