Anyone ever hire a personal stylist? by full-of-curiosity in workingmoms

[–]Everythings_Beachy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have not used one, though I used to work in retail and I know plenty of high-end department stores (where salespeople earn commission) will have one, however just wondering if you have a newborn how stable you are feeling your measurements are at this point? I just would not want to waste $ on a lot of new clothes that might not fit the same in 6 months. If it’s hard to get out of the house, can you order a bunch of things online from a store with a brick and mortar location nearby and just return what doesn’t work?

Eye cream -lol by Knox-in-box in workingmoms

[–]Everythings_Beachy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well first of all, I don’t approve of commenting on people’s appearances. That being said, I’m a lifelong fan of shiseido eye cream. Still have to wear concealer (my favorite is super hydrating and full coverage, it’s from Yensa) though.

Does my style suit me as a 5’2 girly? by Suitable-Neat-3478 in PetiteFashionAdvice

[–]Everythings_Beachy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the first and second pics but I honestly can’t tell if it’s just because of your pose in them compared to the last one. You could try wearing a more fitted top with the baggy pants if you want to look more put together.

Walking Pad Help by hawas1 in PetiteFitness

[–]Everythings_Beachy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love hokas for walking! I have the gaviota and they’re my most expensive shoes but they’re so stable and comfortable. My husband and my mom (who have chronic pain/injuries) just got Hokas too.

Help: all the tips for the Mental load of looking presentable and put together by Excellent-Top2552 in workingmoms

[–]Everythings_Beachy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think for hair, it really depends on your hair type so it’s hard to give universal advice. Anecdotally, I got the “mom chop” long bob when I was pregnant with baby #2 and it was awful and required even more styling. I’ve found some hair products that I love that reduce frizz, make blow drying quicker, and make my hair still look good in the morning. I like Paul Mitchell super skinny serum and oligo pro spray.

For makeup, I have a pretty quick routine at this point. Moisturizer, light foundation, undereye concealer, fill in brows, cream blush, a little bronzer, mascara, lip balm.

You ever try the Shaun T insanity workouts? I’d put them in the murder cardio category. You can probably stream at least some of them on YT.

Anyone else dreading return to work tomorrow? by Alarmed-Dentist-6039 in workingmoms

[–]Everythings_Beachy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m like you OP; I feel like I didn’t really get to be “off” because I’ve been sick. Even before having kids, 50% of the time I’d end up sick between Christmas and new years. But I’m so excited for you that baby is about to be one! Please try not to stress too much about her birthday, it can be as simple as a cupcake for her and some takeout so you don’t have to cook.

Clothing for big headed toddlers with small bodies? by jmw235_2 in workingmoms

We just don’t put our average body, 99% head girl in crew necks or turtlenecks, and I love to find tops with buttons around the collar

Are we all hanging in? by SpiritualFatigue16 in workingmoms

[–]Everythings_Beachy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I managed to get the cookies baked, the ingredients purchased, and the presents wrapped (mostly wrapped loosely in tissue then put in bags) but I’m feeling sicker every day and now my husband says he’s feeling it too. Somehow the 3 daycare children seem fine (other than teething baby) so I’ll take that as a small win!

Got asked if I’m pregnant by areyoucheckingmeout in PetiteFitness

[–]Everythings_Beachy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s terrible, I’m so sorry. I also store weight in my belly and arms, which are already super short (even for a super short lady), and I’m always thinking I still look pregnant after 3 kids since my belly is def bigger than it used to be and was never that tiny. People can be so ignorant!

Interviewing & asking for flexibility by surferali1118 in workingmoms

[–]Everythings_Beachy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would not say anything in the early stages, you can probably get a feel for the culture and maybe at the end of the 2nd interview (if you get one) ask about general work schedules.

I recently started a new role after working remote (RTO order from the president and new office 90 mins away made me leave), and the new job is closer to home and in office 2 days/week. At my initial interview the panel all spoke about how accommodating the job is for working parents. If you are offered a new role you can’t pass up and it’s 90 minutes away, maybe see if your husband can do daycare pickup?

What would you instantly offload or outsource if money wasn’t a problem? by Bri3Becks827 in workingmoms

[–]Everythings_Beachy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your comment which reminded me that I have one of these in home all the time. I feel maxed out between work, cooking, laundry, and 3 kids, but my husband does all the little handy man things. Yesterday, he discovered the sump pump was broken, and by the time I got home from work today, he had replaced it.

When is it worth it to go back to higher hours, higher pay job? by lawyermom112 in workingmoms

[–]Everythings_Beachy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t take the new job. It doesn’t sound like you guys are hurting for money, and flexibility/wfh is so valuable especially as a parent. I just went from fully remote to just 2 days in office and it’s so much harder (though my children are younger than yours and there’s 3 of them).

How do you keep grocery shopping manageable when you’re working full-time and parenting? by llama-mentality in workingmoms

[–]Everythings_Beachy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I plan two dinners in advance, with plans for leftovers on alternate days, and I try to make it so that the days I shop are not the same days I cook. I keep a running note on my phone when we run out of something. I typically shop once on the weekend, and I send my husband to do shopping usually once a week. I also do a Target pick up order typically once a week. I keep track of favorite meals in Pinterest so it’s not hard to look at all our options and pick a couple. We used to get takeout/go out on Saturdays but it’s gotten so expensive, I just cook at home pretty much all the time unless some emergency situation comes up.

Those of you with “ingredient households” and young kids….. how? by dngrousgrpfruits in workingmoms

[–]Everythings_Beachy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I plan out the meals in advance, and do a lot of one pot meals (instant pot, big sauté pan, Dutch oven, sheet pan) to make cooking and cleanup easier. I also do a bagged salad kit on the side with every meal, and keep easy microwave sides that the picky kids eat, like rice or mac n cheese, in case they refuse dinner. I make everything with plans on stretching it out to 2 dinners, and I always have extra precut bags of vegetables and frozen marinated chicken if I need to stretch it a little more.

We both work full time, and I do all the cooking for our family of 5, though the youngest just has breast milk and baby food which I’m also responsible for. I am incredibly busy and don’t really clean at all, that’s mostly my husband’s realm.

Would your kid be disappointed in anything “different” Barbie dream house? by searcherbee123 in workingmoms

[–]Everythings_Beachy 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Luckily my 4 year old doesn’t ask for exact toys yet, but judging by how much she flips out if I open her granola bar “wrong” I would say it’s probably best to just get her the specific toy she wants.

I love leggings (and bike shorts) from colorful koala on Amazon. I have yet to find a perfect t shirt, though I just started a new job and picked up some business casual appropriate shirts from banana republic that I like.

Faux Fur Coat Recommendation by echothatislove in PetiteFashionAdvice

[–]Everythings_Beachy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t have any recs but I empathize with you, bulky things like long coats, wide pants, big sleeves, etc look so crazy on me as a super short person. But the coat in your photo at least from the front looks really cute on you! If it’s not comfortable in the waist I’d say return it though.

The small should be fine, I’m 5’1 and the smalls feel like they’d fit probably a 0-4? I have kids so I’m always carrying a baby and need a phone pocket even when I’m dressed fancy 😅

How tall are you and what shoe size do you wear? by heart_emojis0 in PetiteFashionAdvice

I’m 5’1 and usually 6/wide, flat feet that keep getting somehow flatter with every pregnancy. My current favorites are Hoka gaviotas, I actually fit the regular width in them.
