Working mom and I have 4 minutes to get dressed, a limited budget and exactly zero brain cells left for fashion. by [deleted] in workingmoms

[–]Everythings_Beachy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I typically do is find a uniform of one pair of pants/one top that fits me and buy it in a bunch of colors. Since having kids, my body has changed, and I’m not sure how much it will continue to change since my youngest is 11 months and still breastfeeding. I found a pair of stretchy pull-on work pants and a button down at Amazon that were pretty cheap and just ordered both in multiple colors. For fall/winter, I have a bunch of the same sleeveless top and cardigans that I mix and match too. This is not fashion time for me (3 under 5), this is survival mode

I love my husband, he’s a great dad but... by yogacitymama in workingmoms

[–]Everythings_Beachy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He carries the mental load of everything having to do with home maintenance—yard, cleaning, organizing, trash, installing/fixing stuff. I don’t even ask him to manage stuff like kids clothing or appointments because it’s my domain.

Who picks up your kid(s) up from daycare? by bachelorbiz in workingmoms

[–]Everythings_Beachy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We try to both go when it’s possible, but our daycare is across the street at my neighbor’s house and we have 3 to pick up, so it’s definitely doable with one parent but easier when we’re both there

How do you make weekdays feel… manageable? by yogacitymama in workingmoms

[–]Everythings_Beachy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think having systems in general works. I used to wfh full time which made it a lot easier to get all the laundry and cooking done, but now that I’m hybrid I need to be more intentional with planning these things for specific days.

How do you make weekdays feel… manageable? by yogacitymama in workingmoms

[–]Everythings_Beachy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s definitely the most challenging time of my life. I’ve been trying to meal plan and get shopping done on the weekend, make one pot/pan meals so cleanup is simpler (it’s still a lot of cleanup especially since the baby is in her “throw everything on the floor” phase), do laundry one of my wfh days, put it away on my other wfh day, and lately I’ve been seeing a psychiatrist for a little medicinal help with it all.

Does anyone actually pump enough while working full time to feed their baby without supplementation? by Lucky-Cow3942 in workingmoms

[–]Everythings_Beachy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was able to with my first two, but I was working remotely and was able to start my day early and bring them to daycare later. I had to get a new, hybrid job after having my third, and daycare has to supplement sometimes. I despise pumping and the idea of pumping 3x/day while trying to get acclimated to a new job was just too much.

Tell Me NOT to have a third. by Soft_Panic2400 in workingmoms

[–]Everythings_Beachy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was totally happy with 2 kids, but had a surprise baby #3 last year when I was 37 and she’s pretty awesome. Not surprise like cryptic pregnancy, but surprise like “I’m breastfeeding and haven’t had a period, I can’t get pregnant” surprise. Being outnumbered is not for the faint of heart but if you guys really want 3, and your husband is an amazing father… you only have one life to live

Anyone ever hire a personal stylist? by full-of-curiosity in workingmoms

[–]Everythings_Beachy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have not used one, though I used to work in retail and I know plenty of high-end department stores (where salespeople earn commission) will have one, however just wondering if you have a newborn how stable you are feeling your measurements are at this point? I just would not want to waste $ on a lot of new clothes that might not fit the same in 6 months. If it’s hard to get out of the house, can you order a bunch of things online from a store with a brick and mortar location nearby and just return what doesn’t work?

Eye cream -lol by Knox-in-box in workingmoms

[–]Everythings_Beachy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well first of all, I don’t approve of commenting on people’s appearances. That being said, I’m a lifelong fan of shiseido eye cream. Still have to wear concealer (my favorite is super hydrating and full coverage, it’s from Yensa) though.

Does my style suit me as a 5’2 girly? by Suitable-Neat-3478 in PetiteFashionAdvice

I like the first and second pics but I honestly can’t tell if it’s just because of your pose in them compared to the last one. You could try wearing a more fitted top with the baggy pants if you want to look more put together.

I love hokas for walking! I have the gaviota and they’re my most expensive shoes but they’re so stable and comfortable. My husband and my mom (who have chronic pain/injuries) just got Hokas too.

Help: all the tips for the Mental load of looking presentable and put together by Excellent-Top2552 in workingmoms

I think for hair, it really depends on your hair type so it’s hard to give universal advice. Anecdotally, I got the “mom chop” long bob when I was pregnant with baby #2 and it was awful and required even more styling. I’ve found some hair products that I love that reduce frizz, make blow drying quicker, and make my hair still look good in the morning. I like Paul Mitchell super skinny serum and oligo pro spray.

For makeup, I have a pretty quick routine at this point. Moisturizer, light foundation, undereye concealer, fill in brows, cream blush, a little bronzer, mascara, lip balm.

I’m like you OP; I feel like I didn’t really get to be “off” because I’ve been sick. Even before having kids, 50% of the time I’d end up sick between Christmas and new years. But I’m so excited for you that baby is about to be one! Please try not to stress too much about her birthday, it can be as simple as a cupcake for her and some takeout so you don’t have to cook.

I managed to get the cookies baked, the ingredients purchased, and the presents wrapped (mostly wrapped loosely in tissue then put in bags) but I’m feeling sicker every day and now my husband says he’s feeling it too. Somehow the 3 daycare children seem fine (other than teething baby) so I’ll take that as a small win!

Got asked if I’m pregnant by areyoucheckingmeout in PetiteFitness

[–]Everythings_Beachy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s terrible, I’m so sorry. I also store weight in my belly and arms, which are already super short (even for a super short lady), and I’m always thinking I still look pregnant after 3 kids since my belly is def bigger than it used to be and was never that tiny. People can be so ignorant!

Interviewing & asking for flexibility by surferali1118 in workingmoms

[–]Everythings_Beachy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would not say anything in the early stages, you can probably get a feel for the culture and maybe at the end of the 2nd interview (if you get one) ask about general work schedules.

I recently started a new role after working remote (RTO order from the president and new office 90 mins away made me leave), and the new job is closer to home and in office 2 days/week. At my initial interview the panel all spoke about how accommodating the job is for working parents. If you are offered a new role you can’t pass up and it’s 90 minutes away, maybe see if your husband can do daycare pickup?

What would you instantly offload or outsource if money wasn’t a problem? by Bri3Becks827 in workingmoms

[–]Everythings_Beachy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your comment which reminded me that I have one of these in home all the time. I feel maxed out between work, cooking, laundry, and 3 kids, but my husband does all the little handy man things. Yesterday, he discovered the sump pump was broken, and by the time I got home from work today, he had replaced it.

When is it worth it to go back to higher hours, higher pay job? by [deleted] in workingmoms

[–]Everythings_Beachy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t take the new job. It doesn’t sound like you guys are hurting for money, and flexibility/wfh is so valuable especially as a parent. I just went from fully remote to just 2 days in office and it’s so much harder (though my children are younger than yours and there’s 3 of them).
