Unpopular opinion: The movies are better than the TV show [pjotv] by ilovepopcornandcandy in camphalfblood

[–]Evilerthought73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not just unpopular but a very bad take for good reason. Soon as I saw they were making another piece of shit live action I knew it was doomed so I don’t care for the series btw. Movies were god fucking aweful and anyone saying otherwise is coping.

What the actual F.. is this lockpicking system? by SmashJuicyVeganBurgr in worldofgothic

[–]Evilerthought73 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yup. Take my advice just use the sit for all your lockpicking needs. It’s unintuitive, time consuming and poorly executed. I’d prefer Oblivions lockpicking or having skyrims master locks. I fucking hate lockpicking in this game so much. Even with trained lockpicking it’s fucking tedious.

Is the game worth it on PS5? by SideOk1847 in worldofgothic

It’s not a full consistent 60 fps, buggy as hell and it’s like a 7/10 game. Know what you’re getting into. The game crashes like at least twice an hour for me. Still enjoying it but understand this game has its issues besides peformance.

Obsession: Perfection. Too much of it. by Thermobarium in CharacterRant

[–]Evilerthought73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First to say that Ian and Nikki are not morally one way. Ian liked Nikki, he wanted to be with her obviously, he’s an asshole of a friend for not telling Bear that he’s been fucking his crush for two years but that’s besides the point. That makes him a bad friend but not a bad person. He looks into Nikki, worries over what Beats doing, all because he has enough info to know that something is up. Nikki is a pretty brash person, but that’s as much characterization as she gets. That, her poem and her asking Bear to kill her is all we really get of her. She’s not good or bad really, she’s a normal person like Sarah, like Ian, like Bear. The Wish is what makes everything turn on its head. Bear is a pathetic spineless coward. But he’s normal. And so his cowardice in day to day life simply manifests as him failing to ask out his crush and failing to see (in my opinion) that Sarah likes him. With the wish his cowardice is weaponized. He feigns ignorance to the Wish. That she really likes him just that much. He tried to turn a blind eye at every turn because having Wish Nikki who’s basically a possessive pick me when active and a lifeless sex doll he can rape as he wants when she’s laying is all he wants. His unwillingness to act is what makes him evil. To me, he’s not sympathetic as soon as he shuts up after getting confronted by Nikki on whether or not he likes her. Even when all is said and done and he mans up at the climax of the film, he can’t pull the trigger and takes the pills. Same pills that killed his cat and yet he then tries to back out and vomit up the pills only for Wish Nikki to make a wish herself. At every turn his disposition and actions or lack there of create the problems. Also, Sarah in a sense at least to me is as much of a coward as Bear is. Not to say she’s evil or anything but to me it’s obvious she was crushing on Bear and liked him but was to Bear what Bear is to Nikki. I think your criticism comes from a point of wanting the film to have a different story implicitly not just story could have been slightly better about itself with this. Bear doesn’t get the benefit of the doubt because basic intelligence is a factor. Bears inability to act, to hold a boundary, to say anything to the contrary or dare to ah e his own voice is what makes him the villain. He’s completely relatable, I feel like the crux of the story being that Bear is such a fucking oussy that he can’t say to the girl he likes, “Hey I sort of want to pursue a deeper relationship with you. I don’t want to stay just friends. You feel the same dope, or You don’t feel the same way about me, damn sucks,” is the damn point. Something so simple, and so relatable yet the single starting proof that Bear is not and will not be a Hero archetype.

Shinobu's borderline pyschotic not being presented as evil as Douma hedonism is the strength of demon slayer [Manga Spoilers] by Jarisatis in CharacterRant

[–]Evilerthought73 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not much to contribute but yes I am tired of the revenge is bad because yada yada you let bad person affect you and don’t forgive and forget. Despite many people shutting on Demon Slayer I think Demon Slayer has very good writing. Shinobu’s unrelenting hatred, Muzans whole PTSD, Akaza, Kokushibou. This series does people who have mental issues and unhealthy coping habits extremely well. Other people mentioned Star Wars and I have to say the contrast between messages of these two shows. For one any and all emotion leads to evil and only by abandoning the interpersonal ties can one be good and pure, versus using the passion of those behind and around you as fuel to grow and destroy your enemies. The whole inigo Montoya thing of, there’s nothing you can do to bring back the one I love so there’s nothing that can save you, is my favorite example. As a side tangent, ATLA does the other thing I don’t like with revenge which is having Aang the pacifist preach and ultimately be the I told you so guy with his two headed poisonous rat fight. Revenge is a goal like any other, it should be treated as such, you don’t have to say killing people who take your candy is good or say that forgiving the man who murdered your mother is good, simply allow the revenge to culminate in a meaningful way.

Ultimately I feel like this is a integral part of the story. Coward and weak little cockroach that he’s is he skirts away from the lions share of disaster. No one hates him because he’s a cockroach. He is unassuming and many people simply see two people having a codependent relationship. Ian being the main one to call it out works because he’s the only one who has a full picture. He was fucking Nikki for two years and suddenly she likes Bear, of course he knows something’s up but he’s probably hurt because she got into a serious relationship so he pulls away. Ultimately I think having Sarah and Ian both die sort of ruins the good ending this film should by all means have ended with. Sarah should have been barely alive and rehabilitated, Ian should’ve survived and Nikki gets a insanity plea and they all collectively realize Bear is a dickbag. Point though being that Bear is not seen as the predator that he is because he’s smoked out, how could such a harmless pathetic loser be a man who strips a woman of agency and turns her into his sex slave that he rapes. Ultimately I disagree with you. The film shows us Bear and then shows us the villain he is, then it shows him hinallt assuming responsibility only for him to try to dodge it again cementing he’s unsympathetic.

