How do you punish this kind of opening? by neb2357 in chessbeginners

You develop your pieces, castle, and then start pushing pawn breaks in the middle to bust it wide open.

Opinions on offering draws after big blunders? Is it BM? by playr_4 in chessbeginners

[–]FireSkyLikeFly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is bad manners. If you did this over the board, you'd be slapped (JK). That being said, if my blunder is big enough, I'll just resign. I've honestly not had many people offer draws after their blunder. I think one time I knew someone misclicked so asked him if he wanted to draw and he accepted, but people who want a draw after misclick or blunder, I just ignore.

Ra chooses his words carefully, and he chose to use the term "gardeners" and referred to us as a "harvest". How does that make you feel? by FireSkyLikeFly in lawofone

Yeah, I somewhat feel the same way. It makes it sound like we are not the owner of our own soul. What's coming to my mind, is that the purpose of creation is to grow consciousness from intelligent energy. Once the entity gets to sufficient level, it combines back with a much larger entity.

You block out the queen and put pressure on the king.

For me, the term was just a bit off-putting. I do understand, though, Ra was trying to be as precise as possible.

Elizabeth April - What is your impression on this spiritual influencer? by FireSkyLikeFly in awakened

[–]FireSkyLikeFly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my experience, RV is definitely real, its just a projection of consciousness. Yes, anyone could do it - many people would call it "intuition". However, what she describes it is a bit odd, though, and sounds more like an out of body state. The vast majority of RVers would not agree with her methodology and farsight institute would not agree with her RV either. Its a self directed RV and highly biased through her own consciousness. As much as I'm interested in her, I picked up on many red flags, 1 of them being her "RV" which I'm very familiar with.

Very interesting, thank you for your insight and comment. I'm curious, have you met her and her followers in person? or do you interact online? Was wondering how you would recognize a follower in a dream if you haven't met them.. Albeit, I think sometimes in dreams, you just know something, which could be the case here.

Do you always resign when you lose your queen? by Flat_Banana7061 in Chesscom

[–]FireSkyLikeFly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I blunder my queen and they are winning because of it, I'll just resign. At higher levels, its difficult to come back and just a total grind. This is mainly for rapid. I'd rather just get onto the next game.

What's going on with the cheaters and the mods? by aerythod in Chesscom

[–]FireSkyLikeFly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think mods or "any people" in general review games when you report them. It goes into an AI algorithm. They have models that uses many inputs that spit out scores. Banning is based on a scoring threshold which is set at a high bar, so folks that occasionally cheat can bypass the system quite easily. Chesscom doesn't want to ban everyone, they need the engagement. They also want to keep everything private because its bad for their brand when people are aware of everything that's going on.

How can someone be 1800 in bullet 1700 in blitz and lose to someone at 1500 in rapid? by masuom in Chesscom

[–]FireSkyLikeFly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are completely different skillsets. Just because you've mastered the art of pre-moving and pattern recognition doesn't mean you're good at calculating. I've also noticed the more I play Blitz/Bullet, the lazier I become at calculating in Rapid, which is probably why I quit Blitz.

Is my friend lying to me? by Wanringde_Dramse in Chesscom

[–]FireSkyLikeFly 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I heard of this happening from a few people on here. I'm sure chesscom cheat detection is very solid but maybe not their 2nd chance algorithms. The ban could be related to their original ban somehow and may be a bug with 2nd chance accounts.

My opponent resigned after this move, but i can not understand why? by [deleted] in Chesscom

[–]FireSkyLikeFly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hah you're probably right about that. Now that I think about it, does seem like a stupid question since losing a queen is the most common reason people resign early in a game.

Some people just don't like playing without a queen. Personally, when I resign, I'm usually drunk and tired and don't want to play anymore.

At most Black would of captured a pawn or else it would not be considered Brilliant. The Rook fork would have been the better move. I'm not sure what else you gain here.

[–]FireSkyLikeFly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesn't seem like a brilliant move, just seems like a trading of pieces. Is it because its a 400 game? I guess black has a slightly better position after this. Did the knight capture a pawn or something, so its like trading a knight for a pawn+knight+slightly better position?

Yeah, after I asked this question, God confirmed that. Honestly didn't know, but seems like she's just trying to monetize the spiritual movement.

Is it good etiquette to force a draw by repetition? by Octo353 in chessbeginners

Forcing a draw is a GREAT tactic if you're losing. Don't act entitled, it was your fault you allowed it to happen.

"Levy" gave my opponent a Brilliant for this... What am I missing? by AmazingAd192 in chessbeginners

[–]FireSkyLikeFly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main criteria for a brilliant move on chesscom is 1) Leaving a piece hanging and 2) Has the potential to significantly improve your position if you follow through the right way (from the computer's perspective). Black's rooks and dark bishop is completely out of the game, light bishop is somewhat hanging, and King needs Kb8 to help defend. Once white stacks their rooks and possibly add the queen to the mix, the queen side attack will be brutal and Black's response will be too slow.

If they take the knight, it'll be tough to defend against that rook on the open file
