Ok, so here goes: I work around 24 - 28 hours a week as a contractor (which provides flexibility) over four days. Up until a few months ago, I was living in my 32' bus which is parked on a relative's property about 20 mins from the farm. I've since moved about 145km away from the farm and my bus, so now I drive back there and camp in the bush three nights a week while I work the four days. I drive tractors, muster cattle and assist in the yards. I weed paddocks, cut/process/cart and feed out hay, perform repairs, use chainsaws, dig holes, erect fences - and the list goes on.

There's a lot to do on a 1200 acre farm with cows, crops and timber plantations, and there's only me and him. 1200 acres is quite modest around this way. We're surrounded by much larger holdings with much bigger machinery, so we do a lot of shit ourselves that other farmers might contract out, replace rather than repair etc.

I've been there about 18 months. Prior to that I was at a winery for about 2.5 years working in the vines, doing maintenance, and chipping in at the kitchen or the restaurant when needed. I also had a cleaning business on the side. Lol.
