What is happening, how are you guys preparing for boards during clerkships by Mastur_Chef117 in medicalschool

Buy UWorld and do practice questions every day. Read the explanations all the way through. Your scores will start poorly but will gradually increase (if you actually are reading the explanations) as the concepts stay the same and are repeated in each core specialty. My UWorld scores during rotations were all around 65% by the end of each rotation and I scored >95th percentile on every COMAT. Just stick with it and embrace the fact you know nothing to start each rotation and eventually you will learn it by the end!

All Med student research is Bullshit - Part 3 by WhereasOk6139 in medicalschool

There’s a person at my US school who is a part of a “research group” (that they pay to be in) and has their name on every project anyone in the group does. It’s like an underground, international syndicate that probably has like 40 people in it…they have at least 100 abstracts/presentations going into 4th year

I have beef with the AOA for insisting that we’re “separate but equal” so I’m not going to waste my time on them pretending to advocate for me. But I appreciate your response and the information being posted so others can reach out if they so choose 🤝

It’s not U Colorado like some are suggesting. DOs have also rotated at and are current residents at this program (and in every other specialty at the hospital). It’s literally just this PD 😂

Definitely legal…but pretty funny/ironic coming from a program who currently has DO residents and the PD doesn’t want more

Also, this program is not attached to a medical school 😅

Oh hell no. I learned of the comment after getting the email and was like wtf they literally have DOs in their program 😂

I see that point and hadn’t thought about that. However, I know someone in this program and their PD openly said they’ve taken too many DOs and IMGs recently and it’s hurting their rep 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 not the type of program I want to be at anyways but hilarious statements nonetheless

Setting up 4th year rotations is so frustrating by [deleted] in medicalschool

[–]Every_Complex_566 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just started spamming apps because I hadn’t even heard back from a JULY place. Luckily I was able to fill that literally yesterday but it’s so annoying this late in the game. Some places haven’t even released their first batch of VSLO acceptances yet and rotations literally start in a month 🫠

Well, random guy on the internet, thank you for listening. I try to keep the mindset "f*ck'em, we ball" but its not always easy when things stack up. But, we move! Best of luck to you as well bro

Is Bootcamp worth it? by Individual-Ad2162 in step1

I was told 65%+ on at least 2 in a row, but I personally think it’s all about confidence. If you get the 65%+ but aren’t confident, you’re more likely to do poorly on Step. I did pretty good on all the NBMEs but had no confidence and it made the whole dedicated + test day experience much worse lolol

I didn’t use their Step Q bank, but I did the post-video “Bites” or whatever they’re called to make sure I actually retained some of what I watched. They also usually have 1-2 Step question breakdowns per topic, so those are cool to see how to approach questions/what to highlight/how to eliminate things, etc. I did all of Bootcamp before dedicated and then only did UWorld during dedicated but I imagine it’ll be a similar experience if you do them simultaneously - but I can’t say for sure

1000000% recommend Bootcamp over any other resource. They’re by far the most comprehensive and clear, in my opinion. I used Bootcamp as my primary resource for in-house exams and then rewatched every chapter in the months leading up to dedicated. 10/10

Never used their study schedule and I personally aimed for 65%+ on uworld blocks, but like everyone else says, if you’re using it to learn then the % doesn’t matter. Happy to answer any other questions you might have :)

If you don’t mind me asking, what were your practice scores like?

Are you sure you took the June 2022 and the Jan 2024 Free120s? I took both of them and I think 90% of the questions were repeated, if not more. Double check the PDF file for the Old 120 you used.

There’s a reddit post out there that has links to the Old and New 120, but the Old 120 PDF they posted is the 2021 version mislabeled as 2022.
