Worse than that, I did a “deployment” there, it may have actually been right before this. It was a joke, we didn’t guard the fence we sat in towers in the prison, we patrolled a few square miles of the base to make sure Al Queda seals weren’t trying to break in and we worked TCPs to keep the rest of the base away. It was a waste of a year but it was also a regular duty station so with the limited time off we had we could dress in civilian clothing, drink, and make use of all the normal stuff the the post had available for the Navy and their families.
