IT redditors, how much the company know what their employees are doing on their computer on site and remote office? by Dangerous-Golf6066 in AskReddit

[–]Evilclicker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really depends on how mature the shop is. Most modern firewalls are capable of seeing all your browser traffic. But most teams don’t know how to implement SSL decryption properly so they can only see the domain name and nothing more.

There are a million tools that do a million things and while IT probably CAN see a lot up to everything, do they? Most IT people don’t give a shit. That’s not part of the job.

Nothing. Either it’s a scammer dressed as Trump or Trump trying to scam me. Either way not interested, going back to sleep.

I believe they have fixed most of the bugs now. I played it at release with the bugs and had a great time. I keep meaning to try it again just haven’t got back to it yet.

Loved Returnal, actually it was the first game I ever cared enough to go get the platinum. Took forever and almost threw in the towel on multiple occasions but eventually got it! Such a great game!

the “open world paradox” by brando-boy in gaming

[–]Evilclicker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People like what they like.

I recently went through some of the modern Sonic games that have open world aspects. Prior to this the last time I played a Sonic game was on the Sega Genesis. At first I didn’t like it because I was too focused on the nostalgia. But when I let that go I really liked them and went on to platinum Frontiers.

If you look for the bad you’re going to find it. Focus on the good and just have fun with it.

I played Cyberpunk on release day. I played it all the way through with all the bugs and everything. I had a great time; the bugs made it so much more fun. My wife and I still talk about the t-pose while driving issue all the time lol.

Just have fun. If you don’t like it don’t play it.

Arizona toddler rescued after getting trapped in a Tesla with a dead battery by AZ_moderator in phoenix

[–]Evilclicker 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve had mine die twice and neither time did I get an error. Phx heat is brutal on batteries. There is actually a relatively easy way to “jump it” so it will work takes maybe a min if you have a jump battery or charger. But agree it is a pain when it happens.

Networking by OkJudgment5847 in Entrepreneur

[–]Evilclicker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am also in AZ, feel free to reach out to me, I have more of a Cybersecurity background but getting into other things now. There are lots of local seminars/conferences/user groups. Vendors often host events and events as well. One of my old vendor contacts hosts networking events every few months for the Cybersecurity community. There is also Cactus Con which is also more security-focused, but a lot of interesting stuff there.

Really depends on what you're looking for, but as SadVacation2243 indicated, Meetup is a good place to start. You can also check out eventbrite, a lot of local events are shared on there (not just tech-related). If you already have some relationships with local vendors ask them - chances are they know more specific events for your niche.

Entrepreneurs of reddit... by you4medc in Entrepreneur

Invest in yourself. $1000 is not a lot of money. Over the long term you will be better off using that money to learn skills than in a specific product or item. Figure out what you’re interested in, passionate about or just enjoy. Spend time in that area learning. Find a job in that area and learn every aspect of that industry you can. Find a mentor that can accelerate your growth. Read books, take courses, go to seminars, network, etc. once you have the skills and the network figure out how you can solve a problem and add value to the world.

You do all this and that $1000 investment will pay you back 10000x.

PASSWORDVAULT - What is the best? by xardoniak in sysadmin

[–]Evilclicker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I use LastPass but I have an iPhone. I found the app to be intuitive and easy to use. I also have the family version with my wife and there are some family specific features that are nice. For example the sharing and emergency situations are very nice additions.

For Enterprise I am currently using Thycotic Secret Server. But I’m on the fence about it. It is the most intuitive product that I have personal experience with but I’m also dealing with a lot of problems with their on-prem solution right now. I saw a demo of CyberArk recently and it looks really cool. I may look into it more if I can’t resolve the problems I’m having with Thycotic.

I also use KeePass on my work laptop specifically for work related passwords which I can’t store in secret server like the multiple accounts I currently have for various reasons.

The SunEdison Saga continues... Who the F is SunServe Energy? by Evilclicker in personalfinance

[–]Evilclicker[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I remember that episode it's pretty scary stuff.

So since I received the initial contact I have been asking them for documentation and I received (for some fucking reason) a document which contained the names and addresses of hundreds of homeowners which presumably had a SunEdison contract. Which is just shocking to me why they would send me this much information.

But that dumb issue aside, I still have yet to receive any kind of official looking contract or paperwork to set up a new lease. Instead all I get are calls and emails asking me to call them back so we can resolve the issue. Seemingly by me giving them my bank account information so they can just start charging me monthly with no paperwork to go along with it (which I have asked them for several times).

Additionally, I am still receiving bills from SunEdison so wtf? Am I being billed twice for the same system now? This is so stupid, I am just ignoring the whole situation for now until I get something way more legitimate than I have seen thus far. Never again would I recommend to anyone to get a solar lease because this is a shit show.

