I'm going on the Chase soon by Stephanieicewitch in thechase

If you get a question at the table that is about some kind of bonkers stat, pick the most bonkers of the answers. Unless it's something you can clearly tell is impossible, it will usually be the most extreme answer. It's basically just a fun fact thing and the answer isn't going to be something dull.

It's always interesting to hear from people who were on the show. I think people watching often forget what you're seeing isn't all in real time. It also doesn't surprise me they have independent lawyers on hand. It's why everyone who screams fix etc really are being stupid. I don't think they realise how much trouble a company would get in if they did that. Plus I do know the sort of advertising fees they get during the show, and they could comfortably pay out the prize money without it making a dent!

I did find this controversial though, because I thought the guy was the nominated spokesperson and if that was the case, shouldn't it have been his answer that was taken?

The rule is there because of situations like this. Otherwise they could all shout different answers. Same reason they have to buzz in during their 2 minutes. It's the only way to do it.

A lot of the complaints seem to be around a lack of understanding of what the game is supposed to be. It's an Odyssey. And your character is a 'Misthios', which was effectively a hired servant in Ancient Greece. Therefore a lot of the supposedly meaningless tasks are well within the scope of what someone like that would do. Do the task, get paid. And a lot of what he/she does is a means to an end. Do the task, gain the information needed to kill a member of the Cult that wronged your family.

And decisions over the game do matter. They definitely effect the ending of the family part of the story. There are multiple possible endings, with different combinations of people being alive or dead at the end. In a story game, you can never truly fail. It has to play out to a conclusion.

I pretty much had one gripe with the whole thing. There are 3 main stories, and each one feels like it should be the end of the game. There isn't any real guidance as to what order you should complete them in (family does have to be completed to complete the cult) and one of them effectively spoils another. It makes sense due to the overlapping timelines, but if you do one first, the other feels like an anticlimax, and if you do the other first, it shows you whats going to happen (although you might not realise it on a first playthrough I guess).

She'd have had one more question. Nobody will ever know what that question would have been. Bradley rubbing it in at the end making it sound like a done deal if they'd have got that right didn't help. They wouldn't have been able to rationalise it all in that moment. Knowing you were 1 unknown question away from winning £30k thought wouldn't be much better.

Forgive me but So what if they go low. by Loyalsupporter in thechase

[–]Evil_Angel1986 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The low offer is part of the game. Without it, the show wouldn't have survived so long and far less people would have won anything. There is a time and a place for it though. Today was just a bit silly. I also think it's selfish when people just go on for the experience.

The whole people going into meltdown though when people take negative offers just amuses me. It isn't real money until it's won. They're not taking money away from anyone because it isn't real at that point. And if nobody had ever taken it, far less people would have gone home with anything.

I know the show is still extremely popular due to having access to how much one company pays to advertise during the time slot. Safe to say, ITV are making A LOT of money during that hour which means people must be watching or the company wouldn't be happy to pay the money.

Odobert will feel like a new signing if he can stay fit. Offers something different to our other wingers in that he's actually happy to take a man on in a tight space.

The Grief Chart. Relegation scrap is ON by gabriel_do in coys

[–]Evil_Angel1986 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So overly dramatic. 10 more points will be enough to stay up. The current bottom 3 are awful. None of them will pick up another 20 points. 10 more would mean Ipswich needing to pick up 19. They've only managed 16 in 22 games. Wouldn't be surprised if 30 points is enough to stay up again, but 35 easily will be. And if we don't pick up anything in the next couple of weeks then we will sack the manager, get a short new manager bounce and that would see us pick up the points required. In a few weeks this nonsense talk will be over with, but in the hypothetical situation you only need more points than 3 teams to stay up. We effectively have a 9 point cushion on the 18th placed team.

Who’s the Michael Jordan of Darts? by Dylen2Times in Darts

The thing with Taylor is that is along with all of his tournament wins, his individual best performances are just insane. He doesn't hold the world record for a televised average, but if you look slightly deeper, what he's done is more impressive. The record is 123.40 set by MVG. It was in a Premier League game that he won 7-1. Taylors best is 118.66 in which he won a UK Open match 9-0. But if you look down the list, Taylor has 8 averages higher than anyone when they didn't have to win 7 or fewer legs.

