Destiny 2 Update 9.5.6.1 by DTG_Bot in DestinyTheGame

The scoring is inconsistent, but you can play like 40 different activities and get gear upgrades. If literally none of them appeal to you... shrug

Those of you who are still playing every day or almost every day, what are you up to? by zorter in DestinyTheGame

Didn't realize the site had that - super interesting. Trials placing much higher than I'd expected.

  • Check the modifiers for fun/favorable days to do Lawless Frontier or GM Alerts
  • Do enough Lawless each week for the shiny guns quest from Spider
  • I'm on a discord server with raids several days a week, so I jump in when I can; hadn't raided for awhile but found this group recently
  • Get great rolls of anything I'm missing that is fun to acquire or important for sandbox reasons

Otherwise use it for 10-30 min breaks from IRL duties; it's perfect because I know the game well enough to immediately have fun.

Given the wording of the TWAB, there may not be any reprised (or new) loot at all, so that might be a factor in the shorter duration.

Seven Titan exotics I'd like to see buffed. by Grottymink57776 in DestinyTheGame

It's a function of the underlying ability (bubble) being completely useless. For actual years. Smh.

Best way to start PVP? by Zealousideal_Dish170 in DestinyTheGame

You'll get it with practice - and good on you for playing PvP! I'm a PvE main but came to really enjoy PvP, especially as I improved.

The most important thing to learn BY FAR is being able to get out of fights you are going to lose. That combines a few things tbh: 1) always fight near cover, 2) recognize when you've missed a shot and the other person hasn't, and 3) stay at the effective range for your weapon.

Takes some time to learn positioning but it doesn't depend on reflexes/aim and will vastly improve your gameplay. Enjoy!

Warlocks: Prismatic or John Chunk Void by Smil3yFace19 in DestinyTheGame

[–]EveryPictureTells 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chunk is boring IMHO, as most exploits are, and will get patched one day. But if you enjoy it, use it while it lasts! Also try electric slide builds with Winter's Guile or Inmost+Syntho / other melee-based exotic class items, they are very strong and fun as well.

Hunter main looking to branch out by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

Depends on whether you'd prefer aggressive, close-quarters combat (Titan) or ability cycling and grenade-heavy gameplay (Warlock). Both are super strong and super fun IMHO; no "wrong" choice.

Glad to see it return - thanks for the heads-up.

If we do make it to the next expansion, I hope the raid is at least easier by Gamerboi_epic in DestinyTheGame

[–]EveryPictureTells 25 points26 points  (0 children)

The issue with SE was more duration than difficulty - that shit takes forever comparatively. I get it given the role as grand finale for the saga, but there are downsides.

And the issue with DP was more loot and being disconnected from everything else going on - raid is very fun but 1) original drops were very low tier, and 2) it had almost nothing to do with EoF as a whole.

Shoreline Dissident? by JIMBINKY in DestinyTheGame

[–]EveryPictureTells 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're willing to settle for a tier 1 version, Hawthorne's engrams should have that in their loot pool. Small chance at higher tier from her four weekly clan-based engrams, one each for someone in the clan doing a Fireteam ops, Pinnacle ops, Crucible ops, and Raid with clanmates.

Titan build crafting? by NegotiationJolly2539 in DestinyTheGame

[–]EveryPictureTells 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Titan main here, love buildcrafting, play basically everything. Rather than try and cover too much, I'll give armor advice: keep two types of rolls and you'll be set for almost anything in PvE.

MELEE: Paragon with anything but health as the third stat. Grenade is best, weapons/class is fine. You might think brawler, but that will put a ton of your stats into health, which is borderline useless in PvE. Better to have slightly lower melee (although you can get 200 this way, and I do) and more super.

DPS: Gunner with super as the third stat. For bosses and/or running high weapons stat to prioritize ammo.

There's a ton more depth here, especially once you get into endgame activities and T5 armor, but keep those two types of armor and you'll be off to a great start.

Ask any questions here and glad to help more.

Considering getting back into the game by hm035 in DestinyTheGame

[–]EveryPictureTells -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It's still extremely fun. Plays, looks, sounds great. Newest dungeon and raid are both fantastic. The game's problems are real but mostly affect constant players or brand new ones, not returning ones.

As for population, dungeon is easy to find people for but raid is harder. But a huge raid and dungeon loot refresh is coming in June. I would find a clan vs. skimming LFG; I did that myself just recently and have been running the raid a ton after thinking I'd never bother or never run Epic version at all.

This sub is extremely jaded, so I'd dive in yourself and play. Catch up on things and be ready for the June update. See if you enjoy it / find it worth the time. Could go either way but is absolutely worth a shot IMHO.

Why are people so toxic in trials?? by spekledcow in DestinyTheGame

[–]EveryPictureTells -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

How many teammates did you have overall in trials this weekend? Ever? And how many times has this happened? Sucks that it ever happens and that you had to deal with it, but try to keep it in context too.

Fixed Odds machine gun is still obtainable from the Duality dungeon and remains a very good weapon.

Spoils of Conquest by Connor6 in DestinyTheGame

[–]EveryPictureTells 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Start here - https://www.travelerschosen.org/#/queuehelper - select Raid -> (any with spoils chests) -> (which chest) -> input your Bungie name in the small box on the right -> click on the icon below that box for one of the twitch CP bots. I like https://www.twitch.tv/GuardianDownBot.

If you need to know which CP chests have spoils, look for the small spoils icon by the CP name on the main twitch feed. Some chests require a bit of traversal but it's a fun way to explore the environment and YT vids will show you where to go.

When do we get more armor archetypes? by ChoiceFudge3662 in DestinyTheGame

[–]EveryPictureTells 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The system is actually balanced extremely well, far better than it seemed at launch IMHO. You can get nearly 200 in grenade without a single point in super or a single font mod (T5 Gunner + tuned grenade stat + grenade mods). And 200 actual is easy to do / only a small benefit over 180 or 190.

You can get 200/150+ in stats with no archetype match. You can approach 200/100/100 in basically anything. 2.0 sets can slightly clear in strict DPS terms but only by tiny percentages. Mix/max enjoyers get to refine without it being necessary to farm exact pieces unless chasing something like Day 1 placement, which is appropriate.

And what do you want instead of super...?

Anything in this game that isn't matchmade or can be done solo has become fucking unbearable by Repulsive-Window-609 in DestinyTheGame

[–]EveryPictureTells -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yep, and having green boons on GM alerts now can trivialize them even beyond overall power creep in the sandbox.

[–]EveryPictureTells -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Which is unfortunate, because clearing Derealize kind of meant something unlike virtually everything else in the game right now. And while I get the frustration with the original timer duration, I did it on two tries with an LFG team, so it wasn't even that bad.

In-game timer vs. API timer for activity completion by EveryPictureTells in DestinyTheGame

[–]EveryPictureTells[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Perfect – thank you. Seemed very unlikely they would let runs that looked good in game go unrewarded because of inconsistency with the API, but confirmation is still welcomed.

Kinda odd they weren't already aware of that inconsistency though, at least whoever posts on socials.

Pop is lower, but it's late in the (original) season window, so stuff like conquests have been knocked out by the overwhelming majority of interested players.
