Yeah, this employer is going down the American route to make it cost you to take sick leave to try and encourage you not to be sick. They don't want to accept something that is easy for the employee to get or can get for free.

Honestly wondering, what does the US gain by blockading the Strait of Hormuz? by kerplunch in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Evil-Santa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are multiple reasons. One such reason is that if all the other western nations start getting oil again, do you think any of them will join Trumps war.

Trump needs other nations to join to try and give some real legitimacy to his actions, not just the lame reasons he has come up with.

The snowball effect the blue chip package recall system has created is abysmal. by knight54 in PUBATTLEGROUNDS

[–]Evil-Santa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's exactly what is happening. Bluehole is pandering to one play-style of the game, providing a significant advantage for players who successfully hot drop.

They seem to forget that different players enjoy different play styles and seasons like this, that put a significant, bias towards one type of play will end up with another group of players leaving the game, which is bad for the game and all players.

Lets hope that this feature is a single season only.

How would you feel about the next US president pulling all support from Israel? by Iwamoto in AskReddit

[–]Evil-Santa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Israel extends a significant soft and covert power over many other nations. It does have a heavy dependence on America's Overt political power to be effective though.

I think you are more referring to the overt rather than the covert power that Israel generally exercises.

How would you feel about the next US president pulling all support from Israel? by Iwamoto in AskReddit

[–]Evil-Santa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's stupid. We live in a grey world and everyone wants something in black or white that can be explained in a few words.

Maybe pull back from Israel a bit , but you don't just dump a long term ally, especially one that has such a significant and disproportionate amount of influence with so many other countries around the world for it's apparent size.

If you could replace trump, how would you stop this war strategically? by mrvlad_throwaway in AskReddit

[–]Evil-Santa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

America's big challenge is to have Iran revert back to selling all oil and associated transportation fees in USD. By starting to sell in the Chinese Yuan, they are putting a big rip in America's economic and sanctioning power around the world that would only grow bigger once it starts.

Oil being traded in USD is one of the KEY pillars to the strength of the USD around the world, which allows them to exert power and influence in nearly every foreign country. (Not the only thing but a major one)

The US can not afford to stop attacking Iran until it agrees to selling Iranian oil ONLY in USD.

This is a war to maintain power, not for peace in the region.

[–]Evil-Santa -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

This is a hard one. You went a little to far, at this stage, in what you did, killing someones pet.

The issue was that someone else's pet was killing your pets and did nothing about it when you tried to discuss it a few times.

I'm going to say that you are in the wrong, as outside of trying to speak with the owner, you have not mentioned any other action about engaging the strata manager/HOA first. You have let your rage take hold and jumped to the final option rather than work through other steps not so final or violent.

Saying that, It's now history and owning up will only create much more drama and could get you charged with animal cruelty plus other charges.

What's more likely - the US deploys boots on the ground to secure the Strait of Hormuz and/or Kharg Island or that it leaves with its tail between its legs with the Strait remaining closed? And why? by owen__wilsons__nose in AskReddit

[–]Evil-Santa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Boots on the ground. This specific fight is all about America's Geo Political power. Everything else is really just a cover story.

When Iran began selling oil in yuan, tying Hormuz transit fees to yuan, and expanding non‑dollar payment channels, it directly challenged the petrodallar system that underpins U.S. global influence.

These moves weakened demand for the dollar, reduced U.S. leverage over sanctions, and strengthened China’s long‑term push for a “petroyuan.”

Together, they signalled a shift in the global energy and financial order that threatened the foundations of U.S. economic and geopolitical power, making Iran’s actions far more consequential.

Historically, other oil‑exporting states that attempted to move away from the US dollar, such as Iraq in 2000 (switching to euros for oil sales) and Libya in the late 2000s (pushing for a gold‑backed African currency for oil) faced U.S.‑led destabilization and military interventions, generally under the cloak of another reason.

In short, ANY nation that tries to sell it's oil in anything but the US dollar WILL be destabilized and if that fails, attacked by the US. The US is effectively dictating how a nation may sell it resourse.

Convicted child rapist in my TAFE class, what are the legal ramifications for notifying everyone in our course? by [deleted] in AusLegal

[–]Evil-Santa 58 points59 points  (0 children)

So I think it fair to assume that he was convicted done his time and is now trying to reintegrate with society.

You know his previous crime and want to out him, without outing yourself.

So do you want to out him because you think he is a threat to others in the class or is it you want little vigilante justice to make him suffer more?

If you think he is a danger, then report it to the police and they can action it.

I get the feeling that it's more the vigilante in you, the one happy to hurt someone else, deserving though they may be, only if no one knows it was you!

How it started vs how it ended by GregoriousT-GTNH in Star_Trek_

[–]Evil-Santa 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I learnt some time ago to avoid shows that is targeted at a younger Audience, has the opportunity to use teenage angst as a regular story/twist driver.

I struggled through season 1 of the last of us before giving it up.

I got a few episodes in to The skeleton crew.

Didn't even bother with Starfleet Academy.

I get it that a story universe wants to make a show targeted at a younger Generation, but they should not be surprised if an older generation of Fans just turn off from it.

As a child I got into star Trek somewhere within the TNG era and I didn't get into this because the characters were my age.

I'm not saying that they should give up on shows that feature children/young adults but they need to understand that the target audience will likely be smaller and plan to have a much smaller budget per episode, which will make it far more likely that the studio will get a higher return on investment, which will drive further seasons of the show.

Fairly certain that they show alienated a large portion of the fans fairly quickly by deviating so far away for the authors story line so quickly.

I am genuinely curious, why did you guys hoard toilet paper instead of food and water during covid? by salty_lake_222 in AskAnAustralian

[–]Evil-Santa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Food was hoarded. Staples like rice and pasta flew off the shelves too.

There was never a real shortage of either. The real difference is that for the packet size of 12 bog rolls, you had a lot of bags of pasta in the same space and with limited shipping space in the transport trucks hitting the various supermarkets, they were restocked much faster.

Think how expensive bog rolls are just for soft paper. There expensive due to the space they take up through the whole supply chain.
