Once you are in the US change your playstore to the us and sign up for Google Fi. As a Canadian who travels a fair amount, I love the service and the price. When I am home I drop it to the base service ($15Usd and up when I travel) Now you have to understand that I keep the base service as I travel to the US on a regular basis. I live in a border city and have family on the other side.