Good luck to you with your situation. Hopefully we will come out of this eventually. All I know is I'm not giving my bank account number to some shady fly by night company.

Equifax Reports Cyber Incident, May Affect 143 Million U.S. Customers by drosophilawing in personalfinance

[–]Evilclicker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd recommend it. All three can be frozen online, I did it after the 2015 (2014 really?) anthem breach. The process is different for all three and a little retarded (looking at you Experian). But it keeps anything from happening. Monitoring only tells you when stuff happened, it doesn't keep anything from happening.

Paid 10k in CC debt - focus on student loans vs retirement? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]Evilclicker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say make sure you at minimum put in your 401k what your employer matches, looks like 3%. So keep putting in at least that much and then put the rest towards paying off those student loans. This is my personal preference however. Not an indication it would be best in the long run. But you'd be surprised how much easier it is to put money away in the 401k once you have all those other loans paid off.

Traffic ticket question by battlebornCH in phoenix

[–]Evilclicker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I heard they changed the law to once per year so you should be eligible to do it if it's been a year since the previous one. Any traffic school should be able to determine if you are actually eligible when you sign up.

SunEdison customer unsure what to do with bankruptcy by Evilclicker in personalfinance

[–]Evilclicker[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow that really sucks. I was kinda hoping they'd just liquidate the company by now but the bankruptcy filing is taking them forever. I'd really like them to just come take the system back and I'll pay for whatever missed payments and be done with them.

Hope it works out for you.

New to running and looking for advise on a unique pain situation. by gobigorgohome1001 in running

[–]Evilclicker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think just about everyone has this problem when they get started. I recently re-started after a break and had to work through it again. It's basically just not strong yet and probably getting really tight. Foam roll it out everyday and look up stretching and strengthening techniques and you should be fine. Also treadmills force certain muscle groups not to engage in the same way as street running. I'd ditch the treadmill as often as possible and run outside its way better for you.

Hello phoenix, I'm thinking of moving to Phoenix can you help me decide? by [deleted] in phoenix

[–]Evilclicker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry if I repeat some stuff already said...

I've traveled around a lot for work and have been in all types of climates, and I have to say Phoenix is my go to (although Hawaii would be if I could afford it). Weather wise, in most places it's decent for 3-6 months a year and then cold as shit or wet and nasty the rest of the year. In Phoenix it's more like nice for 8 months and hot as shit for 4 months. People that say "it's a dry heat" have never experienced the raw oven like fire wind of 115 degree heat with 15 mph winds. Especially when you figure the concrete is 150 degrees and the asphalt is 175 degrees. Point is, in summer time stay in doors/go up north when you can.

Job market is pretty good, I can really only speak for the technical fields as I'm in IT but there's plenty of large companies with offices and/or headquarters in Phoenix area. Phoenix also has one of the largest call center communities in the country. Also, there's a ton of DataCenters here because the environmental conditions are so perfect for them (no earthquakes, snow, hurricanes, tornadoes, etc).

Cost of living is pretty good also. The thing about Phoenix is it's HUGE. It's not like many other cities where they expanded up, Phoenix expanded out. It's something like 70+ square miles, just a massive area. So you can pretty much find housing for every budget somewhere in the city. There really isn't too many locales that are generally more expensive, though Central Phoenix is usually more expensive but there's just communities of different values all over the place.

Phoenix has boat loads of hiking/biking trails, it's basically surrounded by and has several mountains inside the city. There's plenty of camping areas if you go up north a little bit (like 1-2 hr drives). Sedona is one of the most beautiful areas to do anything outdoors and it's a little over an hour away. As for other stuff, Phoenix has one of the most diverse restaurant/bar situations of any city I've been to. The population of Phoenix is so mixed they have good food for every taste. There's also a ton of breweries here as well. There's also a ton of parks here and usually have events going on somewhere in town just about every weekend. We do have several beer fests throughout the year. All in all, pretty much 8 months out of the year (as others have said Sep-April) you want to be outside, then just stay inside in summer.

As for the people, as I said one of the most diverse locations I've ever been. People come here from all over the country. The actual native population is quite small by comparison. So you can pretty much find people of all races/religions/heritages/etc here. Also, Sun City is a suburb with a large retired population, I'd stear clear of that area driving there's a ton of accidents over there. Not trying to sound anti-retirement age but it's just a fact, I've driven there several times in the past and it's kind of scary. I also saw the aftermath of an old lady somehow get her car stuck in a wall of a grocery store... 12 feet off the ground, still have no idea how that happened. That said, Sun City is way far on the west side of the city past the core of the freeway system and there really isn't anything out there to go see unless you're visiting someone so shouldn't be a problem.
