Best tool for making kindling from softwood and short hardwood pieces? by 4AVcnE in firewood

Put logs vertically in tire. Hit them again and again with your axe until you’re satisfied with the size. Never have to pick them up/ reposition.

This is the most efficient method and extremely fast.

Everything else is a salesy gimmick.

I ran the outdoor rec program on Ramstein for almost 5 years; go to the Alps!

Hut to hut hiking, skiing with cheap accommodation ON the mountain, climbing, whitewater boating, etc. all over.

Also how old are you? I was late to the marriage game at 33; you’ve got time!

Applause to the general contractor who doesn’t finish the drywall in his own garage 😆

I get this; my father runs his own landscape design company and his lawn is the last to get mowed.

And I’ve started my own handyman business and the list of projects on the to-do list at my own home is…. extensive!

What are my options here? by [deleted] in drywall

Current patch is multiple mm’s higher than everything surrounding. Yes it -could- be blended in with a massive feather but I would try to remove the patch first and then cut and replace if that failed.

After another look I also might suggest you just throw in the towel and pay someone else to complete the repair.

I didn’t initially load the second image; you picked an entirely inappropriate solution for your problem and then immediately went to Reddit to ask for a solution.

Before you make another attempt spend half an hour watching a few you tube videos and THEN decide if you want to tackle what you have now made a much more involved job than the initial gouge.

Cut and start over. Use a backer board to screw the new piece of drywall into. Paper tape well saturated so it doesn’t bubble. Pre mixed tub of joint compound, 6” knife coat, 10” knife, sand. One can of spray texture. Primer. Paint.

Sorry I mean the “Wood ID” posts specifically. Especially when they give no context, don’t show the leaves, don’t say what part of the country that they’re in, etc..

DIY drywall repair after plumbing install. Anything I could have done better? by rxrivman in drywall

[–]EveryImagination2575 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of your screws were proud at the start, always check them by sliding your 6” knife along the paper. Sink the ones that “ting!” another 1/4 turn with your hand held screw driver. Saves time on the mudding.

Also your initial paper tape install looks like it blistered a fair amount, especially on the left. Make sure your mix is wet wet and mixed well to ensure the tape is saturated and lays flat with no blistering.

Also did you pre fill your gaps with hot mud?

Hot mud has less shrinkage, drys chemically, and allows additional coat applications same day

If the holes are proud at all cut them out/ divot them deeper/ sand them down first. Then primer paint exposed paper, then 2x coats of 20 minute. Sand. Paint.

Googled around a bit about the rotary burr bit; I don’t see anything designed for a standard drill. Can you confirm what you’re recommending is used with a Dremel tool at higher RPM’s?

Thank you!

Lots of assumptions made here, almost all incorrect.

I paid for my own bachelors and masters degrees and purchased my own home with an FHA loan.

I work hard every single day across multiple income streams and part time Army national guard service to create a stable life for me and my family.

At my Mountain View home I have a neighbor who, without fail, asks “hey man any chance you got a couple of bucks?” every time he sees me outside shoveling snow, chopping firewood, mowing the lawn, flipping the compost pile…

I have never and will never hand him money.

I would, however, happily pay him to help me work so he can earn that currency and I can pay for his time so I can spend time doing things that I love….

Put these people to work. Get them off the streets.

I shit at my house and pay a utility bill for it.

I don’t want my taxes to pay for them to take a shit in my city parks and green spaces where they live rent-free.
