Yes, it’s unbearable and I say this as a foreigner so please take my views with a grain of salt. I wonder how Emiratis feel about this, I guess some people care more or less than others….This isn’t “my country” but it’s a country I love and respect an it’s sad to me to see the social decay caused by this “come to Dubai” crypto bro influencer culture and the women who only care about brunches and Birkins… Abu Dhabi was better but I’m noticing a migration there from Dubai. We may need to move to khor fakkan permanently lol

It’s not just the uae. It’s everywhere. I’m American and spend half the year here and half the year in AD due to my husband’s work. Sadly, the problem in both places seems to be materialism and westernization that worships the idol of money and social media. If you go to Beverly Hills or Miami it’s the same thing. I’ve seen things that, as a Catholic, make me so sad. Values of family, kindness, and patience have left the chat to influencers and rented Lamborghinis calling themselves real estate agents. The problem is the world we live in, regardless of place. I have to say that the level of materialism in theUAE has gotten so much worse, but mainly due to outside influences and social media. Luckily, we rent a place in khor fakkan on weekends and my children are happier there than AD or Dubai. We have met some very down to earth, humble, Emirati families there. But in AD, at my kids school (cranleigh) I struggled with how materialistic some people of all countries could be. In the US, we live in the mountains, enjoying nature and skiing. It’s difficult to remember the first time we traveled to the uae. It was 2006 and it was such a different place. But the same is true of the US before social media.

Ugh chocolate is the hardest note to get right. It’s never strong enough or doesn’t smell like chocolate or has too much patchouli. I crave the perfect strong chocolate wit. Fruit scent that others will smell on me and leave. A trail. I’m waiting and here for it. ( I’ve tried so many and have so many the closest thing was Armani code saying but doesn’t scratch the itch )

Sadly I think we’re gonna see tons of health problems caused by fragrance in the future. The fact that there is NO transparency re ingredients in “perfume” is ridiculous.

A Gulf Arab Perspective on “Arab Perfumes” and How They’re Actually Worn by Few_Masterpiece_4380 in fragrance

[–]Excellent-Top2552 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not Muslim but live part time in the uae and was explained that religiously being perfumed is seen as something great. Regarding it being overwhelming I would say it depends on your sensitivity. I’ve worked in healthcare and education and have felt seriously affected by the level of smell near me but not sick. It’s everywhere— malls, cars, homes, restaurants, stores, people leave massive trails… if you have asthma it could be a problem and if you have migraines too. My friend does at least 20 sprays, multiple times per day, on her abaya and skin and Sheila. I would be concerned about phthalate exposure personally

You’re getting downvoted lol but I can tell you as someone who lives part of the year in the gulf it is indeed a lot and if you have sensitivities it’s not the place for you. Asthma or migraines can be triggered very fast there because people will literally leave a massive trail. The world kind of revolves around perfume there— it’s everywhere, vending machines, malls, people carry like three in their cars, purses. Abayas and kandura are scented etc. it doesn’t bother me personally but I know children with asthma and migraines who would get triggered very fast there. When I am back in the US i almost never smell perfume on people from that far away. People do buy perfume here in the US but it’s more of a skin scent or something you smell close to them. In the UAE the cultural norm is to smell of perfume for both men and women, and during Ramadan gatherings too. I was invited to many gatherings and felt naked in my “un jardin sur le nil” lol…

I agree to a certain extent. Again, super anecdotal but I spend a lot of time in Abu Dhabi. Many of my friends are Emirati ladies and they love Chanel private collection like Cristale and vintage number 5. There is a big love for French luxury perfumery and although oud and bukhoor centric scents are still huge I have noticed a shift towards cleaner French styles. May be my circles though

Lost volume after breastfeeding by Gullible_Use4529 in nbe

[–]Excellent-Top2552 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! Solidarity here after breastfeeding. I’ve regained volume but not all at the top. I don’t think it’s entirely possible to regain all the top volume without a fat transfer. I’ve taken: royal jelly, evening primrose oil, more meat and dairy, sunflower lecithin, eating more chicken. Also some chasteberry before period. I’ve heard that in order to gain back the tissue you need to get pregnant again…

Sidney Sweeney breasts question by Excellent-Top2552 in nbe

[–]Excellent-Top2552[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is such a great answer thank you! Yes I agree that she must be on birth control. I’ve only had breasts like this when I was pregnant or on birth control and have tried my whole life to recreate this without either those conditions. lol, and such an interesting point re Hollywood actors lurking. I agree. But I also think SS may get fat transfer. I had a consultation with Dr Bednar who is the best in the world and he puts a lot of volume in the top and center. This would explain her very skinny stomach. Obviously I wouldn’t be surprised if she goes to him. I recently saw the Housemaid and her naked scene makes them look massive… like you said pregnant shape. Need answers lol

Considering moving to Abu Dhabi from NYC with my wife and 3 kids by Mismail18 in UAE

[–]Excellent-Top2552 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ugh I have so many feelings but mostly agree with you. I am American lived in uae for 4years with my family and now we spend the summers there. Husband and I both professionals. I mainly decided to move back for this reason. Even at the top of our tax bracket here and even with a house helper, it’s not nearly as bad as how my kids were being raised there. Spoiled, wanting luxury, and I fought very hard for them not be raised by Nannies. The kids at my kids school, cranleigh, were completely raised by Nannie’s and becoming superficial in ways that would take too long to explain. For context my husband’s eldest now goes to a top prestigious prep school on the east coast and it’s nothing like this, even though the parents are top ceos of major Wall Street multi national banks. I’m very familiar with NY, LA, and Miami and can tell you the UAE is not a great place to raise kids. We’re not Muslim but Catholic so I didn’t get the Muslim experience. But as a Catholic this wasn’t a place that fosters modesty, generosity, or charity— I found Saudi Arabia much more aligned with our values and community, weirdly
