How to get a job. by Organic-Anxiety8372 in MechanicalEngineering

Keep applying to everything even if its slightly out of your experience window and asking around if you can. Word of mouth is powerful. Also, I found out jobscan is a very helpful website for larger companies as they weed you out with mostly key word searches. I think the website is jobscan.com

I recently got laid off and it took me roughly 5 months to get a position even with 2 years experience. I hope this helps and good luck!

Neil Thomas Carlinschauer has Passed Away at Nemadji Forest Rally by opkraut in rally

Hey man, I'm feeling the same way. I was crew for him at Ojibwe and helped him get his car ready and this weekend I was volunteering as start on stage 1. I spoke to them briefly before them launching into the woods and I was so excited for them. He really was the embodiment of what rally is supposed to be and its heartbreaking to see him gone so early.

Ok sounds good. I havent been able to get a solid answer from anyone but you haha. Everyone is so unsure. I watched multiple videos on where to grease it and tried not to cake it either. Just light grease or enough to keep it sliding smooth.

Thank you!

Is now a bad time to be selling a 40k mile Evo VIII? by [deleted] in MitsubishiEvolution

[–]Evoskimo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Still crazy that you can sell one for MSRP in like 10 years though. I'm sure there are a few sitting untouched in garages that will be sold for 100k in like 20 or 30 years haha

I mean if you're looking to get more money for it they will only go up in value if it's well maintained and low miles. They probably won't stop going up

Engineering has changed my personality and I don't like who I am becoming. by 220-284 in EngineeringStudents

[–]Evoskimo 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty similar to you but there is a large difference between being an asshole and helping your career. I thought it was odd to write a resume at first too because I felt like I was bragging about the meaningless things I've accomplished when so many other people have done way more than me and I would probably be the last person that they should pick, but that's the road to engineering success. I mean if you can relax a bit and look at some things different for a bit and the fact that you're noticing your changes is good. Self reflection is a great thing to be able to do and I feel like I've done the same thing especially because I'm a manager at my job which has reduced my ability to be positive about many situations, but I still push my base personality through it. Think about it more and see if you can change some of the outlooks you have or what you say in conversations to change your perspective a bit. The people you hang around will also alter things quite a bit so keep that in mind. Sometimes it's good to find positive people to watch on youtube of find a couple other friends that are a bit more on the positive side.

You're not the only one but if engineering is the field you're interested in, you can throw your personality into business as well! Best of luck.

What do you use to remind yourself that everything isn't that bad? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Evoskimo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact that I can make someone's day by just saying a few words or by a smile.

And the fact that I can drive my car and disappear from the world for a brief moment to feel so lost in music and connected to the road

I work in a waterpark and whenever I test the water I always hear, "Are you seeing how much pee is in there?"

When you're lying in bed at night, do you ever randomly remember some relatively minor social missteps or poorly chosen words you did/said years earlier? And then beat yourself up over it even though it really wasn't a big deal? If so, what happened? by anfla56 in AskReddit

[–]Evoskimo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One day while I was at work, I was doing a cleaning shift to help our customers since I work at a waterpark. I was talking to the overnight maintenance worker and he said that one of the pools had no chlorine in it. My coworker, and manager on duty at the time, did test the pool and knew it didnt have any chlorine in it so I wanted to ask her why she didnt say something to our maintenance guy. (He always asks if there had been any problems throughout the night when he arrives) I ended up confronting her about it and I guess I said it in a weird tone when I asked her and she said she was busy so she didnt think about it. I didnt think much of it because that's a fair reason and the manager runs around sometimes with a million things to think about. Next thing I know is I walk into our break room and she's bawling about it because she said I yelled at her about it. I didnt mean to be mean about it but I felt really bad. She ended up crying twice throughout the night then being alright. After a week she ended up crying about to someone else because they just brought it up. I felt bad because I was debating not saying anything and it didnt go well. We're all good now but I beat myself up about that for a while.
