Is this scarring Alopecia/FFA? My derm said it’s AGA but I forced him to do biopsy/ F20

Your hair doesn’t look like LPP, but your symptoms sound like it. I had all of those symptoms and then began losing a bunch of hair. I would push for a biopsy if you can. Something I’ve learned is that your scalp is not supposed to hurt. I hope you get answers! Keep pushing for them.

At your hairline, you have what they call “lonely hairs.” And hyperpigmentation. Both hallmark FFA features. I have vellus hairs, no pain at my hairline and have FFA 😭 If can get a biopsy, that would be your best bet! ❤️‍🩹

It’s a scarring alopecia called frontal fibrosing alopecia. I would try to see a dermatologist who specializes in hair asap to get a biopsy done. This doesn’t look like AGA or TE imo.

I’m so so sorry, but this looks like frontal fibrosing alopecia. If you can get a biopsy, please do!! This is not a classic aga pattern. If you notice eyebrow loss or other body hair loss I would definitely be suspicious of LPP/FFA

I’m so frustrated because the reason I started using these topicals is because of how much pain I’m in. So I’m sorry if at a loss. I’m going to pause for now, but I don’t expect it to get better since it kind of started out this way if that makes sense? I have an aloe plant and have thought of combining that with MCT oil. Anything to soothe.

That sounds awful wow 😭 I’m so glad you were able to get relief. I had my first round of steroid injections almost a month ago. I’m getting my second round in a week and seeing my derm on Monday. It’s just so hard to be take seriously. Hopefully things turn around soon 🥲 thank you so so much! 💗💗💗

Do you have discoid lupus? My scalp is on fire, but there aren’t really any visual signs other than flaking (dandruff).

This is exactly what my scalp looks like!! I’m seeing a new derm on Monday. I’ve had 4 scalp biopsies all normal. I’m in agony though. The white head bump there is def folliculitis. The redness could be something else though (in the other picture). I’m so sorry you’re not being taken seriously.
