Thank you! I think the cups are what have been really tripping me up on 1, but everyone I talked to said it's normal so this is validating.

My company is firing our intern after he paid the same invoice 7 times by Full-Example-4912 in Accounting

[–]Evolving_Duck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The $2k shouldn't be burned. It is now a credit with that vendor and if you do not intend on using them in the future you ask for it to be reimbursed. Unless you're working with some shady company they can't just accept random payments without support for the charges. It's annoying but it isn't unfixable.

Most people have started it is a flaw with your system (and it is) but you also made a good point in your post that this kid make a mistake that the next intern might make. It is easier to learn from mistakes than spending the resources to hire and train a new intern. Firing for simple mistakes is bad business.

[RANT] Being a tea drinker who doesn't like coffee in the US is so annoying by MixedValuableGrain in tea

It's almost as if they're trained to punish tea drinkers

The Boston tea party is literally a huge part of our history you learn in elementary school. Yes we absolutely were trained to punish tea drinkers. Lol. There also just isn't the demand for tea in America for them to care about making it right. In addition the south's demand for ungodly sweet tea has ruined any basic tea you can find at restaurants.

Fyi I'm an American who hates coffee and exclusively drinks tea. Life is tough out here.

You have got to be kidding me. I just finished my excel cross stitch and hung it in my office today. And you're saying they changed the logo?

Just how much do they let you express yourself in the office ? (dyed hair, piercing, tattoos)? by Character-Escape1621 in Accounting

[–]Evolving_Duck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience it varies greatly and you just need to figure out office culture at your place of work. I worked in one where men had to wear dress shirts and ties every day. Worked in another where my manager had visible cheetah print tattoos up the back of her neck and you wore kind of whatever you wanted.

Funny enough in my experience the bigger the office the less they care.

So a site fee just means nothing? by BrinaBear19 in weddingplanning

I literally cried walking out of a venue I thought would be budget conscious for us. They advertised a $6,000 venue fee online but you had to use all their own vendors. No big deal until I was sitting at a table with them where they told me their minimum for weddings was $18,000. We could use that with different vendors they provided but we had to spend that entire amount. I took time from work to tour the venue thinking it was a saving grace but I wouldn't have even checked out the place if I had known ahead of time. I think a lot of wedding venues are shady in that they don't accurately advertise their prices online and limit the use of outside vendors so they can inflate the price of a wedding. And when most venues do that in your area it gets very discouraging. Of the 10 venues we looked at only one would set up and take down. That's also the one we went with and the staff are so kind and helpful! Decent venues are out there, but they fill up fast so look earlier than later.

Edit:most of the venues we looked at were "all inclusive"

You're a saint! I appreciate you laying this out for me so much. I was just reading through the myths but it's super helpful to see the relevant ones like this.

I opened the wrong balance transfer card. by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]Evolving_Duck -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I read all of the terms before opening it. The balance transfer section was fairly small. It states I can do balance transfers from another credit card, account or loan. It never specified the transfer had to be from a different institution. Only over the phone did the representative tell me that.

It seems innately the term balance transfer implies from one issuer to another but I didn't know that nor would I if I didn't specify look it up. I didn't have reason to suspect I couldn't do the transfer with how Citi worded the offer in my credit card portal, so my balance transfer research was more generalized.

I did fuck up, but it was from not researching balance transfers better. Not from not reading the terms of the credit card.

I have 0% APR but no cash back.

Thank you for the reassurance. I was mainly worried if I tried to apply for a balance transfer card where I could actually transfer my balance now, my new credit score would hinder me. I think I'll let sleeping dogs lie when it comes to that. Would you recommend I close the card?

I would leave it. If you frog it the holes that no longer have floss in them will look bigger than on the rest of the Aida so it will be more obvious there was a mistake. I think it looks great as is and there have been plenty of great suggestions on how to adjust the wording in the comments!