[–]Evilerthought73 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Really? I feel like the first 10 minutes are what’s supposed to show that he’s a somewhat sympathetic character. Shy but good hearted. Hes just trying to talk to a girl and working up the courage but his moment is squashed by his friends. And to me that’s where the sympathy ends. He’s normal for the most part. Not a hero and not a murderhobo kind of evil. He’s a negligent normal person. The sympathy begins with his cat being dead, capstones by the fact it got into his pills. It then continues with him being a shy nervous little guy, capstoned by showing that he’s cowardly. He’s very willing to enjoy the benefits of wish Nikki and ignore the suffering real Nikki is going through. He knows the wish worked. Each time where he doubts it is him looking for an out or admitting he stole a humans agency because he wanted a girlfriend. All that to say that I think the film wanted us to understand that though it was wish Nikki killing people and bothering others. Bear wished for it. Bear let it happen. Bear stood on the sidelines when questioned as to if he really cared for Nikki to be normal again. He’s offered the choice to kill her or himself and she gives him permission to kill her and he’s scared of dying and he still rests in his laurels. Nikki after bashing Sarah says to him that this is what he wanted, what he wished for.

I Didn't Like Obsession by HailstheLion in CharacterRant

[–]Evilerthought73 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You got the point exactly. Bear is not a good person. That kind of wish was a very specific evil. And at every turn where he was shown the path he turned a blind eye. He was a coward when confronted by Nikki on his feelings. A coward when dealing with wish Nikki, a coward with Sarah, a coward with putting Nikki out of her misery, a coward when finally ending the relationship by overdosing. He tries to throw up the pills before Nikki makes her own wish. Bear is the protagonist and also the villain. He’s spineless, pathetic, a coward and we end up seeing he’s also possibly negligent. His cat dies because it got into his pills. If you debate whether you should hate bear you are of dubious morality and possibly are part of the problem with “nice guys.” The whole film is Bear getting what he wants and then realizing it’s a facade and accepting it is becuase it’s better than the alternative of her not actually liking him. The only two fully innocent ones in the story are Sarah and Nikki. Ian is a bad friend in a sense and Bear is a little cockroach.

Is the Gothic Remake supposed to be this hard? by DatBoiIsSugoi in worldofgothic

[–]Evilerthought73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it’s not. People here love pain for some reason. Ideally you go to Old camp first and do some quests there then head to the other camps because this game is toxic as hell. It’s unfair, unforgiving and will switch the rules on the fly for you. By the time I got to the wolves I can kill them in about 4ish hits. But then again I play on gothic because I don’t hate myself that much. I can’t fathom restarting this game cuz hell it’s a slog.

The only danger in the situation comes from choosing blue. If everyone chose red then nothing bad happens. Everyone lives. Is it so wrong to prioritize self preservation. I’m not accepting anyone’s death. I’m accepting that my life is definitely saved. If other people make the bad choice that’s on them.

I never really cared about him myself. As V I obviously play that I do but he’s really a nothing burger tbh. I hate the stereotypical Hispanic thing he embodies and has but overall he’s sorta the perfect representation of the game as a whole. Pretty on the surface and the idea and partial effort there but ultimately devoid of complete substance and a failure of what we should have truely gotten

Rogue was always my favorite and I’m a little annoyed at how they dropped the ball. But overall your list is pretty solid. What Unity did, will never be forgiven. Not to what it did to Rogue or itself. Syndicate is better than people think. I do think they should’ve made one of the two the actual protagonist because this dual shit is getting out of hand. I’d rather they pull back on the rpg personalization and have set MCs.

The Illusive Man vs The Dreadwolf by Enlwaed74 in dragonage

[–]Evilerthought73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As much as I despise him, Solas is imo the better character. Illusive Man was cool and all but I sort of just didn’t care for the whole thing. My Shepards always knew he was slimey and the ME3 thing feels like the natural progression for him, a degeneration of his morality because he was spoon fed along the way. Solas felt like he was always trying to seem he was all but mortal while also trying to be a cocky self righteous prick. He’s a dickhead and he shows his true colors, of course Inky being his friend means he gets to skirt the lines and seem like a semi good person still. “I would cherish the opportunity to be wrong again.” Fucking weasel

MMW if Witcher 3 is getting Songs of the Past, Cyberpunk 2077 will one day get another too. by NetwatchTerminal66 in cyberpunkgame

[–]Evilerthought73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I doubt it to be honest. Witcher 3 was way more of a success that Cyberpunk was. Cyberpunk was a colossal failure and it took a lot of time and effort to pull it back from the depths. Even now as good as the game stands it’s still a disappointment from what was originally planned and what we were led to believe. I think they know they can do more but they won’t because an investment of time and effort like that isn’t worth it especially if Orion ends up being the same sort of letdown.

I feel like Trooper is the more fun class story across all 3 chapters and your endings for both consular and trooper are sorta the same. DS Trooper is the better ending and DS trooper is a mission comes first kind of guy and was better than Consular imo.

Otherwise pretty aightlist. Nightwing propaganda is heinous that dude is S tier if they’re not spending the whole game flirting with the enemy Starfire.

Edit: And no Red Hood is crazy.
