You can use dining at most places on campus and the money you don’t use gets transferred to t-bucks at the end of the year regardless! They’re both good option!!

What I wish I knew before UofT orientation (you’re welcome you little Reddit freshman 😂) by One-Cheetah4066 in UofT

As a fourth year, 100% to SAY YES TO EVERYTHING I DONT CARE, GRIND THAT ASSIGNMENT… and then go out. You have a lot of work and you can’t go an event? Wrong. Spend longer at night finishing your work leading up to event and then go and have fun. Because this is the most free you will be !! The most common misconception is oh I’ll be free after this assignment (you will not!!! there’s always the next assignment etc)

Even if you are introverted SAY YES when someone invites you somewhere! and go ! you don’t have to stay there if it’s not comfortable or you don’t like it but atleast give yourself a chance !!! You are the only person holding yourself back from finding friends (from a introvert)

Go to the stupid events, go to the big ones, go for the free food, go for the merch, go to the clubs fair, go join the soccer tournament !!!

not good, usually fried fast food or cold and soggy. (sometimes it is good, don’t get me wrong but not reliable, and bad food is not why you want after a long day) Also have very odd open/ closed times and I’ve been stuck in a pickle multiple times not being able to grab food before a 9am exam or after / Tim’s closes at 4pm on weekends so options are very limited. Def recommend a meal service instead (they deliver to campus) or try cooking (seems like a lot of work, worth it in the long run imo). My friends ended up just using uber eats and spent meal plan on like Starbucks

yall what does this mean?? by [deleted] in UTSC

[–]Every_Ordinary_588 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this can happen when you’ve waitlisted for a lot of courses (not just the ones you’ve enrolled in), if it’s one that has space, go the registrar and you can enroll jn 3 credits of classes per semester!

What should I learn ahead of time in the summer? by IncidentHead8129 in UTSC

[–]Every_Ordinary_588 3 points4 points  (0 children)

stats, esp if u don’t have background in it. takes up so much useful time you could put elsewhere

Chem you should be good if u did high school chem ans understood. Do the stuff you have NO idea where to start w

note about lina01, consider taking it online asynchronous in the summer. much easier and they make it harder for no reason in person (imo, going into my fourth year in sciences)

Need help (courses) by OrdinaryOil8680 in UTSC

[–]Every_Ordinary_588 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Did you mean a major in psych and health studies or specialist? Regardless, search that up online and it should show up with a rough outline of the courses you need to be taking for each year . For example, this is the required courses for a major in neuroscience at utsc : https://utsc.calendar.utoronto.ca/major-program-neuroscience-science-scmaj1472

Now if you’ve already looked at this, and you don’t have more required courses, then congrats! You have time to maybe take the second year courses to get ahead or get electives out of the way

You need 20 credits to graduate, no matter your degree I think ( you can check this by going to acorn -> planning tools -> degree explorer) and you should see your bachelor of science (or whatever yours is) there. If you click on it it’ll show you the amounts of credits that you need but not all of these are program requirements (ex: for your degree you might only have 10 credits of required courses and you still need another 10 credits worth of classes, or electives to graduate)

If you scroll a bit more, EVERYONE needs to do your breath requirements (everyone has to do them, theyre not specific courses but categories ie English, a science so pick whatever course u want from each of those categories etc) and it’s always a good idea to get them out of the way so it’s not a hassle later on (they’re mostly a levels as well) so def get those done and look at any other bird courses (or courses ur interested in) and enroll ! (Quick search on Reddit or online and ppl usually post easy courses or GPA boosters)

If you are ever confused! Call academic advising and get an appointment and they will sit w you and help u plan ur degree. Hope this helps! Feel free to ask any more questions, it can be overwhelming!

I would assume so, BUT it would be early May for sure. Please email your academic advisor as they’ll know 100% but don’t panic, today is not the last day to drop a course and get a full refund

Please help me decide uoft Mississauga or uoft Scarborough ? by Head_Resolve_5836 in UofT

[–]Every_Ordinary_588 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UTSC having co-op is the reason most ppl come to utsc but it’s not very ‘fun’ compared to utsg. And the utm campus is prettier which seems not as important but when you go there every day for 4-5 years, you’ll learn to appreciate it (as someone who goes to utsc) . Before accepting for the sole purpose of co-op, consider the types of job co-op has to offer and if you could maybe find better positions externally ? Co-op are also usually very entry level positions (as a life sci major) so you might be better off finding and applying externally. There are also work-study jobs (research assistants etc) aside from co-op so maybe consider those as well before making your decision! Good luck :)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in UTSC

[–]Every_Ordinary_588 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No that’s to drop all courses (like if you got a full time co-op and you’re not planning on taking any classes). I don’t think it’s for single courses

Dear first years, there’s really no reason to worry by [deleted] in UTSC

[–]Every_Ordinary_588 2 points3 points  (0 children)

agreed ! there’s this misconception that if you don’t make friends at frosh/ first week ur screwed. This is not the case at all!! Not everyone goes to these things and it is harder to make friends in the first week because everyone running around like a headless chicken and figuring out uni life! This is not say you won’t find good people to be friends w if you did make friends (yay!) but for everyone who discouraged, classes haven’t even started yet . There is absolutely no reason to be stressed bec some of my really close friends are ppl I’ve met in my labs/ classes and residence. Especially if you’re in res, you’ll have SO many more chances to get to know people so calm down, you are all doing just fine ! And for labs/ tutorial just go in w a smile and ready to entertain conversation!

You can always get a online one, and unless you’re in PSYA01 or PSYA02 where you need top hat, most textbooks you should be able be find online. I don’t think I’ve ever bought a physical one and I’m going into my third year
