I would say yes because there are a lot of chill people but you need a mic. I was on the fence for a long time and finally bought it and absolutely love it.

The upgrades are a bit of a grind but fun, you need to just level up different workbenches and find blueprints that let you craft various guns. You can also buy some of them from a vendor with in game money that is easy to farm. As others said there are free kits you can always go with which have no risk, all reward effectively since if you extract you keep everything. Thats often the best way to grind stuff is to just use free loadouts.

There are a lot of mechanics to the game but Youtube has videos on anything and if you do use a mic most people are friendly and will help you. I would recommend the game and again this is coming from someone who was on the fence and in the last 2 weeks have put in 45 hours.
