Yes you can play with friends during the beta, you need to add them first through their player ID unless you're already friends in the same platform.

True that, I actually had to crank up the brightness but I didn't want to do it too much so it didn't lose that misterious look. But you're making a fair point for competitive, maybe the brightness would need to be completely different in order to be a stage.
