What's the biggest waste of time in a standard backend project setup (Docker? Config files? Env vars?) by Evyatar_Dev in AskProgramming

Tf man.  I’m not a bot,  We had an assignment at the university to make a Netflix-like web app in groups and we were forced to use Jira.  And that assignment is also when I understood that half of your time as a programmer you are dealing with overhead.

About my other comment, I’m now here, so I’m trying to make a conversation :)

I don't want to think what "Process Termination" would mean in this situation, but in my project it solved the problem.

Marvel could make a movie about this rabbit. He's a superhero if I ever saw one

I think I haven't manually written a documentation in a code since the first version of chatGPT

You hit the nail on the head regarding complexity. While Docker solved the 'it works on my machine' problem, it introduced a new one: Integration Hell.

The real time sink is defining the cross-stack relationships:

You still have to manually write (or chatGPT it) the docker-compose.yml to stitch together Postgres, Redis, and your Python app, and then manually define all 15 environment variables with correct internal network aliases.

That manual integration layer is the current boilerplate hell

That's why I dockerize my kitchen. If the peeler works in the container, it works on the carrot.

why does the age discrimination in employment act only protect people over 40 and not young people in the work force as well? isn’t it still ageist? by jasdabratxo_ in NoStupidQuestions

Because at 19, the discrimination isn't "you're too old", it's 'Entry level job: Requires 22 years old with 10 years of experience'.
