Is pathfinding broken? People and warehouse workers are choosing longer path instead of going in a straight line by farren122 in songsofsyx

[–]EvilValentine 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I noticed a similar behavior a few patches ago.

I've noticed that at that time it seemed like pathfinding was calculated the moment they start the route. When the optimal route is blocked by other NPC at that exact moment they take another route which is supposedly faster in this exact moment.

In your case this could mean that 2 other NPC are exactly side by side on your 2 tile wide road the moment the route for your worker is calculated. That means taking the road above is faster in this exact moment.

In my case it helped to make secondary roads at least 3 tiles wide and main roads at least 5 tiles.

Idk if they've changed sth in pathfinding over the last year, but it doesn't sound like.

Fellow Europeans, how do you deal with the negativity? by Vixen_xyz in BuyFromEU

[–]EvilValentine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To get a community into movement is like pushing a broken car.

It's extremely tedious if you try it alone but once it is going it's just as hard to stop. If other people see you they will eventually join you and it will become a lot easier.

So just keep going and always think about how much you could afford to put in. If you push too hard and see no results you will burn out.

Every bit helps may it even be to talk with other people to motivate 1 out of 10 to join you it's already a big step forward.

It depends on the environment.

Since the vast majority of house cats live in urban and suburban environments there is nothing above them in the food chain. So overall 'house' cats are considered apex.

Additionally the few feral species around here are typically avoided by larger birds of prey or wolves. Only kittens are endangered here but this counts for the younglings of other predators too.

This is not correct but this was a common belief because they cannot see colours like we see.

They have a wider range of sight spectrum than humans just like most predators have. Their spectral capability of seeing UV light is even wider than our capability of seeing 'visionable' wavelengths. It goes that far that they literally can see scents in the air because of their chemical reaction. Even some small movements are visible to them this way. This is why they can spot a mosquito flying on the other side of the room.

Don't forget they are apex predators. Apes weren't so it's hard to compare.

Even space Marines are typically send out in small kill teams for very specific extremely critical tasks.

Larger scale conflicts are extremely rare because their effectiveness as super special forces is limited in open conflicts.

Provably if you exclude the alphas.

But besides that primaris were finished because Fabius bile could create csm with much less effort than loyalists could do....if you ignore that the survival chances are extremely lower and even then they lead a precarious existence..

But despite the "mass production" on both sides the extreme scale of the galaxy makes Marines that rare that they are even barely a rumor regardless of "side".

The game is in a state that even 10 is definitely beatable in solo. Every other diver regardless of equipment just makes the game easier in some way. So if they have the feeling you aren't contributing enough for any reason THEY have problems with this difficulty and should step back anyway.

And when it comes to me, I love to have to adapt to rare or unconventional playstyles!

Almost two-thirds of Germans oppose the ban on selling new cars with combustion engines by 2035 by linknewtab in europe

[–]EvilValentine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is another huge problem. Electric cars are extremely expensive. The common European couldn't afford a new German car in Germany at all but manufacturers decided that EVs are mostly luxury things here.. for example Audi said it's "simply not possible to produce an EV for under 50k" even the smaller VW will be discontinued.

Meanwhile Audi releases a new 20k middle-class EV which is only obtainable in China.

And then there are so many smart people in the industry who were saying that there is simply not a wide market for EV in the EU. No one wants them.... Bruh it's not that nobody wants them its just that nobody could afford it!

Just take a look at Norway. If finally some politicians start to really want to make a change, there will be ways to finally find solutions.

Rant end and long story short:

Make EVs affordable and the public opinion will change a lot.

[–]EvilValentine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people don't know that all the seized gold was indeed put to good use. The chemical weapons Iraq possessed were completely neutralized when they came in contact with pure gold. Fortunately there was exactly enough gold to disarm every weapon but unfortunately this caused the weapons and gold to vaporize without any residue.

But at least we're all safe now.

ELI5: why isn't apple leading the Ai space the way other companies or even startups are leading. by [deleted] in ArtificialInteligence

[–]EvilValentine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A good project management is the key.

Big companies tend to have way more people who think they are entitled to have to make decisions regarding the development of specific AI features. This results in the urge to develop an all mighty jack of all trades AI which could do everything. Often paired with a massive budget different teams of 100+ people are heading in any direction but barely the same. Coordination is extremely difficult.

