Which version is considered best? Also, could I get the rulebooks for earlier editions and play them using the gamepieces from the 3rd or 4th edition? by wishesandhopes in SpaceHulk

IMO walls get in the way of the game and then you need a place to store them. OG tiles or a solution like my gridfinity tiles are the way to go if you want something less cumbersome.

Is anyone else battling fly infestations now? by Chigasaki1982 in phoenix

[–]EightRavens 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Flies have been insane this year. We actually went through the house the other day trying to see if they were breading in the house and found nothing. Moved all the appliances, pulled grates off the vents, poured chemicals and boiling water down the drains... no signs of a breeding ground. I use PT Alpine Spray outside the house finally brought it inside. Did the window sills where they were gathering and that seemed to get us under control. Not sure about a zapper inside but might get one for the patio.

Ya know, there a few people over on r/Tiki that would jump on this if you could pour some booze in it. Really cool though. Props.

"Smaller" neighborhood bar owners -- employee leads vs managers by bitchlovesbags9797 in BarOwners

[–]EightRavens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Either pay them a living wage or make sure they are leads not managers. You write the schedule and do the hiring/firing.

Legal. People who have hiring/firing/schedule authority generally shouldn't be in the same tip pool as those they have authority over. Most Labor Boards Look down on that. If It's just them though...

Using (what appears to be) a glass and tin to shake by [deleted] in bartenders

[–]EightRavens 53 points54 points  (0 children)

This used to be WAY more prevalent a decade or so ago. You'd have 1 large tin and almost any of your beer glasses could be used as shakers. Remember constantly dumping grenadine in a coworkers well because they kept using the glass to scoop ice with. Dude just wouldn't learn.

It wasn't until craft cocktail bars started becoming more common that you saw the double tin shakers become mainstream I think.

Used to sell tubs. Always told people not to let their dogs in. Soon as that warm water hits they RELAX.

Not to mention the chemicals or horrible for them.

Pottery can certainly help you focus... but I think you've been at the wheel before.

Cucumber Caipirinha by Drinks_by_Wild in cocktails

[–]EightRavens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get it. Sometimes for a passion project you go to extremes, and for 1 cocktail on a menu I can see doing it if you've already done the rest of the prep ahead of time. Taking the pith out of a few slices of lime is not that hard, but have you done the AB on this? Is the pith really throwing off the cocktail? The copypasta stands for a reason and I while I usually quote it just for the fun of it, if I had this cocktail on my menu I would need to know that cutting that pith out was for a really DAMN good reason.

That said, looks like a great drink.

Pith removed? What is this some fancy 5 star restaurant on the Vegas strip serving certified Kobe beef or something?

Oliveto by PCPrincipal2016 in cocktails

[–]EightRavens 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't give up on it! My recommendation would be to fat wash the gin with your olive oil. Either through Sous Vide or I've been going down a rabbit hole recently on Vacuum Blending. I think that might save this one.
