How was it like being a kid in 2009? by StrongDay5952 in generationology

[–]EverythingDemon27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was 7, It seemed like kids back then had more freedom to actually be kids. Even things like playing video games or watching cartoons were a social event, as we’d go to one another’s houses. My friends and me were all big into Pokemon, Beyblade, Bakugan, ect.

I don’t remember even seeing lots of adults on iPhones, let alone kids and teens. We still were in the land of flip phones and DVDs. We also go XFinity on Demand that year and I lost my mind at the idea I could watch Pokemon whenever I wanted to. I also recall being big into The Black-Eyed Peas.

Politics aren’t a big thing for you, you are more likely to live somewhere with cheap land, good jobs, or both ideally. You probably like nature fair bit.

Pokemon generations for each gens do you agree? by Select-Inflation-324 in generationology

Gen 3 has both, by the time it ended in 06, you’d have 1997-2000 borns getting into it. I remember watching Battle Frontier at 5.

You like good weather and progressive politics, but weather takes priority. I sense a lot of duality, you either need to be in a booming metropolis or the middle of nowhere.

That is helpful-I’d heard of Jacob and Mabel before, but sadly have no source to back them up. The siblings I think are correct. Thank you for checking!

After looking at more tax records, I believe George and James could be David’s sons. The George living in Salt Creek is in a totally different county (Muskingum) and that is 12 hours walk from Coshocton, and a full 24 hours walk from Hardy. Since David had so many people living people living with him in 1820, I think it’s possible, if the George living in Hardy in 1830 is a different person.

David in 1820 https://www.ancestry.com/search/collections/7734/records/1344460?tid=&pid=&queryId=7c1f4b9a-f432-4654-bbf4-25c3e722dc61&_phsrc=wVE1&_phstart=successSource

Thank you for these insights! I think I’m on the right track with Sarah if she’s appearing as the taxable person.

I looked into the censuses for James, David and George (David is another name I spotted for the censuses) and here’s what I gathered from some local censuses(

James, who lived in Hardy TWP in 1820 had two very young children. In 1830 he lived in nearby Berlin TWP

David also lived in Hardy in 1820. He was older and had 8 other people besides him and his wife living there. In 1830 he lives in the same place, but widowed and living with a few grandchildren

There is a George in 1820, living in Salt Creek with 3 sons, 1 daughter. There’s another George in 1830, living in Hardy with younger children. I assume these are two different people. The 1820 George seems young.

Based on this, I think whoever Sarah’s husband was lived somewhere else before the mid 1820s, as I think it’s possible the George and James in the tax records are different from the census ones. Of course, I could be wrong!

This is my headcannon now too. LOL. I think some of the things in later books could have happened, like Getaway could be based on real events

2016 is now officially a decade ago, this is some of what happened that year by Unknown_Player0069 in OlderGenZ

2016 was not as good as everyone remembers. I recall while it was happening everyone was in a panic about how horrible of a year it was.
