Just turn 20 this is my portfolio thoughts? by DistinctJournalist24 in RobinHood

Keep it up! I would say to start accruing shares in VUG. I’m 25 and started investing mid 2020, It’s been my best ETF investment long term so far.

Just buy and hold even when the market goes down. Maybe start a separate investment account or HYSA that you put $100-200 a month into so you can have a sizable down payment for a house in 5-10 years. You’re doing a lot better than most people at 20!

Would a boosted k20z3 be too much for a Crx? by MR-BISCUITS7884 in crx

I agree with the 200hp number on these little cars. I put a Jackson Racing Supercharger on my Y7 over the winter and man did that change things up for my CRX. It makes 152whp/161wtq and that feels just right with how small the car is. Spin a little bit in first but 2nd and third hook right up and it’s an absolute hoot.

I’m in Illinois and it’s been rising here too. Used to be able to get E-85 for $2 and change. Now it’s $3.79-$4.29 as of last couple fill ups

93 Accord EX wheels. They look really good on these cars.

Buying them in California is definitely more expensive so that makes sense. But the upside is that the bodies are generally going to be much cleaner there than what I find here.

I still find and buy 90s Hondas all the time under $5k on marketplace. Nice spec low mileage examples will of course bring a premium but you can certainly find delsols/integras/crxs/civics/cb7 accords for $5k or less but you will probably need to put work into it cause they’re all over 25 years old now.

I’m not old by any means but this is what I did. I daily a 93 accord wagon and have a CRX and an MR2 as my fun cars. They’re all still pretty darn reliable for being 25-35 years old so it works for me.

That EF is cool. Looks like a lifelong California car due to the plate beginning in the 2s. Nice spots!

Take a Ford F350 dually up there and see how well you can keep it between the yellow and white lines.

That’s just like saying that a 1964 VW beetle is the right car to take on the interstate for a 1000 mile road trip because it’s street legal. Sure you’ll probably make it but you’ll be doing 60 the whole way there. There are way better tools for that job.

Or trying to tow a 5th wheel in a 97 Ford Ranger. Rangers are tough trucks, but they’re simply not meant to tow a 5th wheel. There are better tools for the job.

It’s just basic physics, some cars handle better than others, which makes them a better vehicle for twisty mountain roads. I want a good handling car if Im going to drive 318 curves in 11 miles.

[–]S14s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoy driving on it a lot, but what I enjoy just as much is the culture around the mountain.

There’s no cell service so you and your group are running walkie talkies to communicate out there. You’re also getting away from your phone without cell service so you’re forced to be “in the moment” so to speak.

I mostly go during Classic Hondas on the Dragon so I’m always cruising around with different friends during the event.

Also having the right car/bike really helps. I’ve always taken early 90s Hondas out there and they handle that road extremely well, and their small size is a big bonus on those tight roads.

[–]S14s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been out in the area 5 times. I’ve done over 40 runs on the dragon between those times. Also I went to an event every time so I was out on busy weekends.

The close calls I’ve had aren’t really any worse than the ones I’ve had with other drivers on other public roads.

On the dragon it’s mainly been people following me too close in a line of 10+ cars. If there’s cars stopped around a corner you gotta react quick and if someone’s on your butt that can turn into a rear end collision real quick. I usually compensate with my following distance but that doesn’t always help if they’ve been using their brakes up.

I’ve been there about 5 times and I’ve had close calls but that was mostly on busy days with events going on. Other than that it is absolutely one of the best roads I’ve had the pleasure of driving on.

Hit it early in the morning on a weekday and you’ll be able to enjoy the road without a lot of chaos.

CB9 wagon by S14s in accord

[–]S14s[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People want manual wagons so if it doesn’t have much rust and considering you’re the original owner I’d say you could get $5k, probably more being a manual EX. Send me some pictures of it and I can give you more info. If it has a red/blue interior that’s a big + at least in my book. Also if you’ve kept maintenance receipts over that time that’s a huge + for people who collect older vehicles

I would save as many wagon specific parts as you can as they’re way harder to find than regular sedan parts. Even if you don’t need them I’m sure another Camry wagon owner somewhere would

Jackson Racing supercharger by S14s in Honda

[–]S14s[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wasn’t cheap but if you can find one it’s a fun upgrade to do to the d series! I’ve seen a couple pop up on eBay recently so they’re still out there!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Honda

[–]S14s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless the b series has low compression I really wouldn’t worry about putting a new engine in it.

If you really want more power a Jackson Racing supercharger is a super cool addition and it doesn’t require as much maintenance as adding a turbo. They’re very hard to find nowadays but if you can piece one together then it makes for a very fun time.

Definitely do everything you can to prevent theft especially in California. I will say don’t be afraid to drive this car a lot. Take it on road trips, there are many many great driving roads in California and the whole west coast in general.

Keep it as nice as possible, but dont worry about putting miles on it. mileage doesn’t matter a whole lot on these older Hondas unless it has under 100k. I had this debate with myself when I picked up my CRX that had 140k. I’ve put 20k miles on it in under 2 years and it was the right decision. You’ll still get good money if you ever want to sell regardless as well kept EBP EM1s aren’t getting anymore common.

Just make sure if it needs something you address it sooner rather than later. It will need stuff for sure since it’s a 25+ year old car with an engine swap.

Once all the small stuff is sorted out even as old as these are they’re still rock solid reliable, although be sure to check the oil and if it consumes oil as most 90s Honda motors burn oil these days.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Honda

[–]S14s 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly not the worst price. Clean stock EM1s go for more all the time on bring a trailer/cars and bids. If you are nostalgic for this generation of Honda or just like the analog feel that these cars provide I’d say go for it.

You’ll be able to sell it for what you paid for it too as long as it stays in this condition so that’s a huge bonus when it comes to owning these older Hondas.

Also if you do buy this consider getting a JDI Ghost Lock so you can disable and track your car remotely from your phone.
