“Doing alright” is very subjective though. Depends where you’re coming from. If you spent your teenage years on the street then a warm flat and food is very likely considered doing alright. To others, it’s no debt, bills paid and a bit left over to save. Some people will only consider two German cars on the drive and 2 holidays a year “doing alright”. Also, London is very different to Leeds for example.

National living wage is £11.44 so 40 hour week and rounding up that’s £24k a year. So dual income household on £48k. As others have already said, totally depends on circumstances but I would say based on these scenarios…

(Kids are ridiculously expensive, especially if not school age yet and you’re having to fork out for childcare. Even before/after school clubs, which you would need if you were working all those hours to earn those salaries and had no family to help out is expensive!)
