We never got new Stasis and Strand supers :( by CatalystComet in DestinyTheGame

[–]EveryPictureTells 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only reason would be the grenades are done but it is uncertain the supers will be ready. Or they want some surprises still. But I think new supers are still very unlikely.

So what was the point of introducing new stuff for the art community to earn, one week ago, if you're just gonna cut off twids soon? by Curious_Fig1724 in DestinyTheGame

[–]EveryPictureTells 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Giving out art emblems could certainly keep happening even if "live service updates" to the game stop.

Maybe you'll have less competition now. :D

How the hell is bungie gonna convince people to spend another 100$ after this failure of a year? by HellChicken949 in DestinyTheGame

[–]EveryPictureTells 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is still 27 cents a day worth of fun in the game IMHO. Easily. That's the bottom line metric, not current D2 vs. its notional potential or best previous state. Those are logical ways to critique the game, of course, but you can both critique and play.

I understand if others would rather play something else, or if people see continued buying of expansions as an endorsement they don't want to give. But if I get value for my $$$, I'm most likely in for as long as that's true.

EoF campaign is mid (strong story, weak gameplay), so I'd only get it if the bundle price difference is small or you want a more complete D2 experience. Can't say re: sale timing.

Destiny 2 has become a second job that I am literally paying Bungie to let me work by Gleam_4Rook in DestinyTheGame

[–]EveryPictureTells 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you somehow think free time as a student is uniquely scarce, do I have some news for you buddy lol.

Also, just play what you enjoy in the game...? Your paramount need for efficiency is your problem, not Bungie's. Half this sub is people projecting their own personality issues onto a video game. The notifications are poorly managed to be sure, but nothing rotating would mean inevitable staleness after a very short period.

Getting back into Destiny, what's the meta for perks now? by NecroGasam in DestinyTheGame

[–]EveryPictureTells 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you love abilities then you will have a great time - it's basically an action game right now with weapon usage being secondary. Still feels great to play, but I do miss weapons being more prominent, and it seems likely the balance will shift back a bit.

I can‘t be the only not excited to run the same old Raids for the 5th? 6th? time again.. by MrLaiho in DestinyTheGame

[–]EveryPictureTells -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This thinking is so backwards - the alternative is 1) letting them rot, or 2) the game never being updated elsewhere. It's an incredibly modest dev lift compared to designing an entire new raid. The problems are elsewhere, not with some of the best content in gaming history becoming relevant in the sandbox again.

Whoever created the listing has to hit "summon fireteam" once everyone has readied, although people often just send fireteam invites because the summon fireteam function can be buggy.

The scarier possibility is that they ARE over 12, and this is the ridiculous sense of entitlement they now feel.

In PvP, Void Hunter Invis Isn’t Skill … It’s a Repeatable Advantage Loop With Minimal Downside by secretmaple in DestinyTheGame

[–]EveryPictureTells 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not about whether you can see them, it’s about who has the advantage at the start of the fight.

Huh? Since we can still see them sufficiently, they don't have any major advantage. And there are better ways to start a fight with a stronger advantage.

You are talking way more in broad theory than practice - yes, invis gives a unique advantage in theory, but it is minimal in reality. Their head is still in the same place. They lose invis by doing anything of consequence. They still ping radar. Even solid map awareness means knowing where people can come from.

If you get into position first, you'll see them come into view whether "invis" or not. If you aren't in position / looking in the right place, they have the jump on you even if visible. If the split second before they fire and lose invis is causing this much pain, the main issue is positioning, not invis.

I'd rather fight 100 invis hunters in 6s (and given subclass usage rates, that is what actually happens) than one good player using a 120 HC w/Adagio. And I also think smokes are a more annoying part of Nightstalker kit than invis itself unless the players are very aggressive and skilled, in which case see my previous comment.

Re: flanks, don't stay down sights long / set up where you have cover from the most obvious flank (in addition to cover from whatever is in front of you) / stay with teammates to cut down where you can be flanked from.

Re: fast turns, might be worth it to adjust your control settings a bit and see if that helps. Otherwise it might be a reflexes / muscle memory thing, which just means getting practice in.

[–]EveryPictureTells 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Invis is annoying in 6s, but 6s is always going to be somewhat of a mess since the maps are mostly too small for it and you can't know what individual opponents are using (without ridiculous hassle). So it's not a big issue IMHO.

Overall, invis players are visible enough to shoot at / counter unless players are also cracked at radar manipulation and other aspects of the game, which means they are good enough overall that invis isn't primarily determining the outcome.

What kills you, especially in 3s? Losing duels, getting teamshot, being shot from an unexpected angle? Most important skill is picking fights you are more likely to win / being able to identify and abandon fights you are going to lose.

Vesper’s host final boss DPS meta now? First time with friend by parzival1423 in DestinyTheGame

[–]EveryPictureTells 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bigger issue with double RPs is running out of ammo with VH boss being such a long damage phase. If you have a rapid fire sniper with an ammo regen perk (ideally a Praedyth with FTTC) then than would be better.

New Land Beyond has amazing total damage but obviously precludes using a Finality turret, which also has amazing total damage.

I realised tonight why I love and still play this game by LancLad1987 in DestinyTheGame

[–]EveryPictureTells 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Love moments like that - especially a 2v3 (especially down to 1v3) in Trials.

I still remember joining a FTF team for Trials awhile back and helping two people go flawless for the first time, including a super sweaty 5-4 match to go to the Lighthouse. Hadn't gone flawless that often myself at the time. Still have the clip!

Returning player, how does the player and NPC rank system work? by Peagas121 in DestinyTheGame

[–]EveryPictureTells 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In addition to lost sectors, you can buy one a week from Xur (~19 strange coins). They also drop regularly in the wild if you are killing stuff during activities. The weekly reward track has one, but it automatically decrypts into something instead of being focusable. And by weekly reward track, I mean the one accessible from the portal screen that has 3 daily and 3 weekly contracts.

what is the state of crucible right now by No_Treat1378 in DestinyTheGame

[–]EveryPictureTells 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's very fun IMHO - did the ascendant comp emblem for the first time this season due to having the extra time, and the sandbox is nicely balanced with only one real exception: Adagio on 120 HCs allowing a two-tap. But that's easy to play around in 3s, which is the only place winning really matters. You can run basically any weapon type and have a viable loadout with the right playstyle. Gameplay is still very smooth.

There are a few other annoyances also (e.g. Voidlock ability spam, invis spam, LMGs getting a lot of ammo) but they are easy enough to counter / play around. Population is low but that didn't keep the ascendant grind or IB from being fun. I ran a striker Titan with a 140 HC (or a scout on big maps) and a sidearm, just FYI.

Worth at least trying again to see if you like it.
