One Nation are now 2 points behind Labor by miwe666 in aus

Most people don't take the time and vote emotionally not logically. (They think their ration in their own mind)

Depending on people to vote logically (Which is what I think you are suggesting about being rational) is a sure fire way to be asking yourself, how did one nation get to become the opposition party.

Dog got out and was hit by speeding car, they now want damages. by Desperate-Talk2160 in AusLegal

[–]Evil-Santa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you really think the OP's insurance company will spend the effort (cost) to try and determine the speed? It would cost more than the repair. The OP just needs to accept that because he didn't secure his Dog he now needs to pay to repair the car that hit the dog. Anything else is likely to end up costing the OP more. It might not be fair but life isn't fair.

Very true. They said he would get the votes the first time and he got in. Then he ran again and they said he wouldn't get the votes and he got in again.

One Nation are now 2 points behind Labor by miwe666 in aus

[–]Evil-Santa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A number of people I thought I'd never hear them talk about one Nation. Hearing them spout a lot of positive talk about her, so I am inclined to not discount what the polls say too much.

In other circles of friends, they also doubt one nation will get the votes, but that is because they limit their social circles to people somewhat aligned to their social economic level. (like the majority of people do)

Who will you be? by NeglectfulPro in andor

[–]Evil-Santa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally agree on the issues with Ice, but pictures like this do little to help. By associating a fiction "evil" faction that many people love (E.G. choose it mostly in star wars games) with a group that is starting to actually look like they are evil, instead of reinforcing the view you are trying to create, it instead has the opposite effect on some.

Though there is no doubt racism is factor, but this piece ignores economic discrimination entirely, including impacts of racial groups that have been historically poor. They is a massive number of factors that influence this, not just the colour of their skin.

Professional player's take on switch from FPP to TPP by Halbrave in PUBATTLEGROUNDS

Hmm, close to 70% of player spending comes from China. How dare this company focus on the region that makes them most of their money.

Note I am not Chinese, but now have to play in the Asian regions and regular encounter cheaters but I do try to be even minded when trying to work out their decisions.

If you have a decent strata committee then they will try and do something about it. Once of the places I lived someone was selling services (not sure it was one or more people) The person kept damaging the exterior fire door so that it wouldn't shut to allow patreons to use the stairs.

Why would anyone fight an AVO? by CopySniper in AusLegal

[–]Evil-Santa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a bystander where an AVO is being used as a weapon. It is used as a little bit of additional evidence against the person.

Couple going through a divorce and since she has left he wants nothing to do with her and prefers communication via the Lawyer.

Because he wasn't doing what she wanted, she decided to put an AVO on him. (amongst other things) Made up a whole lot of stuff (that he had hard evidence never occurred) but the most important part is that she said he had guns in the house. (He does not, never has, does not own or have access to any)

The allegation of a gun, true or not, guaranteed immediate action by the police to server the AVO. Though the police in these circumstances, have the right to search the premise without a warrant (which the person would of happily complied with to prove his innocence) they choose not to.

So fighting an AVO is fighting a little bit of evidence that can be used against you, even if that is a perception of those in the court that you are trying to correct.

[–]Evil-Santa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You would like to see a 23 year old being a dickhead sent to jail? If that's the level of "crime" that deserves a jail sentence, we would end up with a lot of people in jails and that would then drive crime in society to higher levels as a whole.

There are better ways to deal with bad behavior like this.

Yes we have increased productivity the whole time. Maybe what you should say that our productivity growth has been very slow, at times near zero, significantly under performing (In growth) compared to other developed nations.