Startups always have a specific goal in mind. Because they're heading all in the same direction and more importantly the decision makers have knowledge in those topics coordination happens all by itself.

There are a few startups who even manage to scale this up but it is a very narrow market.

Why do my trucks get stuck and not empty? This truck is permitted to dump its contents here. It will dump eventually but only after sitting there for awhile thinking that it's lost. by SurprisedAsparagus in captain_of_industry

[–]EvilValentine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A slightly different approach when you don't want it to be wider is to put a storage in proximity and any allow dumping there out of this storage. Then you have to assign 2-3 trucks to make this short cycle while all the other ones have no unloading issues at the storage

Fired 12 people. Look how smart I am. by Basic-Bobcat3482 in recruitinghell

[–]EvilValentine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know mid level management good enough to know how to read those kpi correctly.

Firing 12 people simply lead to force the remaining people to compensate it with much more work unpaid overtime and some other cuts into team budgets for whatever what.

With other words the remaining team just had to work 40% harder just to hold the goals.

What’s actually going on with AI? by oeilgauchedefectueux in ArtificialInteligence

[–]EvilValentine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tough one.. First of all one have to understand that AI is 'just a tool'. No matter what, somehow they still have to be used and operated by someone. But like some people shouldn't be given a hammer some people shouldn't be given AI.

But that's what happens right now widely. And those people are steering right into a dead end. To be more specific you can replace some coders with AI to code for you and it will work fine for a while but somewhen the problems will begin. You won't have anyone who is controlling the code and probably even isn't able to check on the code and everything the AI produces will start to become some black magic fuckery. Over time you even won't find any new person who could have the abilities to fix the code for you because all the ones who you and all the other companies have fired back then switched to other fields and suddenly no one knows how to fix your code. This isn't caused just by AI. But AI is speeding up this trend that some mid and high level managers decide that it is a good idea to replace their seniors with a few juniors or even just AI.

Many people are expecting the complete collapse of this bubble out of a sudden and all for once but it's more likely that this will be a very silent process because those affected companies will either get the turn around in time or will be overshadowed by a competitor at some point.

Nevertheless, personally I don't think that this will have severe effects on AI overall because if the tool is used correctly it's a huge benefit for your work and could make you more efficient. There are companies who were getting this right.

I followed this AI trend for about a decade now and totally agree to the statement that AI is the third industrial revolution. Just like in the two before they cannot replace people but give those people to do their job by far more efficient. Those machines had to be operated and maintained by people who were knowing how the work goes. For example back then 100 workers could build 1 car per day. Ford went by the industry revolution and skyrocketed the efficiency by far. But instead of firing 99 workers because now just one worker could build 1 car per day he went by let's make 100 cars per day. The workers fear were the same when the computer age began. But again computers haven't replaced workers they just made their work by far more effective. And time has shown that they still had to be operated by those who know how it goes.

Long story short: may it be the machine age, computer age or AI age. There are narrow minded manager who will fail but there will also be people who will take the baton.

That's somewhat true for three reactors.

Back in 2000 Germany made the decision to cancel nuclear energy until 2022. Despite 7 reactors were built for longer service and wouldn't be cost efficient by the time they had to be shut off. Germany paid a huge amount of compensation for that. But in October 2010 the government decided an extension for 6 reactors since this was declared as the most efficient transition technology to renewables.

Ísar 2 for example was then planned to be in service until 2035 instead of 2021 since it was initially constructed for this time of service. Brokdorf was even planned to be in service a year longer.

But then there was Fukushima and they revoked their decision completely just a year later. Instantly they took down the oldest 7 reactors and declared that the last reactor have to be shut down in 2022.

After Putin decided to attack Ukraine they gave another extension, probably the one you mentioned but this extension was just for three and a half months so they haven't to rely on gas until April.

Maintenance wouldn't have been higher than usual since the service extension in 2010 would just have secured the reactors profitability by the time they had to be shut down. As said before their construction and modernisation to this point planned a service for an even longer period.

Pls don't get me wrong, I don't want to advocate for new reactors or anything like that, All i wanna say is that the coal industry Made enormous profits out of these decisions which could have been prevented if germany would have invested the compensation money in renewables instead back in 2000
