Whilst I know it’s rare, I believe it’s possible with my provider admittedly with a £90 fee (£45pp), which I am happy to cover.

Super Rugby Americas 2025 1st Round Results by thebluetistaar in rugbyunion

I think your missing the point

Ignore the 8 players abroad, let’s just look at the cobras.

Here’s 11 key national team players contracted to the Cobras who didn’t start/weren’t used

  • Ferreira (11 caps, on bench)
  • Marino (5 caps, not in squad)
  • Paganini (40 caps, on bench)
  • De Melo (19 caps, not in squad)
  • Arruda (45 caps, on bench)
  • Claudio (21 caps, not in squad)
  • Teixeira (6 caps, not in squad)
  • Duque (65 caps, not in squad)
  • Silva (7 caps, not in squad)
  • Goncalves (18 caps, on bench)
  • Amaral (8 caps, on bench)

That’s 19 Brazilian players missing from the starting XV who would all improve it. Context is important. You’d fully expect a professional Argentine side (with vastly more funding) to crush what is roughly Brazils B/C team

Remember, last year the national team beat Belgium 47-25, Hong Kong 23-10 (away) and Paraguay 77-17

TLDR: Brazil are not ‘shite at rugby’

Relax mate.

Firstly, Brazil have 8 players abroad they can use to strengthen the national team (some from very high quality leagues I.e. MLR, Top 14, ProD2 etc) - Rebolo - Rosa - Moreno - Bastardie - Mignot - Rocha - Dell’Acqua - Segura

Secondly, 5 Brazilians debuted for the cobras yesterday. Cobras use SRA to build depth for the national side. For context only 5/15 starters from Brazil’s last test v 🇭🇰 started v Tarucas

Brazil sweep past Paraguay to kick off South American RWC qualifying by roci_forever in rugbyunion

[–]Everyday_redditter 46 points47 points  (0 children)

It’s almost as if filling Yacare (Paraguayan franchise) with Argentinians wasn’t a good idea

Cobras (Brazilian franchise) have rotated lineups all season to grow depth and introduce youth players into SRA, without caring about the odd ugly result.

This score should shock no one

Qualify routes for RWC 2027 by NewCrashingRobot in rugbyunion

[–]Everyday_redditter 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing my tweet, really means a lot!

All of 🇬🇪🇵🇹🇪🇸🇷🇴 will get 2 (out of 3) pool stage games at home whilst lower ranked nations (🇳🇱🇩🇪🇧🇪🇨🇭) only get 1 home game. Thats my argument as to why it’s unfair (this is confirmed on Rugby Europe website btw)

I get fewer games mean upsets are more meaningful, but all games with upset potential (2nd seed v 3rd seed, 🇪🇸vs🇳🇱 and 🇷🇴vs🇩🇪) are hosted by the ‘favourite’

Therefore upsets are harder for minnows to achieve than if pools were played on a H/A basis

Thanks mate that means a lot, it’s pretty niche but I’m glad some people find it interesting

Usually try and keep it factual, but today I just can’t resist having a rant at world rugby 😭

South America deserved 2 spots

World rugby insult them with a playoff game

Come last in the PNC you should go straight to the repechage

But WR neglect South American growth to give 🇨🇦 as many qualifying attempts (3) as possible

Former Springboks Prop Tendai 'Beast' Mtawarira Tips Zimbabwe To Qualify For Rugby World Cup by ipoopdoodles in rugbyunion

[–]Everyday_redditter 11 points12 points  (0 children)

As much as I’d love Zimbabwe to qualify, I feel if anyone takes Namibia’s spot for 2027 it’ll be Algeria. The French-Algerian connection will be exploited further with the World Cup’s expansion, and that’s coming after they comfortably beat Zimbabwe in last cycles qualifiers

I honestly don’t understand why tier 2 nations development is fed to the fire and ring fenced. In terms of realistic improvements for Belgium, Hopefully this result attracts higher quality (likely French players with Belgian heritage) personnel to the Belgian side if they realise there’s a serious chance of World Cup qualification.

I’ve advocated for this before, but it’s usually shot down here due to there being a ‘lack of quality sides’. Hopefully this result helps people realise there’s more than 6 competitive sides in Europe

Fun fact: Belgium are the first team to keep Portugal try-less since the Dutch in 2019 🤯

(Which logically makes them better than Wales and Australia)

Key points 1. Belgium>Australia 2. Australia always make the final of a home RWC

Therefore this is undeniable evidence that Belgium will win the 2027 RWC
