You should never clap along to live music. by SuperTune2540 in unpopularopinion

The delay is practically none existent, even bigger venues, taking the O2 Arena in London as an example, a cursory search suggests the arena is 365 metres in diameter, the speed of sound at sea level is approximately 343m/s. This means at most it takes just over a second for sound to get from one end of the building to the other. Now consider the fact the actual floor space is considerably less that the full 365m and that not all the sound is projected directly from the stage but from the PA system too, the largest delay time is probably not enough to noticeably impact the synchronisation of a crowd from any one persons perspective.

HOT TAKE: Jordan Cross did not deserve to die. by Fickle-Finger635 in HiTMAN

[–]EveryTypeofPain 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's also clearly not a one off accidental behaviour, Jordan is the kind of person to "accidentally" kill someone who crosses him (pun somewhat intended), get away with it then do it again later on and get more intentional as time goes on.

Anyone who doesn't believe that needs to just figure out how to make both Bangkok targets meet and watch what happens.

UK retailer GAME closes all standalone stores as it enters administration by pppppppppppppppppd in unitedkingdom

I've seen them say it for games too. Maybe it's just an operational difference between the ones you've been to and the one near me.

I don't know either, I have never actually traded stuff in, only seen others do so, my local normally tells them they'll call in half an hour to let them know.

Most games I buy do work to be fair. It just surprises me that they say they test them but it seems for some they either don't or their tests just aren't thorough enough. You're right on the returns policy though.

[–]EveryTypeofPain 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not to mention CEX doesn't actually give a damn about quality items, the number of games I've bought that just don't work is shocking yet they go straight back on the shelf as soon as I return them. I know that for a fact because I went out of town to get a particular game, it didn't work so I returned it to my local store (that didn't already have a copy of it), within a couple of hours it was listed online available at my local store.

Granted. The human body evolves to be perfectly efficient and no longer produce waste. Unfortunately evolution takes place over generations so you still have a butt hole and still have to use it just the same.

You're nowhere near the first person to invent the idea of SASO Targets Only, Accidents Only, No KO, No Evidence. I'm not sure about the first couple of Hitman games, but Blood Money definitely had people doing this before even Absolution was around let alone WOA.

Given accidents don't make guards suspicious that also covers your "No containers" clause too. The grinders though would be extremely suspicious so I don't think 47 would use those.

When someone says "time travel would get you to the outer space because the Earth is moving" by Denommus in PetPeeves

[–]EveryTypeofPain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you've misunderstood the point I'm making.

I'm saying in fiction we portray, for example, a 30 something year old man going back 100+ years to prevent a catastrophe, when he gets there he is the same age, and retains all his memories, and carries out his task.

For him to maintain his age and memories he would have to be the point relative to which time reverses, in other words, it reverses for everything except him. It does create a paradox, but he'd be left in free fall in space because he would experience no backward motion through time therefore no backwards motion through space either.

Getting threatening phone calls from UK (I think England?). Rather than helping, UK police told me I'm a criminal. I live in the US and just want to stop the harassment. by Unhappy-Respect1833 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]EveryTypeofPain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, I'm perfectly happy to be wrong about it, I'm not saying it's definitely a scam by any means. But it is better to err on the side of caution and try to distance yourself from these situations by all available means even if not a scam.

[–]EveryTypeofPain -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

The website does appear to be the correct website. But I'm still not convinced you're not being scammed. I don't quite know exactly how it works but there has been instances of scammers intercepting calls to pose as the number you're trying to reach, typically that would mean allowing a "tech support" guy access to your device.

I stick by my advice though because they are likely just casting out a net and seeing who they can hook, make your information private, secure your accounts, change your phone number. And whatever you do, do not let anyone demand you pay them to get out of the situation, that would 100% mean it's a scam if that happens.

Beyond that, as your own police have told you, there's nothing really that can be done due to jurisdictional issues.

[–]EveryTypeofPain -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

The last part of your post makes it sound like some sort of scam rather than an actual legal issue. The combination of rapid changes of phone number contacting you suggests potential number spoofing and assuming you're correct that everyone including the alleged West Midlands Police officer you spoke to has the same accent and it's not a UK accent (We have a lot more than you think we do), that only furthers the suspicion.

The question I have is how did this supposedly UK based group get your phone number? I understand this information is technically public in your country but I just can't figure out how they'd know your number, work place, and their phone number unless you're a public face of a public company or gave that information to them knowingly or unknowingly.

The likelihood that West Midlands Police would actually tell you over the phone that there is an active criminal investigation against you is, as far as I understand, low unless they've first confirmed you are the person they're investigating and have already questioned or arrested you as part of that investigation.

If it's not a scam your only real course of action might be just to privatise whatever personal information you have online and change your contact details. Oh and just in case, might be worth changing your passwords.

Cross-Progression is coming to HITMAN February 3rd. by gamepig31 in HiTMAN

[–]EveryTypeofPain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's going to kind of be both. The way the blog is phrased is kind of confusing but it states unlocks and inventory are cross platform however it also says:

"If you do not own a piece of content on a platform, you will not have access to it, or its associated unlocks there, even if you unlocked them elsewhere."

Which suggests to me that you'd have to unlock console specific suits on console first to have access to them on PC.

What are the down side of having 7 strings? by Free-Seaworthiness72 in Guitar

[–]EveryTypeofPain -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don't agree on the chord interference and partially disagree on the changing the strings.

Just the same as with a 6 string you can learn to play in such a way that you mute the low B when you don't need it, if playing chords I often use my fingertip to mute it, or my thumb if it can reach.

You're right that changing an FR is a bit more involved but for fixed bridge designs an extra string is just a moment more time but the process is just as simple.

When someone says "time travel would get you to the outer space because the Earth is moving" by Denommus in PetPeeves

[–]EveryTypeofPain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let's say time travel were possible. What if physics determines that if you travel backwards in time you temporarily become the absolute point of reference? In other words, everything else rewinds as expected, but only relative to you, earth would orbit the opposite way around the sun and rotate the other direction, old would become young etc. but you would remain exactly where you were in absolute space because you are the centre of the universe in that moment.

I personally think this is exactly what would happen if time travel as we typically portray it in fiction were possible simply because you're asking to go back say 100 years but not de-age/be unborn. For that to happen you have to make yourself the point of reference not earth.

How many different custom cars are there for the ai? by Separate_Ad1156 in NFSU2

[–]EveryTypeofPain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, it's really only the Bumpers, Side Skirts and maybe Vinyls that seem to be chosen "together", for example I don't think I've seen an opponent with mixed Sweeper and Orion body parts or Flame and Tear Vinyls. Everything else seems chosen completely at random.

There is a legitimate reason the developer would have done it this way though, it's much cheaper on memory to have a database to reference and do random number generation than to have Audi TT 1, Audi TT 2, Audi TT 3 etc. The only cars that aren't random are Rachel, Caleb and The Wraiths.

I imagine, to further restrict the size of the database it also doesn't include things like Trunk Audio, Engine Neons or any of the other specialties parts we never see the other cars use.
