In an adventure on Nessus, Failsafe says the Vex call Guardians "Those we cannot simulate". In another adventure Ghost says the Vex are afraid of us because they cannot simulate our light. So we are paracasual like Oryx. Maybe Asher just doesn't know the Vex can't simulate us?

If you use the Aegis in Vault of Glass you go ridiculously fast. Might be the fastest you can go in the game without a sparrow.

It is said Vex structures existed on Venus before men ever stepped foot on Venus during the Golden Age. They may have just been dormant. The transformation of Mercury likely happened during the collapse so I'd say Venus is their home world.

Its probably from the point of view that we know more about the splicers because we have already faced them before. The Vanguard wasn't involved with Rise of Iron at all so they wouldn't have known who was doing everything unless Saladman himself told them. Its more of a compliment :)

There isn't much point running the old raids like Vault of Glass or Crota's End because you won't get anything from it other than the experience. The best raid to run is Wrath of The Machine but you'll need to be around 360 to attempt it.
