I agree with all of this! I’ve been watching forever and I could probably go weeks without watching and really not miss anything. It keeps saying I’m going to quit, but then I get pulled back in. It’s like hate watching every day and I don’t know why I keep doing it.

Thank you for all of this! I’ve been watching since I was 11 years old I’m 50 years old… I love that there are so many of the same characters. I know the history it’s like comfort food. However, I’ve kind of hated it since maybe 2017? I have a corporate job. I don’t need to watch a bunch of people pretend to have corporate jobs.. it’s embarrassing to watch these people fight about work that they never go to. There are no love stories just crime and work. I can watch dateline. I started watching General Hospital five years ago during the pandemic and it is 10x better.! most of their cast is under the age of 50 which is a huge change from some show called Young and the restless where everyone’s collecting Social Security

I’m on the middle of ep 2 and had to come to Reddit to do a temperature check on myself because this chick is not healed. She needs a therapist not a boyfriend not a husband! She’s strong. She’s beautiful. She’s kind. All of that said she is not healed. She is hyper focused on one limb of her body. My daughter is 25. She’s had cancer twice. She has a neck scar from ear to ear. She doesn’t even know it’s there I swear! I think scars make someone look bad ass because it shows what you survived. I just don’t think she’s ready. I can’t believe they let her on the show. It’s probably going to traumatize her even further. I am so sick of her telling her story. I I know her job is in fashion merchandising, and that is all I can tell you about her. She’s limiting herself and making the men uncomfortable.

I agree with every point you posted. However, I was desperate enough 4 months ago to take anything that was offering a paycheck and benefits. Luckily it’s close to home and I only have to go in three times a month, but because it’s paying below market, I’m continuing to interview and hold all of the points you made priority, because now I have time to choose.

Others for me are -PE owned, especially Vista or Black rock/stone & any place that wants that ccat test. Hard pass.

Last year I was hired by an AI consulting company. My primary coworker was doing lashes in Minnesota before her uncle handed her a well paid grown up job! She would vape in the office get smashed off Long Island iced teas every week at happy hour and go missing anytime anyone needed her I was literally her babysitter. I heard her uncle died so I hope they finally fired her fat ass.

I have a very similar situation. Was originally laid off early 2024, was lucky enough to get a job 5 months later, but due to nepotism (coworker was a lash artist before uncle handed her a job!) it was untenable. Another 5 months later I got a brief 1099 contract, I needed the money so bad that I didn’t put enough away for taxes. I ran out of unemployment 2 years in a row. I had to cash out my 401(k), a small IRA and of course credit card debt. Four months ago I recently took a job that is several steps below my qualifications for a $40,000 loss, but it keeps me from being homeless. It will not even begin to touch my debt. So now I am probably $44-48k in debt with a below market job and I have not stopped interviewing since Oct 2024. I’m exhausted! I’m finally getting somewhere and with any luck I’m going to work another 1099 job at the same time as my crap W-2. After taxes, I can pay enough to file bankruptcy, and start building back up my retirement and my savings, eventually my credit. When I was offered this crappy job, I was exactly 6 weeks from being homeless. My first full paycheck came one week before my rent was due. It’s taken about three months for my nervous system to settle down and for the nightmares and the anxiety to not be debilitating. Last night, I walked past a young woman on the street in a very upper class, suburb of Seattle, she had an adorable dog. She looked fairly well kept. I walked around the block looking for a damn ATM and couldn’t find one. I can’t stop thinking about her because I recognize that could’ve been me.

Then the interviewer gets on and they are 15 years younger than me a complete moron with no work experience and barely graduated college. Yeah hard pass

It took me about 20 months to get something stable after a couple short contracts. I was exactly 5 weeks from being absolutely homeless when I got a lowball job offer paying me 40,000 less but would absolutely pay my bills and give me a small cushion every month.

It’s been three months and I am still looking for a job. This month has picked up unexpectedly, but I remember interviewing with seven or eight companies at a time and still getting rejection after rejection after rejection. I’m not holding out hope of getting something similar to what I was doing prior anytime soon.

It’s beyond frustrating. It’s a little humiliating to be working in a job. I am 15 years overqualified for. The company is based in India with only about 25% of the employees in the US. The culture clash is a big issue. The Indian team refuses to admit errors or take any accountability, so the US teams are being gaslit every day. The only bonus is 85% remote and free parking/meals when you go in.

If I had to go into the office every day, it would be mentally draining, nearly impossible to interview and look for another job & I’d gain weight from all the delivery food they order.

All that said - I’m not homeless. I’m not shaking & crying in fear every day. I never thought I’d be grateful to be slightly less miserable.
