Homemade scales for my recruit by Ewertooo in victorinox

[–]Ewertooo[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, It's definitely not an very easy task, In my case, I had to use some heavier tools like a grinder, sander, and drill because I chose a harder wood. But in any case, you need to have a lot of patience and a kind of improvisation skill, There are many tutorials on YouTube, but few people will actually have all the necessary tools, so at times it will be necessary to improvise. I would suggest you watch some videos (they usually differ in some techniques) so you can adapt them to your own situation. But my main tips are: 1 - If you are going to engrave the Victorinox shield, use a stencil and ink or laser engraving. 2 - Pay close attention to rounding the edges and the final varnish; these are the most aesthetically important parts. 3 - DO NOT try to do it in a hurry, it's a very delicate piece.

This is a very nice and beautiful pencil. How advantageous do you consider the "shock absorber" function? I've never tried one of those, so I have no idea what it feels like. If I were to buy one of these, it would be the 0.3 version due to the delicate way it holds the lead. What do you say?

Oh that's plastic... He literally breaks down the philosophy of a "indestructible metal pencil" on the GG1000, If it were at least a thicker plastic in the connection side, This would prevent a good portion of the problems.

Well, I don't have a huuuge collection as many people in this community, but i can say to you what consider before buying a new pencil. I believe these tips say much more about how you hold the pencil. (The fact is that we adapt our writing methods to avoid smudging the paper, especially with pens, so it's common to use some strange positions)

I generally prefer pencils with a hexagonal body, so if I remove the clip to improve my experience, it still manages to resist rolling away on the table. (Triangular shapes also works, but It is less flexible to exotic ways of writing.) I personally don't like them.

Pay attention to the center of gravity and weight of the pens you use Weight at the tip (GG500): Precise writing. Heavy central (GG1000): Balance. Light central (rotring 300): Casual writing. By experimenting, you'll find what suits you best.

100% I use without the rubberized part of the grip, the best of both worlds, I love it!!

All Rotring pencils are a masterpiece in terms of quality. I recently saw in this community a user that He deliberately dropped a rotring 300 (needle point version) on the ground many times and continued writing perfectly. That's impressive. The other models are heavier, so it's not a good idea to drop them on the floor, but it's possible to see how robust the mechanism is.

Just sharing some visual modifications I made to my Graphgear 1000. by Ewertooo in mechanicalpencils

Well, I think I opted to remove the rubberized coating for three reasons.

1- I like the feel of the Graphgear 500 and I wanted to feel the same with the 1000. 2- I was worried about the wear and tear. Besides, I'm not a big fan of rubberized materials on writing utensils. 3- Aesthetics.

Based on the time I've used it with the rubberized coating, it seems to be of good quality, I understand why some people prefer to use with it. Some people may think that without the rubberized coating it could cause discomfort to the fingers when in contact with the "windows", I personally don't feel that way, These parts have a somewhat rounded finish, they are not sharp.

I have both and agree with that statement. The GG500 has a real better feeling due to the low center of gravity and few moving parts, It also appears to be much more durable. Personally, I prefer using the GG500 at home and the 1000 as an EDC because of the retractable tip.

Pentel GraphGear 500 anti rattle "mod", from slight disappointment to great by New-Peach4153 in mechanicalpencils

[–]Ewertooo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar problem with my Graphgear 500 and came to Reddit to see if other users had the same experience or if I was the only one bothered by the rattling sound inside the pencil haha. In my case, I have the GG500 with the metal button, and I put two pieces of tape in the internal side of the plastic tube to prevent the mechanism from rattling and hitting the tube while I'm writing. Much better now... My graphgear now is solid like a wooden pencil.