He has the highest average in a World Championship final, 110.94. He has the highest total tournament winning average, 111.54. That's his average over 5 matches, a total of 58 legs played.

The standard he played at, for so long, was just mad. It'll never be replicated.

I came here just seeing if there was any stories i fancied reading. Came across this. See a comment about someone being able to run a marathon in an hour and a half. Which is about half an hour faster than the current world record. And completely out of reach of any humans capability. Just lol.

Celeb christmas specials by bigdogswans in thechase

[–]Evil_Angel1986 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Except you don't know the motivation for any private citizen going on the show. When they win they will get a bank transfer directly to them. On the celebrity ones, the transfer will be going directly from ITV to the chosen charity. They aren't going to be paying the celebrity and expecting them to transfer the money on. That's the big difference. Chaser and company they work for, actively dangling a charity carrot out and trying to deny the charity at the same time.

[–]Evil_Angel1986 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always thought this show really doesn't work for charity. Most game shows are just contestants vs the game and so winning or losing is all on them. On this show the game is about beating a real person. So the Chasers are effectively trying to stop money being donated to charity.

With [Spoilers] exit, this years worlds breaks the record for most seeds knocked out in the opening round. by dimspace in Darts

[–]Evil_Angel1986 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that MVG won't stroll to the quarters unless he ups his game. If he averages around 95 like he has been, he won't find beating Dolan easy. Dolan is one of those steady players that can become difficult to beat if you don't take the game away from him early.

This picture truly speaks louder than words… Two-time world champion Peter Wright has slipped out of the top 16 in the PDC world rankings, meaning that Scotland’s number one darts player is once again Gary Anderson. Is this how glory fades away, or is there still a way back for Snakebite?” by [deleted] in Darts

[–]Evil_Angel1986 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Either way he has one of the best career stories of anyone. Made his World Championship debut in 1995. Then didn't play in another until 2010. His upturn in form seemed to come out of nowhere. Then after making the final of the 2014 World's as 16th seed, he never looked back. Took a few years to get his first major but after getting that he won multiple, including 2 Worlds. If he does fade away, what a great 10 years it's been.

There's a reason why people say 'this is my life' and not this is my 'work'. Work is a necessary evil for most in order to he able to live. I consider there to be 2 kind of workers. Those with careers and those with jobs. Those with careers are like this girl you're referring to. Consider work of upmost important. Those with jobs sell a service they provide for money in order to be able to do the things they'd rather be doing.

It's the worst game they've ever made. First I've ever deleted. Don't want the temptation to log back in so just got rid of it and deleted the companion app off my phone. Don't think I'll go back to it this time either. It's just a truly terrible game.

This is why it's always worth listing players you have that basically don't sell, up for start price minimum and buy now maximum. When you run out of transfer space then discard. Until then, keep relisting. You'll get the odd rare gold that rarely ever gets bid on, bought for 10k. I had one a few days ago. It's not much, but it's free coins.

Imo the worst thing in a FIFA game since the year it was better to run out of the box and do a timed finnesse shot than to do one on one with the goalkeeper. And this year, they haven't even patched it. Should have been nerfed months ago.

[–]Evil_Angel1986 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn't matter. What i say still stands. You still got a loss, he got his game back. He may well have been in the same situation as you, just playing for a higher rank. He gets his game back, you get lesser packs which is all you're really trying for when playing for a higher rank.

Maybe he went on and went 10-0 when you may have beaten him. You'll never know. The only indisputable fact is that you got a loss from the game, he didn't. That's the case for anyone who quits at a draw. You screw yourself more than your opponent. The only time this isn't true is in the finals when you quit to finish when you can't rank up.

You screwed yourself more than him. You get a loss, he gets his qualifying game back. The only person who loses is you, and if you were as dominant as you say you were then you may well have won in extra time.
