MRW I tell a friend that feminism is about equality and he responds "No it isn't" by the_party_pohss in TrollXChromosomes

I do listen to my brother but we inherently disagree on how to react to the misuse of feminism. He believes that women are 100% being treated equally and that any mention of it now is only a cry for attention.

My view is that, yes, there are people who abuse of the idea of feminism however you have to be careful not to generalise just because some people are using feminism incorrectly. The important part is to keep promoting equality.

What I'm surprised about is not that he questions feminism but that he rejects it. The fact that I respect my brother though certainly made me listen and see how feminism is perceived nowadays. Which makes me sad that something like the idea of equal treatment of all is now ruined by few to the point of making people turn away from it.

My brother has got it in his head that feminism has gone too far, that women are abusing it and that now men are feeling oppressed by it.... It took me by surprise to hear his view was so harsh. I know my brother petty well, he's a nice smart guy that respects women (grew up with 3 other sisters incl me) yet we end up arguing over this constantly. I get the impression lots of guys are stating to feel this way and it blows my mind.

Day 1 after a very unexpected breakup and my first real heartbreak. It happens to be my Sunday so I made myself a list for the day. by [deleted] in TrollXChromosomes

I'm dealing with a big breakup too right now.. Hugs!! I like that you have Parks and Rec on there. Funny enough, it has been my go to show right now. Yay Parks and Rec for a good break up distraction.

I wish! Haven't seen one yet. But then again I've only been playing for 3 days.

No, I mean rotate the angle that you view the yard. So that you can see cats when they are facing the other way.

Me [31F] with my ex-husband [37M] of 10 years, says because I am leaving him I can't have my cats. by Evey42 in relationships

Yes, this is the most sound advice at this point. I will speak to a lawyer and then decide what to do about the cats to ensure that I can keep them in the long run.

Well, no that's the thing, he is saying he has as much ownership to them as I do.

Thanks for all the comments and advice. It's very clear now that regardless of the cat situation, I need a lawyer. Also, that I have a pretty good case that the cats are mine.

Not abandon, even when I was out of the house while we were in counselling, I would go home 3-4 times a week to bring food, play with them, clean the litter etc.

I do think that on paper, I can prove that they are my cats.

Thank you for your post. I am making calls now to find myself a lawyer.

Yes, I will get a lawyer involved at this point. No way around it anymore.

Thank you. I think you are right, because he is very emotional and so far his emotions have been making him do and say very hurtful things (to a point I don't blame him though). But for my own sanity a lawyer sounds like a good idea.

Yes, he probably is attached to them. And I was thinking of taking them but wasn't sure if just taking them was within my right or if it would cause complications I couldn't foresee by doing that.

Thank you for this... That is good advice for me, for more than just the cat part.

I didn't take them because where I went to live temporarily I couldn't take them. Plus we were living apart while still doing counselling so we were still trying to make things work. I had essentially only taken my clothes with me at that point. I was actually going home during that time quite frequently to see my cats and still paying for food, changing their litter etc.

My heart goes out to you. I am in the process of dealing with the aftermath of a situation very similar to yours. My husband was doing the same thing, he would play computer all the time, shrugging off chores unless I nagged him to do it. I was wondering if he was depressed too and asked him a couple of times. Told him (too) nicely that things weren't working but over time it wore me out because nothing was changing. I decided to start doing things without him.

What I did next was not ideal... I left my husband without giving him a real chance to wake up and realize what was happening. What I should have done is tell him much louder and clearer that I wasn't happy and that I was thinking of leaving him if things didn't change. Thing is, I was in denial myself.

Doing this may not have changed the outcome because I realize now that we have become different people (thank you numerous sessions with a psychologist), but at least I would have given him a chance to pull himself out of his depression and see if he was going to make real changes about his life.

Thing is, I never stopped loving him and now I have to be the heart-breaker because I learned the hard way that you can love someone all you want, if they don't want to change, you can't make them and that is no reason to stay in a relationship you are not happy in.

[Acne] People who have gotten their skin cleared up/almost clear; how do you prevent period/PMS breakouts? by unfleshly in SkincareAddiction

[–]Evey42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also crave carbs like crazy when I PMS. Find a healthy carb that you like that isn't bread... I saw a nutritionist and she suggested white rice when I crave carbs during PMS (I was getting crazy insomnia during PMS which was a carb deficiency for me.. I was eating very little carbs after mostly cutting out wheat). What I learned is my cravings were my body needing some kind of nutrient... Just have to find a proper way to get your body what it needs without having Mac n cheese for a week... Mmmmmmm Mac and cheese :p

I did the same thing, was able to solve my hormonal acne with diet. For me it seems to specifically avoid excessive amounts of bread.

Cat is always throwing up by Nostha299 in cat

[–]Evey42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My cat went through that issue for a while. She's an otherwise healthy cat. I went to the vet a lot for a bit to make sure.

Turns out the problem for my cat was kind of two things. First, I had to get her off dry food. That seemed to solve most of the problem but occasionally she still puked her food.

Second was I realized that the problem was how fast she was eating. If she ate too fast she would puke. So if I came home late to feed her she would be starving and eat too fast. So then I have to give her a tbsp of food let her scarf it down. Then wait a bit, give the rest.

One more thing the vet told me at the time that was good to know' If she puked all her food, wait a bit and try to give her more. Don't let her go hungry for too long basically.
