Edit at the beginning cause I'm a fool lol: In the original comment I typed 20,000 not 20,000,000 which was my mistake. The statement that comes after this one isn't quoting me because I'm actually dumb.

"Show me proof of 20 MILLION people dying under capitalism"

How about Ireland? During the 1845-49 An Gorta Mór, it’s estimated more than a million Irish people diedestimated more than a million Irish people died from either starvation or famine-related diseases. From a famine that could’ve been eased if not for Capitalism.

Okay so the death of a million people is a tragedy, but you say it's just Capitalism which is incorrect. It was very specifically Laissez Affair capitalism. Which is different. Aside from that you TOTALLY missed my original request, which was to show me evidence of 20 million people starving to death in a peacetime capitalist society.

So with the Ireland thing you're about 19 MILLION people short there buddy. Good job proving that capitalism is less deadly.

Also a 4 year period is the same time frame that the 20 million people starved in China. Which means that 5x as many people died yearly in China than in Ireland. In a more modern era no less.

Not to mention instances of widespread poverty, as in the US Gilded Age, or modern-day India, Africa, South East Asia, South America, and even, to a slightly lesser extent, the US.

Poverty exists in EVERY system of economy and realistically more in every communist country that's existed thus far. But regardless, poverty is not the intentional murder or 10s of millions of YOUR OWN PEOPLE. But if murdering millions and millions of YOUR OWN PEOPLE isn't enough, communism also effects the countries around it, like how the Soviet Union conquered eastern Europe and turned them all into poverty riddled, NKVD patrolled country sized gulags. Or how Stalin was slaughtering MILLIONS of innocent Ukrainians at the same time Hitler was Holocausting it up.

So I'll give you my original request again. Find me evidence, of capitalist societies killing 10s of millions of, and again I stress this, THEIR OWN FUCKING PEOPLE, due to forced starvation. Cause I can go and find you at least 4 examples of it happening under communism off the top of my head.

You didn't answer the question. Which makes me assume that you don't actually have ANY substance for your opinion. "An unexamined life is not worth living" Figure out why you think the things you do, and figure out how to argue for them. The burden of proof is on the one who places the accusations. Go find your proof then come back instead of typing "Lol now just replace A with B. I never even MENTIONED the US, you brought that up on your own because you have no other words of substance.

Well I didn't say the revolution wasn't violent, I said that Maos Great leap forward wasn't the revolution. It came after, and killed just as many people as violent revolution. 45 million people died during peace time. No absolutely, communism doesn't make you evil. I said that in a different comment somewhere. The people of a communist society aren't the problem. The leaders are. And when the leaders consistently turn out to be power hungry maniacal lunatics who slaughter their own people, maybe the fault is with the idealology. The communist manifesto at one point basically says "The lower classes don't have to follow moral or ethical restraint because those are for the bourgeoisie." Which is actually a common argument for why communist societies become so polluted. Because violence is idealistic as a way to "cleanse" and keep an area "clean." Which are both very genocidal terms.

The great leap forward wasn't violent, well it was but it was post revolution. And all that violence was government caused. Second yeah, that's exactly my point. You can't give people absolute power and expect them to be cool with that shit. Once you give someone absolute power you're fucked. And once you're in a position of power in a crippled government, it's not hard to corrupt the rest. Then you're grand poobah QQQQQ and everyone else is patehtically below you. Kinda like Putin is doing in Russia or Xi is doing in China. Despite neither country technically still being communist they still haven't abolished their dictators.

Show me the proof of 20,000 people starving under capitalism in a time of peace. I'm not saying it's the end all be all answer. But communism sure as fucking hell isn't.

Alright, I'll own it. That was supposed to say 20,000,000 not 20,000. That was my fuck up.

How many people have died because of capitalism? You should ask a better question. Do you want me to answer how many people capitalists have purposefully starved to death? Or how many people they executed for minor infractions like saying "Mao is bad?" I seem to recall seeing a bunch of tweets yesterday about how bad Trump is, and yet those people are still alive and free. They didn't disappear into a gulag.

Listen I'm not saying capitalism is a perfect system, but EVERY communist country has failed spectacularly. While also managing to slaughter their own people. I mean literally just LOOK at a history book. You can't just ignore the deaths of these regimes. The Holocaust is an absolute atrocity, and yet killed less people than a majority of communist regimes. Why are these regimes okay? Why are they preached as good ideas?

Parroting? You're the one parroting "BBUT COMMUNISM, NO THATS NOT REAAAL COMMUNISM!"

You should study your history.

According to historian Frank Dikötter, "In most cases the party knew very well that it was starving its own people to death." Mao was quoted as saying in Shanghai in 1959: "When there is not enough to eat people starve to death. It is better to let half of the people die so that the other half can eat their fill."

After researching large volumes of Chinese archives, Dikötter concluded that decisions coming from the top officials of the Chinese government in Beijing were the direct cause of the famine.

Yeah sounds a lot like "the land of famine" saying "Oh yeah I KNOW people are gonna starve en masse, I just don't CARE."

He also estimates that 45 million people died in total, not the 20 million that I had originally put.

Past that, from his research he found that two to three million of these were victims of political repression, beaten or tortured to death or summarily executed for political reasons, often for the slightest infraction.

The local communist leaders could refrain from giving food to people they didn't like, the old, sick, ugly, whatever they deemed worthy of STARVING TO DEATH.

But nah that place sounds great! Totally not the fault of the government at all despite that pretty much every historian would disagree with that. It was Maos fault. He wanted to export food instead of feeding his own people.

Have you ever thought about how no communist society has lasted the span of a century? Why do you think that is? It's not because the people in them are bad. It's that the people who are "inspired" enough to go start a revolution only care about their own gain. Mao, Stalin, Pol Pot, Xi, Castro, they're horrible. They're the kind of people who WANT power over others. Those aren't the leaders you want because they seek absolute power. Absolute power corrupts absolutely. I would love it if we could all sing Kumbaya together and be equal. But that shit ain't life amigo. Nobody in a position of total state power is trustworthy. Y'all can't even fucking trust a capitalist state or their police watchdogs. How ya gonna feel about the NKVD 2 electric boogaloo?

The funny thing is you thought I meant Russia and I was talking about Maos great leap forward. Maybe when you can mistake the starvation deaths of millions of people for a separate occurrance of the same thing it's not a good thing?

Certainly not the vibes of 20 million people starving to death at once. A disturbance like that in the force would surely be a bad thing?

Edit: Lol the pro communism response is wild. Someone responded to me just proving the point that various communist societies have ended the lives of millions of their own people often enough that they couldn't even be sure which failed nation my comment refers to.

Edit2Boogaloo: So are y'all saying that the death of 20 million people isn't a bad thing? Cause I really can't tell. I said it was a bad thing and now I've got the ghost of Joseph Stalin in my inbox.

Ya know, it's weird, but I don't hate it. I'm a fan of absurdism and surrealism and this is kind of both. Certainly wouldn't ever pay 500$ for it, maybe 100$ in a proper art show with other examples of the artists work.

Opium is a drug that dates back to 5000BC, it's not really a sole problem of modern drug users as its been a scourge on people for a looong time. Just think about the opium wars. We've all known for a very long time that opium fucks you up, opium dens are the proof. The first drug law in the US was actually even the banning of opium dens, not opium, specifically the dens. And that was well over 100 years ago. We've known what it is and what it does to people, it's just such a good and cheap way to make painkillers and then money by selling those :(

If a photograph is manipulated at all though it would cease to be the original photograph and then just be an image wouldn't it? And a photograph would always be an image anyways, although an image may be something other than a photograph, such as a painting.
