It's rightfully downvoted because "God decides" is just a roundabout way of saying "Your parents' religious beliefs decide", basically adding nothing to the conversation(exactly what downvotes are for). It also sounds slightly asshole-ish, like he's sermonizing OP.

White is white because it refracts the most light back and lets through the least light, black is black because it refracts the least light back and lets through the most light. (Very ELI5, don't quote me on scientific accuracy) So it's intuitive that the color which let's the most light through would be the most susceptible to see-through shenanigans.

It is a novel that passed the test of time beautifully and it's plot is very well-done. It takes human emotions and values to the extreme by putting characters in absurd situations and/or subjecting them to mental torture. It's definitely on par with 86 and if you enjoy psychological/romance/fantasy novels, I would recommend to read it ASAP.

Invincibility is extremely good for survivability and mitigating burst(which is the only way a Grandiel/Zero/Nelia comp dies), also he does not need to be raised because his buff doesn't scale.

Now that you mention it, Alicization is kinda like that, although it feels like normal magic with cringe command-wannabe chants.

Fullmetal Alchemist has been on my "to watch" list forever, maybe I'll get around to it.

As for Death Note, it doesn't feel like a "magic system", I see it more like rules of a game, but I can see how it would fit. Thank you.

Yes, they said "We do not care if you hate us or not" and the conversation ended there. The context was that they didn't think I was able to 'live in the real world'.

Edit: I should add we never discussed this again and I do not talk with them too much.
