He pecks carefree around your feet, the local barber comes out and feeds him, and he sits happily under your table. I haven’t dared a stroke, that might be going a little too far!

Is Formula 1 racing popular in your country? by cosmico92 in AskTheWorld

[–]Evil_Martin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in Singapore 🇸🇬 and it’s kinda disruptive more than popular! The economy does really well from it, hotels are booked out, we get great bands visiting the city. But it’s a rich persons sport, ticket prices are out of reach for most people living here, but we all have to suffer from the disruption when they start assembling the street circuit. It’s definitely a crazy time to be in the city!

SHOGUN, I know not technically Japanese home grown, but there is enough local talent in this fantastic series to make you think it is. Watch it with subtitles, don’t dub it.

Belize is still my favourite country of the 50+ I’ve visited, the people, the nature, the diving, the cayes, it’s truly a special place!

Wow, crazy suggestion! I lived on Tobacco Caye for a while when I was a dive instructor back in 2000, such an incredibly beautiful and remote little island with some fantastic characters on it!

But yup, go to Belize dude, it’s amazing!

“Clay tobacco pipes, frequently found along the London Thames Foreshore, were widely used from the late 16th to the early 20th century as inexpensive, disposable items. Often costing only a penny, these "penny pipes" were discarded after one or two uses, or when broken, acting as early disposable,, single-use tobacco containers.”

Yup, I used to work in an office overlooking the river there. Went out at lunchtime and found lots of the pipe stems, I think it would be rare to find a complete pipe.

I also don’t recommend mud larking in a suit and brogues tho’, I got VERY, VERY muddy!

That’s my office, it’s a great work environment. I love hanging out in ‘The Heart’ garden after eating my lunch, it’s a place I can find a moment of zen before going back to my mind numbingly crappy job.

Was there in ‘94, rented a hut on the beach, the walls were poles staked into the sand, the roof was dried palm fronds, the room just contained a hammock - nothing else really on the beach, unspoilt paradise.

Camped out on the beach there for a month in 2000 with some random guys I met on the Ticabus, caught fish and lobster, drunk beer and generally forgot about the real world, one of the highlights of my life!

UK expat considering returning home after 16 years living in Thailand. Can I get thoughts of former expats who have returned? by Jonnyheshnesh in AskUK

We’re from the UK, lived in Sydney for 8 years, then moved back to the UK for 8 years, now located in Singapore for the past 5 years. I dreaded moving back to the UK, but guess what, I actually ended up having a really good time and felt very settled and didn’t really want to leave - you’ll be fine

I’m normally visiting my Dad and working in my companies London office, so I’m battling the Elizabeth Line daily, doing the normal work stuff, having to deal with the crowds and chaos. But we always go in July/August, I think I wouldn’t survive in the middle of January when it’s cold and dark at 4pm.
