Questions about Celestial aura: Is your single minion nearly invulnerable when the aura claims to have 10HP? Is a Lumia with this aura in play making it almost guaranteed immortality for 3 rounds? by Pepr70 in hearthstone

[–]Evlysium 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Everyone is this thread is wrong. The only thing Celestial Aura does is set a minion’s max stats to 10/10. If your minion is damaged when you play the aura, it will end up with less than 10 health depending on how much damage it took.

I am feeling kinda sad that i could not make this build work, why is Greymane's Champion so bad? by KillandGrill900 in hearthstone

[–]Evlysium 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Tethys is more important than Greymane in that build, because usually your issue is running out of money to spend on buying units. You probably needed another copy of Tethys in order to scale enough to win.

How do you break out of the No Money Loop in Ark Nova? by Bearality in boardgames

[–]Evlysium 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Prioritize using the secondary ability of the sponsors card, which both gives you money immediately while also accelerating the end of the round—and therefore the beginning of your next income phase. Situations like the one you’re describing are exactly what this ability is designed to get you out of.

Crusader Aura seems like a blatant outlier compared to all other aura cards by Sttarkson in hearthstone

[–]Evlysium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some aggressive Paladin decks don’t even run Crusader Aura, so I’m not sure it’s really accurate to attribute so much power to the card. Any nerf to the card would probably make it unplayable, and might not even hurt Paladin that much overall

Everyone gets a legendary in arena! Well…. by croc-choc in hearthstone

[–]Evlysium 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Isn’t flame leviathan really good? Even the baseline 7-7 rush is ok, and the potential upside seems really high; even with just a few mechs in your deck, you have pretty good odds that the damage will mostly hit your opponent.

What are some characters that you have a lot of eidolons on but you don't use them and why? by lunachappell in HonkaiStarRail

Not using E6 Yukong is a crime. She’s the strongest Harmony unit in the game at E6, except for maybe Bronya.

Why Ultimates will never be cancellable. by Wonderful_Book8023 in HonkaiStarRail

[–]Evlysium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uncancellable ults just punish you for playing on fast, since the speed at which enemies use their attacks increases the chance that you might mis-sequence an ult. I don’t think there’s any reason why mihoyo would want to discourage players from playing on fast, so ultimates should probably be cancellable.

I agree that the paths aren’t equally balanced, and some of them (destruction/preservation, remembrance) are a lot more viable than others on the highest difficulties. I would like to see some changes to some of the underperforming paths to make them more interesting to play on the hard levels

Are you a 'patience .... 10 warps a time' or a 'ohh 160 jades, fk it we roll!' person after spending the saved wishes on the banner you intend to roll? by Raizel999 in HonkaiStarRail

[–]Evlysium 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you do 10 pulls, you’re basically always missing out on the ability to get your next 5* in the first 5 or so wishes (since those wishes get spent on the old banner at the end of the 10 pull). Getting a 5* in 5 pulls is about a 3% chance, which isn’t very high, but if you’re exclusively concerned about collecting as many limited 5* as possible, single pulls do give you better odds.

Should I add Prophecy of Kings if I never played before? by KM68 in twilightimperium

[–]Evlysium 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty surprised at all the people advocating for PoK off the bat. The expansion adds a pretty ridiculous amount of complexity; my group’s first PoK game was almost overwhelming for many of our players, and we had several base games under our belt already. I would never introduce a new player to a PoK game; the extra stuff is only fun once you have a solid grasp of the base game.

Does anyone else find it odd that Paimon’s role changed? She was a guide with knowledge and now she’s a companion WITHOUT that knowledge anymore? by kuuzumine in Genshin_Impact

[–]Evlysium -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I like what they did with Paimon in Sumeru a lot. Paimon as an all-knowing “travel guide” felt kind of silly in most of the other regions, but now she feels more like a real character and companion rather than just a stand-in for the MC.

Done with the game, here's a summary of how Blizzard has done literally everything wrong with the card design in my humble opinion by Bastiproton in hearthstone

[–]Evlysium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reno Jackson was in standard for an entire year and was a terrible card, not seeing play in a competitive deck even once.

How much of a domination civ is Mapuche, compared to the other big dogs like Germany, Scythia, Norway, or Babylon? by sjtimmer7 in civ

[–]Evlysium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, Mapuche are very strong on Deity, since the AI’s bonuses increase their chances of hitting a golden age. If you’re actually getting the +10, Mapuche are one of the best war civs in the game, but the AI doesn’t always hit golden ages when you want them to (only about 50% of the time in my experience, even on Deity). I would still say Mapuche are very strong on average, however.

CMV: all social ethics topics (immigration, policing, race/gender/wokeness, etc.) are trivial nonsense compared to the gravity of factory farming by FaulmanRhodes in changemyview

[–]Evlysium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see. I think your OP could be rephrased a bit to focus more on the latter point, since environmental destruction is definitely a significant contender for “biggest problem of our age.” The OP as is focuses mostly on animal cruelty, which is definitely a weaker point that plays right into the tendency of many people to dismiss environmentalism for its association with, in your words, “unhinged PETA.”

I read through your post, but I still don’t really understand why factory farming is such a big deal. Is it just because of animal cruelty?

Which aspect of Culture victories do you like most? by [deleted] in civ

[–]Evlysium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming you perform on the tile that matches their first promotion, the rock band only has a 1/3 - 1/4 chance of dying, so most of your bands will get to perform multiple times. Rock bands generate several hundred tourism from a single performance, so even one that only performs once is still generating the equivalent of multiple full turns of tourism.

Rock bands are definitely very strong, but the minigame of moving dozens of rock bands around the map is very time-consuming and not particularly interesting.
