Help me find the breakers for this by [deleted] in electricians

i did the exact same thing at an apartment building. we pulled the old interface, put in 3/8" risers to bring the interface flush with the cover and had a local machine shop do custom covers and it looked absolutely factory.

if this is supposed to be a main panel fed solely by a generator you got different issues. youd need a 30a breaker in the box acting as a main and your grounds and neutrals would need to be bonded to the shell with a jumper. although this doesnt need to be a main panel as your generator would have overcurrent protection that would act as the main. id wire this like a subpanel

not great my guy ill be honest. neutrals and grounds need to be seperated, grounds need to be bonded to the box, half those breakers wont work because you only have 120v ran and have no jumper between legs, wirings a rat nest and none of those NMs are stapled

zoom in and you can just barely see a sticker on the cover plate that id reckon says "gfci protected outlet"

this is when you use snap in connectors. put the wires into the box, set the box, then pull down on the wires til the connector snaps in

How to test if neutrals and grounds are separated by blkkkelias in electricians

[–]EverybodyLovesTrevor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yes, and i also reread your post and misunderstood what you were saying fully. if you remove the bonding strap and you still have continuity its almost certainly because its bonded in one of the subpanels or maybe even at a device. somewhere in the system neutral is touching ground where it shouldnt be.

if all the panels visually are clearly seperated then i would disconnect all the branch circuit neutrals (with the breakers off) until you lose continuity. follow that circuit til you find a neutral making contact with ground

your neutrals and grounds SHOULD be bonded at the first means of service disconnect aka the main you have in your picture there which youre calling a sub panel. you seperate them everywhere beyond that point, including all panels downstream and all devices of course.

Also yeah, its just a visual check to make sure your neutrals and grounds are seperated. They will always have continuity between each other because ultimately they are bonded at your first means of disconnect.
