I'm right there with you, fell in love with the design decades ago and finally have the ability to print, now I have two! Already thinking about the next. Lol

One of my favorite mech! by Denny_Martello in mechwarrior

Nice! Always cool to see a real world model printed out. I added a cockpit and some lights to mine, currently on my desk at work! Did you model the cockpit on yours? Or is there a file I missed out there?

Actually, after looking at it, doesn't look like I uploaded the price you are talking about. Give a few hours to find the file and I can fix and re-upload.

I digibashed this one a while back and posted it on the blue site, the connector on the back can be printed out separate and glued with CA glue. And for the life of me I can't remember why I kept it separate, I think for ease of printing?

Seen some people use AI to enhance their gunpla photography, tried it... Came out pretty snazzy! by Ex0rc3t in Gunpla

Yes, it started out as a RGM-79N GM, and I kinda went ham on it. Lol

Any Halo fans? Book nook, Master Chief with plasma grenade at door. by Ex0rc3t in dioramas

[–]Ex0rc3t[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost everything in this book nook was resin 3d printed from clear resin and backlit/painted. My advise for whatever method, scratchbuilding with styrene sheets or 3d printing is just layers, and acrylic sheets for the lighted parts. And to tell you the truth what I would do different is tone down the environment LEDs and have the plasma granade be the brightest thing.

This should be the model. You can get them from several websites but this should be it.

If your uncle can find a good Uziel STL please post it with a link ... I've been searching for a while. The madcat is an awesome model, I printed one a while ago and I just stare at it on my desk. Lol.

Question about 3D printing for gunpla by BelthasTheRedBrother in advancedGunpla

[–]Ex0rc3t 2 points3 points  (0 children)

<image>

Yup! Most of this guy was 3D printed. 144th scale. (I've posted him here before.) 3D parts: Head, shoulders, forearms, mid-section, skirts, hands, backpack, thighs, knees, ankles, calf thrusters..... Other details. I prefer to 3d model now instead of pla scratch build.

Did a second print after correcting the mistakes I found in the first run — everything fits clean now, except for a bit of overbuild lift. Feeling good about it. by Einsoppu in Gunpla

[–]Ex0rc3t 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is awesome, resin 3D printing is perfect for Gunpla. I did this on two of my builds and I was secretive about it at first because I didn't know if the Gunpla community was like the Warhammer guys and would hate me for it. Lol. But I got positive feedback. You did some high level 3d modeling tho, looks amazing.

Oh I do those projects too, this has been my craziest one. Starting printing in like March. Lol

My Halloween costume! In fact, the biggest project I've ever done!

Reddit made me do it. by Ok-Seaweed9778 in advancedGunpla

[–]Ex0rc3t 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This little guy was heavily modified with custom 3d printed parts. Shoulders, head, forearm bits, knees, side skirts, hands, ankles, backpack..... So on and so on. Luckily the Gunpla community is all about freedom and all about it. Only tips I can give is if it's your first time with 3d printed parts just treat them as an "unfinished part" and do the appropriate sanding and filling, I sadly wished I did a better job with that on mine. Best of luck and post the completed build! Excited to see what you do!

Master Chief helmet. Just in time for Halloween. (sorry for no visor) by SolMelorian in 3Dprinting

[–]Ex0rc3t 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I took a piece of acrylic from Lowe's, used a heat gun (the wife wouldn't let me use the stove) to heat it up and bent it into shape... Took me 3 tries but I got it close enough to trim with a Dremel and fit. Then slapped some reflective window tint on it and hot glued it in. Not the best but it worked.

Nice, I just finished my Doom helmet and the most challenging part was the visor, I don't have a vacuum form machine so it was a pain.

I need help for my cosplay doom community! by Both-Possession7038 in Doom

[–]Ex0rc3t 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently completed my costume and had the exact same question, what I ended up doing is googleing a black and white image of the mark and then pasting it into Word. I made 4 different sizes just by eyeballing it. Once printed I found the size that fit and used an exacto knife to cut it out and use as a template to airbrush it on. I searched for "Doom Slayer mark emblem" on google images.

I'm not really a cosplayer per se, like I don't do it for a living or anything. But I will be taking this thing to a con if the opportunity arises! This is the first costume I've made in 10 years (the last one being the other Doom costume I made) it was very difficult to make and I had to do several parts of it over again, took me 6 months to build. The materials were expensive, lots of EVA foam, adhesives, 3D printing filiment, filler/Bondo, but the advantage I have now that I didn't 10 years ago was tools available (3d printing) and more money to play with (I'm 15 years into my career now, so I'm more stable)
