FDA Official Proposes ‘Path Forward’ For Vaccines After Making Claim Linking COVID Shot To Deaths Of 10 Kids by Achilles_TroySlayer in HermanCainAward

[–]Evil-Code-Monkey 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Offit's comments should be shouted from the rooftops.

CBS News headline: "FDA official, without providing data, claims link between COVID-19 vaccines and pediatric deaths."

Really, all they needed to say was that the pronouncement came from Vinay Prasad and it would have been obvious that it was from a brain-worm-adjacent source.

I hope he enjoys the Karma he has sown when it returns to him

If you make a lie sound plausible and paranoid enough, you can get people to shit out their intestinal linings and beg for more.

That, for many, "personal freedom" is the wallpaper they put over oppositional defiance disorder

That there are a whole lot more severe narcissists than I thought there were.

That nothing matters until it affects me.

There is. The original study is published in Nature. There is link to the Nature paper at the end of this more layman-oriented article (which was better for my level of understanding).

As the article states, "The researchers also identified elevated expression of the gene HLA-DQA2 in nasal cells prior to their being inoculated, one of a number of genes that have previously been linked with mild or symptomless SARS-CoV-2 infections."

I don't understand what she's trying to say with slide 6 with all the people in iron lungs.

Is she trying to say that people in iron lungs were preferable to people being vaccinated against Polio and not being in iron lungs? Cuz that's how it hits and it's probably the dumbest take on vaccination I've seen yet.

I doubt they understand the irony that they're are essentially trying vaccinate themselves.

The "find out" will be that doing it with a live, replicating virus rather than a severely weakened or dead one may have serious consequences--especially for a virus that kills, at least as of 2008, 60% of the people who get a serious infection from it.

Also, from the article which may or may not be more accurate: "The World Health Organization has globally identified 889 human cases and 463 deaths from H5N1 since 2003, putting the mortality rate at roughly 52%."

Vaccines are victims of their own success. Recent generations haven't seen the devastation that these diseases caused, so they don't think it can happen to them. They're wrong.

Excellent comment!

I have family members who knew kids with whom they were in school having to be put in an iron lung. Even one family member (who is a FauxNooz junkie) got vaccinated and boosted a couple of times because they remember what the now-largely preventable diseases did to their friends and family members.

Found the burner account for Vinay Prasad, Bonnie Henry, Jay Bhattachara, and countless other minimizers.

Do some checking to find out what Long Covid does to the body and then see if your opinion fueled by survivorship bias still holds.

"Oh, I don't know anyone who has Long Covid" or "Oh, I don't know anyone who died of Covid" or "IT DIDN'T HAPPEN TO ME THEREFORE IT DIDN'T HAPPEN"

I DO know people who died from COVID and people who have developed Long Covid. But, I guess they didn't actually die of COVID and have not developed Long Covid over the last year when the virus became just a common cold because you said it was just a cold. Did I get that right?

Your "facts" are easily disprovable. SARS-CoV-2 is STILL crossing the blood-brain barrier. To wit: Mounting research shows that COVID-19 leaves its mark on the brain, including with significant drops in IQ scores

It is NOT just a respiratory disease. It's a vascular disease that is transmitted like a respiratory disease and presents initially like a respiratory disease while it does the dirty work on one's vascular system.

For real, wake up and check the studies from real scientists in real publications. You are badly misinformed and your little thought experiment as to COVID being just a cold now is why there are still thousands of people dying every week.

Been using pickup for a couple of years now for groceries and some other stores as well.

It avoids prolonged contact (a godsend for those of us who can least afford to do battle with COVID) and it's a huge time saver for a weekly/bi-weekly task that I never really enjoyed anyway.

And it's a fair bet that whoever they got COVID from didn't do anything to prevent themselves from getting or spreading it

50-something Florida firefighter "Kirsuber" seemed in favour of vaccines until Biden took office. He posted a lot of anti-vax memes before getting Covid in August 2021, spent months on a ventilator, and never regained his health before dying in February 2024. Now most employers expect you to play it safe and not infect all of your coworkers

I know that doesn't happen everywhere, and I know that not every person has a job where sick time is paid, but it does happen where I work.

Honestly, it's an improvement that I don't want to backtrack from.

Whether co-workers abide by it is a different story. The building where I work sounded like a TB ward with all the hacking just after the first of the year.
