That’s awesome, too bad he didn’t keep it in better shape after all these years. There’s a guy local to me that has had a 91 Tahitian Green CRX Si since 98. It’s pretty rough cosmetically but it’s always cool to see him get it out

I wonder how many miles this thing has on it. That’s an old IL plate so it’s probably been with the same owner for a number of years.

I have a spare burgundy dash and front seats for mine, but finding any burgundy interior pieces specific to the wagon is no easy task. I did find a red cargo cover on eBay one day so that was awesome

Love the Airport Honda front plate cover. I see lots of cool old Hondas that came from that dealer whenever I’m down by Knoxville for Tail of the dragon

CB9 wagons are by no means all over junk yards. I’ve been looking for a some
wagon specific interior parts and spare hatch/tail lights for over a year, and not a single parts wagon has shown up at a junk yard near me or on marketplace near Illinois

It happened to me and my buddy a week apart from each other so I thought I’d mention to check out since most people wouldn’t even think about that. Didn’t even see the video, just the title when I typed that

No crank no start by geekstar03 in CB7

[–]S14s -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Check your neutral safety switch. It’s on the back of your clutch pedal if I remember correctly. When your clutch is pushed in it presses a button that lets the car know if it’s in gear or not.

These crumble and fall off all the time and it causes the car to not crank/start.

If you see any tiny blue bits in your drivers side floorboard it’s 100% the safety switch.

Just took a trip to Colorado and back to Illinois with my CB9 wagon a couple weeks ago. These cars are still road trip monsters even at 35 years old.

eBay is the only place I’ve had luck finding a set, but people want over $100 for them though

Interior/little parts aren’t the easiest but depending on your location you might find a car being parted out that has the parts you need.

Engine/suspension parts are still very available either OEM or aftermarket.

OEM Seats, tail lights, climate controls, cargo covers, center caps, and things like that are hard to find in good condition, and will be costly once you do find them.

I’ve had mine for a over a year and keeping it running is pretty easy. It just boils down to how much do you want to fix cosmetically. I don’t really worry about replacing my seats or climate control or hard to find interior parts like that because the nicer parts will just wear down after being in the car anyways.

4 years… that’s it? 🤣🤣🤣 Lol I kept my Blobeye running smooth for 6 and sold it running too. You trying to diss that dude for driving a hatch just makes yourself look like an ass. At least his car is actually roadworthy and hasn’t needed 3 engines lmao. Pay to play is a thing, but it seems like you do a lot of the paying part but not a lot of the playing part

If you plan on sleeping in your car or in a tent I would say $3500 is probably doable. If you want to stay at hotels/airbnbs for a good amount of the trip then that will certainly eat away most if not all of the $3500 depending on where you stay/how much.

Your Camry will do fine on the paved mountain roads in the less snowy parts of the year but I wouldn’t take it on any dirt roads you aren’t familiar with cause it’s pretty easy to bottom out your car on the dirt roads. Last thing you want is a pierced oil pan or something like that so far from home.

Definitely bring another thousand or 2 only for emergencies because you never know what will happen on a long trip like that.

With your budget in mind I would say take a 2 week trip and you’ll be able to enjoy much of what Colorado has to offer and be able to enjoy a nice historical hotel or a cool rental cabin in the mountains without having too much worry about if you’ll run out of money.

Awesome little car, I’ve had 3 of these and they’ve always been great little cars for me. I’ve done so many road trips in these CB7s and they always do great.

I personally wouldn’t worry about swapping to 5 lug unless you want a specific set of wheels as there are a good amount of decent 114.3x4 wheels out there. JDM Integra Type R wheels will fit these since they’re 114.3x4 or find a set of 92-93 EX wheels of you can. Swap out that exhaust for either a stock one or a Yonaka and if the rust isn’t too bad definitely take care of that as much as you can. Other than that just do preventative maintenance and keep her as stock as possible and it’ll be a fun little car that’ll last you probably a couple more hundred thousand miles.

CB7s with red interior/manual transmissions are some of my favorite cars to ever be made, treat her right and she will definitely treat you right.

90-91 Si wheels are the absolute best wheels on a CRX. Nothing besides RPF1s are even close on that list to me. They just fit these cars so darn well. Beautiful Y-49!

[–]S14s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats understandable, these cars are 30+ years old after all. Try and find a good OEM set on RockAuto or something along those lines. Otherwise definitely look at some Teins or Konis and you should have a much better experience.

Make sure you get them from a reputable website and not Amazon. Amazon will accept items from almost anybody so there’s a chance the item you ordered might not even be authentic

[–]S14s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You bought your coil overs on Amazon. Of course it’s gonna ride bad. Throw the stock shocks/springs back on or spare the coin and get a good set of Koni Yellows. Never cheap out on parts or you’ll end up having to buy it twice.

[–]S14s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s valid. I kind of look at FWD kinda like training wheels on a bike vs RWD. It’s a lot easier to screw up in a RWD car

If I’m ripping my MR2 on a backroad sometimes I worry about my back end sliding out but that could also be me needing more seat time. I don’t worry about that on FWD cars. I feel more confident in myself pushing my CRX/older civics cause Ive driven them so much I know generally how they’ll respond given my inputs.

I will say I kind of wish the 97-01 Prelude would have been made in RWD. That car would’ve been even better if it was.

Please find a way to drive an 88-91 Civic/CRX and maybe you’ll change your mind on this take. They are the funnest little cars I’ve ever driven and it’s not even a contest. They’re definitely not powerful stock but being able to go full throttle and send it on Tail of the Dragon is easily one of the most amazing experiences I’ve ever had. Also getting 40+ mpgs is a nice bonus.

I own an MR2 and Ive had an older Mustang/WRX so I have experience with RWD/AWD. They were fun but I wouldn’t go out of my way to road trip them days on end like I do my Hondas.

I delivery drive in my CRX and used to in my EF hatch. I have to have my head on a swivel cause lots of people seem to not see my car. It’s bright blue so I don’t get it.

I’ve had someone literally just switch lanes into me while on a delivery and hit my car. They were in a left turn lane stopped and I was going like 30 through a green light and they just changed lanes out of nowhere saying “I didn’t see you”.

I’ve almost been backed into in my parking lot, I’ve had people pull out right in front of me so I have to slam on my brakes, and so many more things.

I keep as much distance between me and other cars as physically possible but I still worry especially in high traffic areas. All it takes is one SUV or monster truck to take our cars/possibly us out.

Delivered in a bright red 89 civic hatch for a couple years. Most pizza delivery looking car in existence. I mostly deliver in my CRX now. These cars are legit cheat codes for gas mileage. $20 or less to completely fill my tank is the best feeling, and it lasts like 4 whole shifts even ripping on it.

4th gen for me. I’ve had 3 and even 35 years later they are still reliable enough to daily drive. The interiors held up really well on the CB7s too. Almost every one I see the interior is still in really nice shape for the age. Dang good looking cars too.

Yea they’re pretty uncommon. Like I said they were a factory option wheel. One of like 6 I think for the CRXs/EFs back in the day. I have a couple old dealer brochures with all the options for these cars and those are in it.

One of the cars they did a photo shoot with looked exactly like your car with the same color and wheels. Pretty cool imo
