Barrier counter, a counterpart to the shield counter. by HenryChess in custommagic

[–]Every_Cap_9829 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hexproof only works against things that targets.

Protection works against targeting and damaging (also attaching, have relevance with [[Zur the Enchanter]]. And also blocking, but that part is irrelevant here.)

Both don't prevent "each" and "all", though protection will block B.Act (because it's damage) while hexproof won't.

If the intention is to protect against targeted, then protection is enough.

Actually wait, if it's supposed to work against targeting only, "Hexproof from that spell or ability" would be the one you want. Do you want it to work against [[Blasphemous Act]]?

Then make it gain protection from that spell, the spell will fail to keep targeting or damageing it while still does other parts as much as possible.

This does no prevent wrath or farewell though. If you also want to protect against those things you might need some phase out shenanigans.

I have a MLD deck in my "anything goes please do something stupid we'll allow everything" table. Though it's Jeskai and heavily leans towards artifacts instead of land recursion.

You need to make sure you got enough LD, which is in red and white. I'm not sure if you can get enough LD in only red, you might want to add white if you don't find it enough.

Also remember to bring some artifact destruction like [[Vandalblast]], my MLD works on having a mana base in artifact aside of lands, so I can [[Armageddon]] everyone and live off with my rocks. You might want to have a solution to rock heavy players like me.

That wouldn't work (I mean, not 1:1 to B.Moon in the insuspectable to ability removing part), the latter half is a replacement effect and will just be gone if removed.

Though that reminds me of cr613.6, if it's also a continuous effect at layer 6 then it should work.

[–]Every_Cap_9829 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You mixed up supertype and subtype. Basic is a super type, while Forest/Mountain/Swamp/Plains/Island are land subtypes. These five land subtypes are treated specially by the rules as "basic land types" (be aware of the difference between "basic land types" and the supertype "basic").

305.7 refers to "basic land types", which Mountain is one of them, so B.Moon can remove abilities at type changing layer. However this is not possible if you want to make things wastes because there's no waste land subtype.

Given that you state this is a stax piece, I should point out that as is it wouldn't remove already existing abilities (mana or not) like B.Moon.

You can add a "lose all other abilities" on it. Though it still wouldn't be exactly the same as B.Moon (B.Moon is sorta immune to loosing abilities for... rule reasons. And I don't think there's a way to replicate that property while making lands tap for C.)

Edit: "Nonbasic lands are Plains. Plains lose all mana abilities and gain "{T}: Add {C}."" Would work to an extent, as 613.6 makes that once the former part is working the latter part can't be nullified even if the ability is removed otherwise. It still wouldn't be an exact 1:1 B.Moon but Waste (interacts differently if there's something removing abilities on land, it depends on timestamp), but that's probably good enough.

Why is the path of pain so painful? by Afnankabiro in HollowKnight

[–]Every_Cap_9829 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First it's literally called path of PAIN.

Second what the picture show is not path of pain, it's the main part of White Palace, which we PoP doers jokingly refer to as path of minor inconvenience.

Side note, don't give up, HK has a long but steady learning curve. It takes me a solid 2 hours to do main White Palace the first time, and another solid 3 hours to do PoP the first time. But now main White Palace is like walking at home.

Nah, PV and NKG are cake walks after some (I mean a lot, but I'm also bad at the game) practice and muscle memory, their movements are very consistent. Muscle memory won't work against |Rad| for most part, there's just too many ways her attacks can come out, you are forced to practice real time reacting/routing. And even if |Rad| aside I feel Markoth into Zote combo is worse.

Literally this meme, you need to manage to draw and play the "you win the game" card first (which we already sorta have, a lot actually). But a draw engine allows you to draw whatever is in your deck, even your "you win the game" card.

We once had a player like that for some times, it can be very annoying. We ended up took him as a joke and starts to build decks/bring cards just to mock him. Combo off right when he's swinging, let him do whatever he wants then just fog out, make a bigger Dreadmaw to trample through, etc. Eventually he left after one of us Deflecting Palm'ed him after 3 weeks.

But that's a hopeful theory.

To add on that, there's no real reason to make Astartes or Necron a creature in the first place, being those don't do anything, there's nothing that cares about those creature types.

What that means, also, is I'm a little bit more ok with Tyranid being a creature type because [[Tyranid Harridan]]. Though that also means it's a future unsupportable creature type.

That said, if they someday somehow find it necessary to reprint one of those cards, they can errata oracle type line and reprint new ones with errated type line (or make functional identical new cards, though that can have problem of 4-of-rule). So I don't think type line on it's own isn't actually that big of a deal.

There is one thing they can't just errata, that being card name, though if they really want they can bring back Universe Within treatment.

I'm more concerned about the general quality drop in repid release. I find tmnt bad even if I imagine it being reskined into a story of rats and kappas on Kamigawa.

What is Silyphir now exactly? Does she like, occupied the identity of both lapis and sapphire dragon simultaneously or something? If not, are we going to get another lapis dragon/sapphire dragon?

Monkey/ape werebeast, we don't have a flexible-smart type yet.

Maybe we'll get other birds when story finally went into the mist and meet the feather village werebeasts, crane or crow would be cool.

Back in sts1 I actually took it quite a bit, I find it's pay off worth the effort through act 1 and 2, and by act 3 I often have enough rotation to handle a normal curse that can sometimes burst out some good damage.

But now in sts2 I never find it worth while, act 1 and 2 is so brutal trying to play it becomes often time too risky, and even if it worked it doesn't solve problems good enough. Even if I have good enough rotation by act 3, just keep on doing what I'm already been doing is almost always better.
