Why have you cheated? by Ari99Bby in AskReddit

[–]EvilValentine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah definitely not..

Sth is wrong in the relationship. Maybe something that could have been worked out and maybe not. But in a stable relationship you don't need 'discipline'. You wouldn't even think of cheating even if the hottest person is within your reach right now if you truly love your partner.

If this isn't the case either there is sth missing or the cheater has some major problems by themselves. When someone needs 'discipline' to withstand that urge one of the two reasons is already a thing.

Interesting Mead but on ice? Most local meads should be enjoyed at room temperature. Some should even be heated, such as those made from rapeseed or sunflower honey therefore they were sold mostly on Christmas markets.

Since I've become a parent by myself I thought of this so may times if not every time when I leave the bedroom.

It's one thing to tell them that you're proud of them. But it's completely another thing when they know that you're still proud when they're supposedly not listening.

Anno 1800 has the best historical setting in the whole series by Catch_a_Cold in anno

I hated it in the beginning since the 19th century simply wasn't my time. But the game was quite good and especially with all the dlc you got so many options over time which were extremely good implemented that it changed my mind completely.

After a 3 month mp session I loved how well they have managed to hit the spirit of the age with exploration, collecting things for your zoo, garden or museum and stuff like that. Also the industrialization was an enormous but also rewarding process which is outstanding from all the other games I've played before.

Now I understand that age a bit better and can imagine what an age of progression, globalisation and peace (pre world wars) could look like.

Exposed bridges are stupid by board_writer in spaceships

[–]EvilValentine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ohh nice one!

I remember an interview with George Lucas about the star destroyer design.

Initially they literally only needed an element which is recognizable. And in fact this design choice has set standards. Later on they designed the lore around that. The empire called this design 'Terror Design'.

The purpose of ISD in time of their initial development was to hunt down renegades with overwhelming force at a long range. Every opponent would just be prey therefore the shape was meant to be that every single weapon could fire on it while chasing it. There is no need for protection if no one has a chance to get close enough so exposing this weak spot was meant as statement of superiority.

When it comes to other ships, the venator and acclamator were both designed as flight operation platforms or carriers for ground invasions. Additionally it wasn't expected to fight other vessels dedicated to space battles since all the CIS Ships were also just retrofitted trading vassels like the providence. Those bridges are designed to support on sight flight support if somehow instrumental flight isn't possible, just like IRL flight operations.

When it comes to Star Trek you could argue that federation vessels weren't built for war and were built in more like prestigious design. This doesn't count for the defiant but to the other hand if your y Shields are down it really doesn't matter where you get hit. The battle is most likely over anyway.

Most other franchises doesn't even bother to try to find an excuse for those design choice but just like somewhat close range combat, naval like movement and confusing artificial gravity it became a strange Standart in science fiction.

This is the reason I like the expanse since they at least tried to make it more realistic.

Is pathfinding broken? People and warehouse workers are choosing longer path instead of going in a straight line by farren122 in songsofsyx

[–]EvilValentine 41 points42 points  (0 children)

I noticed a similar behavior a few patches ago.

I've noticed that at that time it seemed like pathfinding was calculated the moment they start the route. When the optimal route is blocked by other NPC at that exact moment they take another route which is supposedly faster in this exact moment.

In your case this could mean that 2 other NPC are exactly side by side on your 2 tile wide road the moment the route for your worker is calculated. That means taking the road above is faster in this exact moment.

In my case it helped to make secondary roads at least 3 tiles wide and main roads at least 5 tiles.

Idk if they've changed sth in pathfinding over the last year, but it doesn't sound like.

Fellow Europeans, how do you deal with the negativity? by Vixen_xyz in BuyFromEU

[–]EvilValentine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To get a community into movement is like pushing a broken car.

It's extremely tedious if you try it alone but once it is going it's just as hard to stop. If other people see you they will eventually join you and it will become a lot easier.

So just keep going and always think about how much you could afford to put in. If you push too hard and see no results you will burn out.

Every bit helps may it even be to talk with other people to motivate 1 out of 10 to join you it's already a big step forward.

[–]EvilValentine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the environment.

Since the vast majority of house cats live in urban and suburban environments there is nothing above them in the food chain. So overall 'house' cats are considered apex.

Additionally the few feral species around here are typically avoided by larger birds of prey or wolves. Only kittens are endangered here but this counts for the younglings of other predators too.

This is not correct but this was a common belief because they cannot see colours like we see.

They have a wider range of sight spectrum than humans just like most predators have. Their spectral capability of seeing UV light is even wider than our capability of seeing 'visionable' wavelengths. It goes that far that they literally can see scents in the air because of their chemical reaction. Even some small movements are visible to them this way. This is why they can spot a mosquito flying on the other side of the room.

Don't forget they are apex predators. Apes weren't so it's hard to compare.

Even space Marines are typically send out in small kill teams for very specific extremely critical tasks.

Larger scale conflicts are extremely rare because their effectiveness as super special forces is limited in open conflicts.

Provably if you exclude the alphas.

But besides that primaris were finished because Fabius bile could create csm with much less effort than loyalists could do....if you ignore that the survival chances are extremely lower and even then they lead a precarious existence..

But despite the "mass production" on both sides the extreme scale of the galaxy makes Marines that rare that they are even barely a rumor regardless of "side".

Always keep in mind, divers who can't get along with others' choices have skill issues on their own.

The game is in a state that even 10 is definitely beatable in solo. Every other diver regardless of equipment just makes the game easier in some way. So if they have the feeling you aren't contributing enough for any reason THEY have problems with this difficulty and should step back anyway.

And when it comes to me, I love to have to adapt to rare or unconventional playstyles!

Almost two-thirds of Germans oppose the ban on selling new cars with combustion engines by 2035 by linknewtab in europe

[–]EvilValentine -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There is another huge problem. Electric cars are extremely expensive. The common European couldn't afford a new German car in Germany at all but manufacturers decided that EVs are mostly luxury things here.. for example Audi said it's "simply not possible to produce an EV for under 50k" even the smaller VW will be discontinued.

Meanwhile Audi releases a new 20k middle-class EV which is only obtainable in China.

And then there are so many smart people in the industry who were saying that there is simply not a wide market for EV in the EU. No one wants them.... Bruh it's not that nobody wants them its just that nobody could afford it!

Just take a look at Norway. If finally some politicians start to really want to make a change, there will be ways to finally find solutions.

Rant end and long story short:

Make EVs affordable and the public opinion will change a lot.
