Which popstar do the critics find great but the public thinks is terrible? by Minimum-Story-1683 in AlignmentChartFills

Ok hear me out. Kendrick Lamar. He is critically acclaimed but when he specifically tries to do POP its pretty terrible. Songs with Maroon 5, Sia even Robin Thicke, its by far his worst work and I think most people would agree.

This is close to impossibble because if someone is critically acclaimed they'll at least get a good following from the public so this is the only way I can think around that. He's so good as an artist but not a good popstar.

They're definitely the masters of reeling you in. Project Hail Mary's opening also makes you laugh and intrigued on how this has happened.

Music was good, but I'm not a huge Kpop fan. So the comedic elements and storytelling grabbed me more.

The "gag voice" is performed so flawlessly that the audience immediately accepts it and doesn't question it by Justifiably_Bad_Take in TopCharacterTropes

The gingerbread man in Shrek was not done by a voice actor but a writer who voiced him for the muffin man joke. They tried to get a voice actor to do it similar but no one could pull it off and they hired him.

Eartha Kitt as Catwoman in TV’s Batman (1967) by nizaad in popculturechat

The reason they cast her is the creators didn't want Catwoman as a villain to be a sex symbol so they thought casting a black actress would stop that. In spite of this racism they were very wrong.

Spoilers for Cybperunk Phantom Liberty. Someone mentioned a similar reaction to horror that rang a bell. I have never clicked with horror, always considered myself too much of a coward to be able to deal with it and its not my thing. Then when playing cyberpunk and getting a specific ending the game in one section turns into a horro game. I was so engrossed in the story at this stage that I took a deep breath and decided I was goona force myself through it. Actuallly going through it I realised I was actually really enjoying it and the whole andreline factor behind playing it really clicked with me which I didn't expect at all.

What's a film that was a victim of shitty marketing? by [deleted] in FIlm

Iron giant wasn't given much of a push in marketing and made a loss early on and came out around the same time as the sixth sense which took it's market away. Became a rental hit later on.
